Chapter 255: Chapter 53: Emotional Drama
"Eleanor, you shouldn’t charge straight ahead here," said Solomon. "You should take a curved charge, bypassing that large rock from the left side, passing right through their blind spot, understand? Wilhelm, reshoot."
"Miel, the shooting order is wrong. Those two corpse witches at the back are clearly magic system Transcendents; you should prioritize interrupting their spellcasting. The skeleton bowmen in front can be ignored. In fact, if you exert some control over the corpse witches, the arrow accuracy of the skeleton bowmen is basically useless. Wilhelm, reshoot."
"Comrades, we’ve already reshot this ten times! Have you all mastered the issues that were exposed earlier? Can we get it right this time? Pay attention to your positioning! Techniques! Rhythm! Wilhelm, continue!"
"Wilhelm, it’s normal for you not to see it. Trust me, I’m a trained professional who absolutely detests battle scenes full of loopholes, and you’re also a tasteful playwright who strives for perfection. I trust you would never allow such obvious flaws and errors in your final work, right?"
Due to the difference in the flow of time between the outside world and the internal, what was only a moment outside, had been several days in the thoughts of Wilhelm.
Everyone worked tirelessly, without eating or drinking, on the front lines of their performing career, shooting almost more than five consecutive scenes in one go.
In fact, from the first to the fifth scene, Aske had to redo each fighting scene more than ten times, making even Wilhelm himself feel a bit embarrassed. Including the reshoots of the combat scenes, Aske and the others had fought almost four hundred battles.
This guy is really too dedicated, his standards are even stricter than those of me, the playwright.
Who knew there were so many details in a fight?
Wilhelm, in his lifetime, would of course often venture into Mutant territories for research. However, unlike regular adventurers, he had no real combat experience and could only rely on his high-rank luck trait to cleverly dodge monsters and dangers.
Therefore, he couldn’t tell the difference between good and poor quality in fights. However, as someone who frequently skirted the edge of death, he did notice that the protagonists’ battle scenes became more and more perilous under Aske’s frequent revisions.
Each movement, each strike, had its particulars. If it weren’t done seamlessly, according to Aske, it would somehow fall short of the quality needed to qualify as a perfect work of art.
Considering the pursuit of perfection and constant revisions, the quality of the play also improved. Therefore, Wilhelm was happy to let him take control of the fight scenes.
What Wilhelm hadn’t realized, of course, was that the reason for the repeated reshoots wasn’t that the scenes weren’t acted well, but that Aske was using Wilhelm’s ability to freely create in his mind, deceiving him into designing specific combat environments according to his training plan for efficient training effects.
The advantage of being in a Mind Body state is that you don’t feel hunger or thirst, you don’t get injured, and you don’t get tired, allowing you to practice repeatedly against a kind of monster. Sometimes the girls made too many mistakes, and Aske would even ask Wilhelm for a "replay" of the scene, breaking down the fight frame by frame for thorough Analysis, giving both girls an enlightening experience.
In the outside world, aside from a few with special abilities like "Dream," no one could construct such a convenient training environment. Therefore, Eleanor and Miel treasured it, going all out in every training session, rapidly improving their combat awareness and experience.
However, the fight scenes were ultimately limited, and as the main storyline advanced to the sixth episode, the relationship between the male lead Solomon and the two female leads deepened, leading to an increasing number of romance scenes.
The first scene of the sixth episode featured Solomon, the male lead plucking up courage, finally confessing his love to the female lead Miranda. She joyfully responded to his confession, but due to a communication misunderstanding, Solomon mistakenly believed he had been rejected.
Quite a melodramatic and awkward plotline... However, in order to acquire the high-rank "Luck" trait and more training opportunities, everyone had no choice but to grit their teeth and continue acting.
"Miranda." In the clearing of a small grove, Christina went to the riverbank to clean her magic wand, while Aske, who played Solomon, called Miranda aside and earnestly said, "Miranda, there’s something I want to tell you."
He showed a somewhat embarrassed expression, half sincere, half pretense: "Actually, I’ve always had feelings for you..."
As Aske’s face got closer and closer, Miel’s heartbeat accelerated rapidly, a tingling sensation spreading alongside a cute blush, quickly climbing up her elegant neck to her cheeks.
"NG!" The screen froze again, with a loud voice booming, "Miss Miel, how many times have I said it! Don’t blush!"
"Miranda’s character is gentle and shy, and she has already fallen for the male lead Solomon. At this moment, upon receiving Solomon’s confession, her feelings would be of joy, of being moved, of pleasure..."
"But she definitely should not be shy!"
"I know that," Miel responded weakly, her face so red it seemed it would burst, "but that’s not something I can control..."
"She’s still just a child. Don’t set such high expectations for controlling expressions," Aske interjected.
"In my lifetime, I’ve dealt with child stars whose acting skills were even stronger than adults," the voiceover commented.
"Then go find those child stars to act," Aske said.
I held back!
The narrator was gritting his teeth with anger, but Aske had hit the nail on the head. He wasn’t in a position to be picky, so he was forced to swallow his rage and patiently asked Miel,
"Miss Miel, I’m not being unreasonable. It’s just that your blushing is too noticeable, and we can’t fix it in post-production. Can’t you hold it back?"
Miel sneaked a glance at Aske and said nothing.
Her little movement was clearly seen by the two adults present, both of whom sighed internally. Aske felt helpless and embarrassed, while Wilhelm was annoyed.
"It seems we have no choice but to shoot the scenes separately," Wilhelm tried to accept reality.
The so-called separate shooting meant recording A and B individually, and then cutting the footage together to create the effect of A and B interacting with each other.
The narrator’s thought had barely crossed his mind before he teleported Aske away and brought Eleanor here.
"What, finished with the scene so quickly?" asked Eleanor, confused.
The second scene of act six depicted Solomon, despondent, coming by the riverbank only to be confessed to by Christina.
"It’s not like that, Miss Eleanor," the narrator explained. "For the first scene, I’d like you to play Solomon’s stand-in."
"Me?" Eleanor asked, puzzled. "Isn’t it Aske?"
"There has been a minor issue with Mr. Aske and Miss Miel’s cooperation," the narrator glossed over politely. "In any case, you just need to stand in Solomon’s place, no need for lines or action."
"Oh." Although she didn’t understand why, Eleanor did as she was told.
In front of Eleanor, Miel, with her composure restored, delivered her lines smoothly and her expressions were flawless.
Listening to these implicit, tender words, Eleanor also became reflective. She could imagine what the problem with their cooperation might be—such lines would make even her blush with embarrassment.
But Miel truly had a talent for acting... Although she didn’t stand out much within the squad, she unexpectedly seemed to have an actor’s gift?
If Miel wasn’t the problem, then it must be Aske. Always a calm face in daily life, who could’ve guessed he’d be shy saying such lines?
Lost in these thoughts, Eleanor heard Miel say with a smile at the end, "I’m very sorry, Mr. Solomon. I can’t give you an answer now. When we return to Imperial City, I hope we can find another time for just the two of us to talk seriously."
"Good, that’s a wrap!" said the narrator, and then fell into silence, obviously off to find Aske to shoot the male lead’s part.
"My goodness, Miel," Eleanor said with a chuckling smile as she wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "you really do have a talent for acting. Have you considered becoming a stage actress?"
Miel shook her head, feeling her cheeks still slightly warm.
"What was the problem with the Squad Leader just now?" Eleanor continued to inquire, "According to the script, he was supposed to confess to you, right? What, did he get shy?"
Miel shook her head again, thinking to herself that it was actually her own shyness.
Clenching the hem of her clothes nervously, she remained silent. She was well aware of the Squad Leader’s popularity within the squad, and considering he still treated her like a child, she felt even less confident about getting involved in that mess.
Better to keep her feelings hidden inside. Oh, when will I ever grow up?
Ellie misinterpreted Miel’s subtle sadness as exhaustion from her performance and comforted her by patting her head, chuckling,
"This is also my first time acting, and I was nowhere near as impressive as you. Hey, what do you think about starting our own theater troupe if the mercenary life doesn’t pan out? The Azure Theater Troupe?"
You’re really into acting now, aren’t you? Miel glanced at her speechlessly and said, "Then you’ll play the role of the noble lady?"
"I couldn’t," said Eleanor with a bitter smile and a wave of her hand, "I think Nora would be quite fitting, and Medea wouldn’t be bad either. Mainly because my temperament is more suited to wielding swords and guns. I’m not really cut out for that kind of thing."
Right, everyone in the squad comes from distinguished backgrounds, unlike me... Miel’s melancholy and insecurity deepened. She wished she could curl up into a ball and hide somewhere out of sight.
