Chapter 234: Chapter 32 Extraordinary Firearms

"Chief is freaking awesome!"

"I’ve been fighting until now and haven’t even got a scratch on me!"

"What, can’t find an opportunity to get injured, so you can go and get treated by that pretty girl yourself? Feeling regretful about that?"

"Yeah, yeah, Who would’ve thought Chief’s swordsmanship would be so flawless? These mercenaries controlled by the Heart Stealers can’t even touch us. It’s hard to get hurt even if I wanted to!"

"Heh, Martin, that’s not what you were saying in the beginning."

"Bullshit! That’s because I was blind as a dog and mistook Chief as some noble young master showing off with a sword."

"...You really have the nerve to say that."

Surrounded by the swordsman of the Richartnal Knights, Aske and others continued their exploration deeper into the ruins.

The Combined Attack Skill designed by Aske wasn’t difficult; as long as one kept good timing, it could almost turn the fight into a turn-based game.

As the swordsmen’s proficiency increased, their efficiency in fighting these octopus-headed mercenaries shot up, and soon everyone realized the benefits of the Combined Attack Skill. Even Martin, who had looked down on the Chief the most, was now singing Aske’s praises non-stop.

To be able to design such a Combined Attack Skill, you could only say Chief was awesome; but when it comes to Aske’s design process, where he alone, with just a sword, could achieve the effect of the swordsmen’s combined efforts, that couldn’t be described as merely awesome. If you had to say, it was horrifying.

Everyone could only openly praise the awesomeness, while secretly discussing the Chief’s real identity: someone with such strong swordsmanship obviously couldn’t be some unknown person.

"I just asked Hans."

"What did he say?"

"He said Chief is the teacher’s illegitimate child."

"Sss!" Everyone suddenly gasped. The teacher’s illegitimate child, how could that be...

But it seemed not impossible. Once a Transcendent reached Lv.10, they could temporarily restore fertility by suppressing their Bloodline power.

Moreover, if this Chief really was the teacher’s illegitimate child, then the teacher’s attitude towards him, Nuremberg’s and Hans’s attitude towards him, as well as the extremely strong abilities that didn’t match his age, could all be explained.

"So, should we start sucking up to him?"

"Sucking up? With your looks, you think you’re worthy to be an accessory on Chief’s arm?"

"What’s an arm accessory?"

"A Mage and Doctor! Those two pretty girls, weren’t they being held by Chief on each side when we came down? Didn’t you see?"

Everyone was amazed.

"The teacher must be quite worried, though he’s a Demigod, his offspring aren’t thriving. He can only hope for his illegitimate child to spread the branches."

"It seems like all Extraordinary Families have similar issues, right? I heard that the Duke of Franconia hasn’t fathered a son, and now only he and his daughter are left in the Hohenstaufen family."

"That can’t be helped, even if they suppress their Extraordinary Power, Transcendents’ fertility is quite weak."

"Is there a special Extraordinary Ability that can enhance fertility?"

Medea ended her Mind Reading eavesdropping thoughtfully. An ability to enhance fertility? Heh, not necessary at all. As an Enchanting Demon, reproduction and fertility is one of my race’s talents.

She walked over to Aske, who was discussing with Hans, and said, "You better cherish me well."

Aske looked utterly confused: ???

Nora immediately puffed up her cheeks in anger, while Hans quietly looked away, pretending he didn’t hear anything, and tactfully moved aside.

"Do you have any opinions on the topic we were just discussing?" Aske wisely refrained from pressing further and merely shifted the conversation.

"What did you say just now?" Medea asked.

"Ahem," Aske said. "It’s quite obvious now that the mutant has also realized that these isolated octopus-headed mercenaries are no match for our Combined Attack Skill of the swordsmen."

"Yet it still chooses this utterly useless tactic of fueling the fight by sending out its Heart Stealer mercenaries one after another to their death as if..."

"...As if it’s buying time, hatching some kind of conspiracy." Nora finished Aske’s sentence.

"Hmm, is it?" Medea suddenly felt a strange sense of guilt; she remembered the incident of Medusa’s splitting.

"Let’s not worry about that for now; let’s keep moving forward," Aske suggested.

The group continued on and soon arrived at the third hall, where, instead of upright cultivation tanks, various kinds of firearms were stored.

The swordsmen showed little interest. The weapons they were interested in were swords, whose killing power increased with their own strength; they were indifferent to these firearms, which inflicted a fixed amount of damage, were complex in structure, and required ammunition to fire.

Aske and the others, however, were somewhat excited and began to take down the firearms from the racks to inspect them.

"A flamethrower?" Medea chuckled, placing the rifle back on the rack and reading the nameplate. "Embedded with the Extraordinary Trait of Flame I, it can continuously emit a high-temperature heat flow."

"It’s not very useful," Aske opined. "But it could be studied."

"It’s a pity," said Nora.

Of course, the three of them knew what she was lamenting. Since entering the town, the entrance to Fire Island had always been with Mia for her to teleport them at any moment, then slip into the Shadow Realm to escape.

Without the support of Fire Island, it was unrealistic to take all these firearms. It seemed they could only pick out a few useful ones first and then come back to see if there was an opportunity after dealing with the mutant.

"Z-Wave handgun." Aske picked up one of the strangely shaped handguns. "You can try this, Medea."

"What’s it used for?" Medea asked.

"For use by Mind Ability Users only." Aske read from the nameplate. "Powered by Spirituality, it can shoot out a Telekinesis Field to push or pull enemies."

"Oh, that’s quite suitable," thought Medea. Isn’t this a miniaturized version of "Gravity Manipulation"? She had long coveted Thira’s ability. She took the handgun from Aske and examined it with delight.

"Hmm, there’s one more line here," Aske continued reading. "This gun is a prototype, currently unstable when firing, with a self-explosion probability of around 14%."

Medea: ...........

She silently placed the handgun back on the rack.

"This one’s suitable for Nora." Aske picked up another rifle. "Y-Wave Ray Gun, charged with Wizard Stone, activates with Life Sequence Ability Users, capable of shooting waves of Healing Light."

"It’s basically like changing your ’Healing Touch’ Skill from touch activation to remote Throwing, expanding your healing range."

"That does sound quite useful," Nora replied as she took the Y-Wave Ray Gun, striking a cool pose with the gun.

Previously, as the team healer, she could only touch and heal her sisters one by one after the fight ended. But with this rifle, she could perform mid-battle healing—simply aiming and shooting at her teammates.

Indeed, she’d need to ask Miel for some shooting lessons when she got back.

"Chief!" Hans suddenly rushed in from the opposite corridor. "We’ve found the source of the mutant!"

"Oh?" Aske responded. "In the room ahead?"

"Yes," Hans said. "I’ll take you there."

"Before we go, I have one more question." Aske drew his longsword. "Where is the real Hans?"
