Chapter 134: 38 Chapters saber turret

"Do you know what an Instant Step is?" Rasul asked nonchalantly, hands clasped behind his back.

"It’s a technique that allows to burst into high speed instantly," Mia replied.

"Wrong!" Rasul pointed at her and exclaimed. "Instant Step is not a technique, it’s a way of using your leg muscles."

"The extraordinary power that you absorb or plunder, once transformed into physical power, can significantly enhance your physical quality. But do you know how to effectively utilize it?"

"The basic human running style was developed through millions of years of evolution based on ordinary human fitness, balancing energy conservation and efficiency."

"However, when your physical quality has been enhanced beyond the norm, the default way of running is no longer suitable. You need a method that allows for burst of speed in a short time."

"So, how do I do that?" asked Mia.

"Shut up! Didn’t Aske teach you not to interrupt when someone else is talking?" Rasul scolded her.

Mia pouted but said nothing.

"First, you need to change your running posture!" Rasul, producing a longsword from nowhere, tapped her body with the scabbard, "Lean your upper body forward! Lower body too! Land on the ball of your front foot. Lift your back heel!"

"If I lean any further, I’ll fall over!" Mia retorted angrily.

"The way to avoid falling is to keep running! Keep moving forward!" Rasul pushed her into a run, occasionally whacking her with the sheath. "Faster! Even faster! Lean forward even more!"

As Mia tried to lean forward during the run, she nearly fell face first but quickly increased her speed.

Meanwhile, Aske, carrying his longsword, killed about a dozen targets again and turned to check on Mia’s progress.

Mia was frantically running around a hill, while at the summit, Rasul held a stopwatch and kept yelling:

"Speed up! Speed up! You must break into 10 meters per second or you’ll be dead!"

"The training seems to be going smoothly," Aske spoke as he climbed the hill.

"This dream really is a training paradise," Rasul observed, looking down, "If this were reality, my new recruits like her would have fallen over due to muscle strains from running so wildly."

"The so-called fatigue in dreams is merely a mental illusion; it doesn’t cause any physical damage. And the prolonged repetitive practice here not only trains her tolerance and will but also ingrains in her the method of muscle exertion, much like that VR thing..."

"VR," Aske said.

"Yes, VR," Rasul agreed. "I’ve wanted to get a VR setup, but unfortunately, only the headquarters of the Church Court has that kind of technology."

"We should try to bring a friend from the Dream School," he sighed.

————————

In the army camp of Olin City, the training grounds.

Within The Azure Longsword, the few melee fighters who initially battled with the Spartans had almost all been turned into snipers in the combat dream.

After purchasing the required spiritual material, the remaining girls had just returned to the army barracks when they heard that the new recruit, Hood, had developed a new piece of equipment.

"Dun Dun Dun!" Hood pushed out a cubic steel box, about 1 meter on each side, and opened it like a magician unveiling a trick.

"Saber Knight King automatic firing turret!" he enthusiastically disclosed.

Inside the steel box was a peculiarly shaped machine gun.

"What’s the use of this?" Thira asked.

"It’s equipped with a fully automated visual recognition program and a rotary machine gun. Once activated, it can automatically detect and shoot at enemies. Cool, huh?" Hood explained.

"Why is there a tuft of hair sticking up on top of the machine gun?" Miel inquired.

"That’s an ahoge," Hood earnestly explained. "The ahoge is a signature of the Knight King’s fighting strength... Hey! Stop, stop!"

Before he could cry out in distress, Medea had already plucked the attached wig off.

"Ha, it still looks like Eleanor’s hair," she scoffed.

"I barely collected it from beside her pillow..." Hood said dejectedly.

"Sticking on hair is meaningless," Thira said, laughing and crying, "Come on, show us."

"Got it." Hood tinkered with the machine gun for a while and then pressed the switch.

The machine gun rattled around, aiming at several targets in the distance and quickly destroyed all the targets.

"The turning is too slow," Miel commented, "With that turning speed, the enemy could just run in an arc and charge right up to the machine gun to sabotage it. Also, can the gun barrel only move parallel and not vertically rotate?"

"An arc charge? What’s that?" Hood was bewildered, "Isn’t this turning speed fast enough? Can someone actually dodge its bullets just by running?"

"As far as I know, Aske and Peggy definitely can," Miel pondered, "Mia might be able to as well."

"This is a bit heavy," Nora tried lifting the turret.

"Of course, it’s made of steel, with nearly 40% of the weight from the ammunition chamber," Hood explained.

"It’s not easy to transport if it’s this heavy," Nora said.

"It can be mounted on the roof of the car," Hood suggested, "Don’t you guys have a vehicle?"

"Let me give you my take," Thira said, "The purpose of this machine gun turret should be to supplement the output of the weaker part of the team when splitting up."

"If it is only mounted on a car, it means the team can only stay near the car. That’s too restrictive."

"Change the physical ammunition to energy ammunition," Nora suggested, "It would reduce the weight."

"The main structure material could be replaced with military-grade aluminum alloy, and the parts bearing shear stress could be replaced with fine gold components."

"Where would we get those materials?" Hood chuckled. Military-grade aluminum alloy? Fine gold? Are those materials something ordinary people can get their hands on?

"No need, we have some in our team’s warehouse," Nora replied. We still have a few boxes of raw materials left from what we took from the Great Arena last time.

Hood: ......

"After reducing the weight, can it be carried around?" Miel asked.

"I’m afraid not," Nora said.

"Then I don’t need it," Miel stated.

"Attach a jet hover engine to it," Nora thought for a moment, "Then there won’t be a weight issue."

Hood was speechless.

It’s just a standard self-firing turret! Why do you all seem to want to remodel it like Bumblebee?

"Don’t you think the name is awful?" Medea asked, shaking her head, "Saber? Knight King? What does that mean?"

"Change the name," Thira said, "How about Sabre Turret?"

"Not bad," Nora said.

Well, even the name got changed.

Hood began to rant inwardly. Do you women have to arbitrarily give suggestions and make changes? Do you know anything about mechanical dynamics? The law of energy dispersion? You propose requirements without understanding anything, and when I make something that turns out to looking ridiculous, you criticize it for being ugly!

No more changes! If you want changes, do them yourselves!

"So let’s leave it at that," Nora smiled, "Hood, the turret you made is quite useful. If it can be optimized as everyone just suggested, it would surely be perfect."

Hood stared blankly at her smiling face, and suddenly the word "Angel" popped into his mind.

"Okay! I’ll definitely make the changes!" he hastily nodded in agreement.
