Chapter 91: The Meeting
Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The Meeting
The drive to the meeting location was quiet.
Tyler sat in the passenger seat, gaze fixed on the blur of passing buildings and dusty streets.
David kept both hands on the wheel, focused, but even he could feel the tension in the air.
This wasn’t just another meeting. This was the first direct confrontation with the country’s real power structure.
They arrived twenty minutes later.
The compound looked like a fortified government retreat. Thick concrete walls bordered the estate.
At the gate, the guards barely hesitated once they saw David, as they had already received instructions from their superiors.
Though they were curious as to who Tyler was but since he was with David, they said nothing
Their radios crackled quietly as they opened the gates.
The driveway was lined with parked black SUVs and tinted sedans. Dozens of security personnel stood guard outside the building, their eyes sharp and posture rigid.
The air buzzed with caution. You didn’t get this many high-ranking government officials and military leaders in one place without raising alarms.
As they entered, more guards stepped aside. David gave a small nod to the familiar faces. Inside, the cool air of the meeting room contrasted with the dry heat outside.
The room was large but not lavish. Just a long rectangular table, a dozen chairs, and a large wall screen turned off.
Around the table sat the pillars of Gumua’s current regime—ministers and military chiefs, all men in their fifties and sixties, wearing suits and uniforms bearing decades of power, entitlement, and wear.
The chatter in the room dropped the moment Tyler and David stepped in.
Some recognized David immediately, offering faint nods. But when their eyes fell on Tyler, confusion rippled across their faces. A boy? A teenager? The whispers began before either of them sat.
David pulled out his chair and sat down, gesturing for Tyler to do the same.
Before David could speak, one of the older generals, a bulky man with graying temples and sharp eyes, spoke up.
"David... who is the boy?"
The room chuckled lightly, tension giving way to mild amusement. Tyler smiled faintly. Then he turned to the man.
"General Kalume. A former war college graduate and decorated twice for logistics strategy. You secretly moved five armored vehicles to the southwest district during the 2018 dispute against protocol, didn’t you?" He asked and paused.
The atmosphere in the room shifted uncomfortably, but Tyler didn’t care as he continued.
"You currently have $2.1 million stored in offshore accounts. Over the past three to six months, you have moved more than $1.5 million to those accounts. Want me to list the account?"
The room fell dead silent.
Kalume’s expression darkened, eyes narrowing.
"Excuse me?"
"I’m not finished," Tyler said, his tone flat. "Your son failed military entrance exams twice, but somehow secured an officer role in internal affairs within a year."
Kalume clenched his fists on the table.
Tyler had a calm look on his face, as he watched and waited for what Kalume would do.
"I know everything about you," he said, then turned to look around the table. "In fact, I know everything about all of you."
"And yet, I’m not here to threaten you. I’m here to ask you a simple question and that is what do you think of this country’s current state?"
No one answered at first, then the Minister of Defense leaned forward. But instead of answering Tyler’s question, he threw one right back at him.
"What does a child like you care about the state of the country?"
Tyler chuckled. "You’re right. I’m young. But I’m not just anyone."
"You all use VaultPay, don’t you? The new financial backbone that replaced the SWIFT system?"
There were a few nods from them.
"I built it."
The room froze.
The Minister of Finance leaned forward, squinting. "You?"
He found it to be extremely unbelievable. He looked towards David for confirmation and he saw David gave him a faint nod.
"That’s impossible," the minister said, but his voice had already lost conviction.
Also, with David’s confirmation, he knew that he has no choice but to accept it as the truth.
"Is it?" Tyler asked. "I didn’t ask you here to debate whether I’m capable. I asked you if you want to continue standing by a dying regime."
He saw the hesitation on their faces and he smiled.
"Silvanus has everything he needs. Funding, weapons, infrastructure. He’s ready to make his move. In fact, it may happen while we’re sitting here."
One of the generals straightened in his seat.
"You’re bluffing."
Tyler turned to him.
"I know what kind of bribes you’ve taken. What you’ve stolen. Who you’ve had eliminated. If Silvanus goes in guns blazing, you won’t just lose your positions—you’ll be dragged through the mud with your families, and I won’t stop him. And it might happen very soon. Maybe while we are still in the meeting."
They all frowned deeply and Tyler knew that it was time to push. He could feel the tension thickening with every word of his, but he continued anyway.
"I also has more spicy information on them and knows every single shady deal every single one of you in the government have done."
Without more being said, they all knew what Tyler was insinuating.
The Minister of Defense immediately flared up but when he received a cold stare from the military chiefs and the Minister of Finance, he shut up and sat back down.
Even without being subtlety threatened by Tyler, they already knew that things was going to be chaotic if Silvanus goes ahead to use violence to take over. And with Tyler supporting him and giving him information, there was high chances that their families would be targeted too.
There was also VaultPay which Tyler can pull out and thrown the country’s economy back into the darkness it was.
Also, there would be massive riots as the tech had been deeply integrated into the government.
Either way he sees it, Tyler has the upper hand. For the military chiefs, they were actually scared as they have no idea what sort of equipments and weapons Tyler had given Silvanus.
They don’t want to clash on the streets of the country and lose. Also, it was just as Tyler said, they are tired with the country’s death like situation, and the president selling out the country’s resources to fill his own pocket.
There was silence. Heavy, suffocating silence.
The Minister of Finance stood first.
"I don’t need convincing. I’ve seen the state budget. We’re circling the drain. If we’re going to flip the board, I’d rather be part of the hand moving the pieces."
He stepped over to Tyler’s side.
The military chiefs glanced at one another. And one by one, they stood up too.
Only the Minister of Defense remained seated, fists clenched and his face flushed with anger.
"You’re all cowards! Treasonous bastards!" he shouted.
He lunged at one of the chiefs, but before he got halfway across the room, another general behind him stepped forward and smacked the back of his head with a rolled steel file holder.
The Minister of Defense crumpled to the floor, unconscious.
Tyler raised an eyebrow. "That wasn’t necessary."
The general shrugged. "He was going to cause a problem. Best to remove him now."
Tyler smiled. "Fair enough."
He turned to the Minister of Finance and the military chiefs that to go back, act normal, but shouldn’t respond when Silvanus makes his move.
"What about the Minister of Defense? He will expose us." The Minister of Finance said.
"The president won’t believe him. He had already betrayed him from the beginning. He was sleeping with the president’s mistress," Tyler smiled.
Everyone looked at Tyler, then at the Minister of Defense who was unconscious on the floor.
Why the meeting ended and a success, Tyler smiled and left with David. The Minister and the military chiefs will handle the Minister of Defense.
All that was left now was for Silvanus to make his move and that would probably be tomorrow.
