Chapter 914: Chapter 915 Young and Promising
After an intense moment of enjoyment, Song Xiaodong held the utterly exhausted Miao Xuanxuan and Xiao Yingying in his arms. The two of them had already fallen asleep, but he, at this moment, couldn’t sleep.
He had initially suspected that Sun Yiyi was Sun One, and had almost been certain of it, but Sun Ziyun’s words made him feel that this might not be the case.
This truly left Song Xiaodong feeling utterly confused.
He thought about it for a long time but still felt conflicted. Some evidence pointed toward Sun Yiyi being Sun One, but certain other things clearly suggested they were two different people.
"Sigh, forget it. Whether Yiyi is Sun One or not, what difference does it make? She hasn’t harmed me, nor has she tried to kill me, and certainly hasn’t done anything against me. Why should I obsess over this?"
Song Xiaodong had initially planned to start investigating the matter tomorrow to get to the bottom of it, but he now decided to abandon this idea. Since Sun Yiyi chose not to speak about it, she must have her reasons. If he investigated too thoroughly, it would diminish the trust between people.
The next day, Song Xiaodong went to the airport with Feng Kexin to pick up Shen Yue.
Feng Kexin and Shen Yue were old acquaintances; they had worked at the same university. Now seeing each other again, both were visibly delighted.
Once in the car, Shen Yue joked, "I have to say, Kexin, I knew Big Brother Song first, but you seem to be closer to him now."
Feng Kexin responded cheerfully, "Of course, he’s my brother! But feel free to call him my husband if you like."
Shen Yue’s face flushed as she retorted, "Kexin, it’s been over two months since we last met, and you’ve changed. You’re no longer as proud and reserved as you used to be."
Feng Kexin chuckled lightly and replied, "Of course, I act reserved and proud on campus. Why would I behave that way around my brother? When I’m with family, I want to relax."
"Alright, I envy you for having such a good brother," Shen Yue said.
Once they reached the Su Family residence, Shen Yue—despite being the daughter of a city mayor—was utterly astonished. She finally understood what it meant to encounter truly wealthy people.
Song Xiaodong had other matters to attend to, so he left Feng Kexin to accompany Shen Yue.
Today, Song Xiaodong had to travel to the provincial capital. Minghe was located in Ningjian Province, and Anjian City was its capital, home to a nationally renowned Medical University.
Song Xiaodong headed to this Medical University, accompanied by Lin Su’er and Liu Yajun.
Liu Yajun was acquainted with the principal of the Medical University and had specifically arranged introductions for Song Xiaodong and Lin Su’er to discuss future collaborations with the university.
The principal of the Medical University was named Chen Qingming, nearing sixty years old, still full of vitality and authority. In today’s society, university principals hold considerable social standing. Even someone as influential as the Patriarch of the Su Family would find it challenging to disregard him.
Joining Chen Qingming was the Vice Dean of the Traditional Chinese Medicine College, Wen Huawen.
Chen Qingming primarily managed the university’s administration. While he had some knowledge of medical skills, he lacked deep specialization due to the demands of his position—true medical experts often don’t have the time to serve as university principals since it would detract from their research.
Wen Huawen, however, was a highly skilled practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, distinguished both in expertise and mastery.
"Principal Chen! Dean Wen, this is Lin Su’er, the Vice Director of Minghe Second Hospital, and this is the hospital’s chief physician, Song Xiaodong," Liu Yajun introduced everyone.
Both Chen Qingming and Wen Huawen showed visible surprise. Chen Qingming remarked, "Vice Director Lin is so young—truly a promising talent."
Wen Huawen, turning to Song Xiaodong, said, "For Doctor Song to already serve as the chief physician at such a young age is truly extraordinary."
Though their words were courteous, both carried traces of skepticism in their eyes. After all, Song Xiaodong and Lin Su’er were indeed very young, raising doubts about their qualifications for such high positions.
After some polite exchanges, everyone sat down. Liu Yajun caught up with the two on old times. Once the dishes were served and some alcohol was shared, the conversation became significantly more relaxed.
"Director Liu, I remember you used to work in the North. What brings you to Minghe?" Wen Huawen asked.
Liu Yajun smiled, replying, "I followed Doctor Song here."
"You followed him?" Wen Huawen gave Song Xiaodong a curious look and continued, "Are you saying Doctor Song’s medical skills are truly exceptional?"
Liu Yajun nodded and explained, "Dean Wen, you know I’m a Western medicine practitioner specializing in neurology. I used to dismiss Traditional Chinese Medicine entirely. Back then, we even argued about which was better—Chinese or Western medicine."
Wen Huawen chuckled, "That’s true. You didn’t think highly of Traditional Chinese Medicine back then."
"But now, I deeply admire it. After witnessing Doctor Song’s methods, I realized it’s not that Traditional Chinese Medicine is ineffective—it’s that incompetent practitioners have tarnished its reputation."
As Liu Yajun spoke, he looked at Song Xiaodong with evident admiration in his eyes.
Both Wen Huawen and Chen Qingming regarded Song Xiaodong with disbelief. Were it not for Liu Yajun’s impeccable reputation in both medical expertise and character, they might have gotten up and left right then.
Liu Yajun continued, "Our Vice Director Lin Su’er is also exceptionally visionary. Our second hospital is committed to becoming a truly welfare-oriented medical institution. I wonder if this aligns with your impressions."
Chen Qingming widened his eyes and turned to Lin Su’er. "I’ve heard about Minghe Second Hospital’s aspirations. It is indeed a major undertaking. In this era where hospitals are seen as profit-driven enterprises, accomplishing such a goal is remarkable. I hadn’t expected someone as young as Vice Director Lin to lead the charge."
Lin Su’er smiled modestly. "I merely had the idea and the determination. It wouldn’t have been possible without support from the Su Family of Minghe."
"Impressive! Vice Director Lin, you’ve earned my utmost respect for this. My earlier impressions underestimated you," Chen Qingming said, raising his glass in deference.
Lin Su’er clinked her glass with Chen Qingming’s and smiled. "Thank you, Principal Chen, for the kind words." She then finished her beer in one gulp.
After taking her drink, Lin Su’er added, "Principal Chen, the reason we’re visiting is to explore potential long-term collaborations with your university. We’d like to offer your students opportunities to intern at our hospital."
Principal Chen responded decisively, "This is absolutely agreeable. For our university, this is undoubtedly a great opportunity."
Lin Su’er smiled gently. "Additionally, Doctor Song would like to serve as a guest lecturer at your university, teaching acupuncture and nurturing talent in this field. May I ask if Principal Chen could accommodate this?"
