Chapter 783 - 784: Escape from the Crocodile’s Mouth
Chapter 783: Chapter 784: Escape from the Crocodile’s Mouth
Even with his swimming speed, Song Xiaodong couldn’t outpace a crocodile; no matter how strong he was, he wouldn’t be a match for a crocodile in water. If the crocodile bit him, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
A crocodile’s bite is honed to perfection through millennia; it is their sole survival skill. Even the most skilled master’s best technique couldn’t compare to the crocodile’s bite.
Once its jaws clamped down on prey, the crocodile wouldn’t let go and would immediately drag its victim underwater to drown.
Fortunately, Song Xiaodong didn’t panic. Suddenly, he stopped swimming and accurately placed both hands on the crocodile’s wide-open mouth, straightening his arms and letting his body go limp.
As the crocodile snapped its jaws shut, it bit down on nothing. Furthermore, Song Xiaodong used the creature’s force to propel himself several meters closer to the shore.
After missing with its bite, the crocodile quickly sank underwater. Song Xiaodong glanced around and spotted another crocodile lunging at Sun Yiyi. Alarmed, he yelled to her to be careful, grabbed the rope, and with a powerful pull of his arms, yanked Sun Yiyi rapidly towards him.
However, the crocodile behind Sun Yiyi was relentless, closing the distance quickly. With its jaws gaping, it was about to snap at her.
At that moment, Sun Yiyi had no room to dodge and lacked Song Xiaodong’s experienced reflexes in such waters. She couldn’t use his techniques to her advantage as she had before.
Just as the crocodile’s jaws were about to clamp down on Sun Yiyi’s waist, Song Xiaodong bellowed fiercely, his arm muscles swelling and then he swung fiercely.
Sun Yiyi felt a powerful force at her waist, and her body suddenly flew out of the water, tracing a solitary arc in the air with Song Xiaodong as the pivot.
In the air, she saw the gaping maw of the attacking crocodile. It missed her legs by a mere inch, sending chills down her spine. If it had managed to bite her, her Kung Fu skills wouldn’t have saved her from ending up in the belly of the crocodile.
However, as she flew past Song Xiaodong, she suddenly realized something was wrong; he had used too much force and, with no support under his feet, plunged into the water.
Now airborne, Sun Yiyi’s mind cleared significantly compared to when she was in the water, and, in the moment before she hit the surface, she managed to grab the rope and gave it a fierce tug.
Pulling while airborne is extremely difficult, relying solely on one’s own strength. Since force is mutual, she also got pulled considerably, but at the very least, she managed to lift Song Xiaodong back to the water’s surface.
She too plunged into the water with a splash.
"Watch out!" Before she hit the water, Sun Yiyi, from her vantage point above, saw four crocodiles within four or five meters of Song Xiaodong—a distance they could cover in a flash. She could only shout a warning.
The two were now less than ten meters from the shore, yet it felt like an insurmountable distance.
Suddenly, Song Xiaodong shouted, "I need to use your shoulder for a moment." As he said this, he pressed his hands on Sun Yiyi’s shoulders and propelled himself out of the water.
Sun Yiyi sank further into the water from his push, but knowing that they had to work together to survive, she moved her arms and legs frantically to provide greater support when Song Xiaodong called out.
Once he leaped from the water, Song Xiaodong could see the crocodiles clearly. The closest one rushed at him, its mouth wide open ready to bite at his feet.
Song Xiaodong split his legs and stepped precisely on the tip of the crocodile’s snout, feeling almost as though he was standing on solid ground due to the great force of the creature’s lunge.
And Song Xiaodong was ready; he grabbed the rope and swung it fiercely, once again flinging Sun Yiyi out of the water.
And this time, because there was a place to push off from, the force of the throw was tremendous. Sun Yiyi’s body shot out like a cannonball from the water, flying straight toward the shore.
Meanwhile, Song Xiaodong was like tossing a hammer, using the momentum of the throw to propel himself toward the shore following Sun Yiyi.
As the shore approached ever closer, a fierce joy surged in Sun Yiyi’s heart. However, that force was spent when she was still two or three meters from the shore; after all, even though she was light, she still weighed nearly a hundred kilograms. For Song Xiaodong to throw her seven or eight meters, especially under these circumstances, he definitely needed considerable strength.
Both of them splashed down into the water. Sun Yiyi felt her feet hit solid ground and was overjoyed. By now, the water was shallow, just past her waist.
However, Song Xiaodong had fallen two meters behind her and had plunged into the water.
With her feet firmly planted, Sun Yiyi now had leverage. She powered off the bottom and bolted straight for the shore. Once she reached land, she could pull Song Xiaodong up.
Two meters!
One and a half meters!
One meter!
The water was only up to her shins. Sun Yiyi was about to cry out in jubilation, but at that moment, a powerful force tugged at her waist, violently pulling her backwards.
Sun Yiyi quickly looked back and saw a horrifying sight: a crocodile had already clamped down on Song Xiaodong, churning the water.
"Song Xiaodong!" Sun Yiyi cried out in despair, her hands frantically pulling, trying to drag Song Xiaodong toward her.
But the ground beneath her feet was all silt, especially slippery. Not only did she fail to pull Song Xiaodong back, but she was also dragged several steps back into the water.
The rope suddenly slackened in her hands, and unprepared, Sun Yiyi fell backward. And a crocodile was already upon her, snapping its jaws directly at her.
Sun Yiyi was quite agile, and now with some solid footing, she skimmed across the surface of the water, darting toward the shore. She narrowly avoided the crocodile’s mouth and, with a combination of rolling and scrambling, finally made it onto the bank.
Once on shore, the crocodile did not pursue. Turning around, Sun Yiyi saw the water churning as if several crocodiles were attacking Song Xiaodong.
"Song Xiaodong!" Sun Yiyi kept shouting, but at that moment, she realized she was utterly helpless.
Before long, the water calmed. Standing at the water’s edge, Sun Yiyi stopped calling out; she just stared blankly at the surface. In her peach blossom eyes, a fierce rage was brewing.
"Song Xiaodong, I will avenge you," she said through gritted teeth, clenching her fists hard. "Next time I come here, I will kill all the crocodiles in this river, not sparing a single one!"
"Hey, you know, we should be advocating for wildlife conservation nowadays, not doing what you’re suggesting," a man’s voice suddenly came from behind her.
Turning around, Sun Yiyi saw Song Xiaodong. She was stunned for a moment, then, with a whoosh, she darted in front of Song Xiaodong and flung herself into his arms.
