Chapter 746: Chapter 747 The Sound Insulation is Still Pretty Good

"Alright, mom is going upstairs now, go deliver the pajamas to him," Shui Qingyue’s mother patted her daughter’s palm and then said with a smile, "There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. He’s your future man, just let things take their natural course."

After that, she smiled and went upstairs.

Shui Qingyue held the pajamas, but she was so lost in thought that she felt a bit at a loss. Not only had her mother not opposed her being with Song Xiaodong, but she was also encouraging her to sleep with him, which made Shui Qingyue feel somewhat uncomfortable.

Reflecting on her mother’s words, Shui Qingyue quickly understood her mother probably didn’t truly wish for her to marry a man with so many other women, but Song Xiaodong’s status was such that her entire family, including her parents, felt that she couldn’t break away from him anymore, so they had tacitly consented.

Knowing the reality couldn’t be changed, what she contemplated was how her daughter could gain a firmer footing with Song Xiaodong, how she could receive more of his affection.

It was quite a helpless choice.

Shaking her head lightly, Shui Qingyue gave a wry smile of resignation. How could her own marriage still ultimately not escape being about benefits?

Looking at the pajamas in her hand, Shui Qingyue finally bit her lip and headed straight for the bathroom, moving slowly. As she neared the door, her face grew redder, and it took several attempts to raise her hand before she gently knocked twice, calling out softly, "Brother Dongzi."

"Hmm, you finally came. If you hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have known how to get out," Song Xiaodong said from inside before opening a crack in the sliding door and then extending his arm out.

Shui Qingyue quickly handed the pajamas to Song Xiaodong, but she couldn’t help but laugh at his words. "If I hadn’t come, would you have just stayed hidden inside?"

"What else could I do? I couldn’t just go out like this, especially with your parents here. What would that look like?"

Song Xiaodong had already dried off and quickly slipped on the pajamas, then opened the door and came out, asking, "Which room should I sleep in?"

"Ah... um..." Shui Qingyue’s face turned an even deeper shade of red.

"What’s the matter?" Song Xiaodong asked, puzzled as he looked at Shui Qingyue.

"You... you can sleep in my room," Shui Qingyue said, twisting her fingers and not daring to look into Song Xiaodong’s eyes.

"Sleep in your room?" Song Xiaodong was slightly surprised, but he quickly understood and said with a smile, "Auntie must have misunderstood. It’s fine, I can sneak off to any room and sleep for a bit."

Hearing him speak this way, Shui Qingyue’s feeling of helplessness vanished. She looked up at Song Xiaodong and said, "Still, you should sleep in my room."

Song Xiaodong looked at Shui Qingyue and smiled slightly before saying, "Alright then, to save you any trouble. But don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you."

"Okay, you go on, I’m going to take a shower," Shui Qingyue said in a low voice.

Song Xiaodong went straight upstairs, knowing where Shui Qingyue’s room was and heading directly there.

The door to the adjacent room opened and Shui Qingyue’s mother came out with a smile, saying, "Little Song, can we have a chat?"

"Of course," Song Xiaodong quickly responded.

"Then let’s talk in Qingyue’s room."

"Okay." Song Xiaodong found it somewhat amusing, as if Shui Qingyue’s mother was supervising him to go to Shui Qingyue’s room.

Entering the room, Shui Qingyue’s mother sat directly at the vanity and said to Song Xiaodong, "Take a seat. This is Qingyue’s room, you don’t need to feel embarrassed."

Song Xiaodong sat down and said, "Auntie must have something she wants to say, right?"

"Yes," Shui Qingyue’s mother nodded, "Qingyue told me everything about you two, and I know about the many women in your life."

Song Xiaodong nodded and said, "Oh, that is indeed something I should have mentioned earlier." He was not panicked, as his relationship with Shui Qingyue was something to be laid out on the table without any need for secrets.

"Little Song, as a mother, this really troubles me. There’s definitely a big difference between being doted on wholeheartedly by one man and sharing with everyone. Can you truly be good to Qingyue?"

"I’m aware of this, so I never forced Qingyue nor pressured her into doing anything unwillingly. We’re just going with the flow. If she’s willing to be with me, of course, I’ll treat her well. If she chooses to be with me, I respect her choice."

Shui Qingyue’s mother frowned slightly and said, "Little Song, if Qingyue were to leave you now, setting aside the issue of losing face for the Su Family, would you truly be willing to let her go?"

Seeing the seriousness in Shui Qingyue’s mother’s question, Song Xiaodong paused, then thought carefully and said rather awkwardly, "Auntie, to be honest, I really might struggle to accept it."

"Why?" Shui Qingyue’s mother’s eyes immediately brightened somewhat.

"How should I put it... I thought I was open-minded, that I would respect Qingyue’s thoughts, considering how many women are in my family. Staying with me can’t compare to the undivided love of a man, but... honestly, it would really make me unhappy, uncomfortable. Maybe this is male chauvinism, but without realizing it, I’ve come to view her as my woman. If she were to fall in love with someone else, I’m afraid I really wouldn’t take it well."

To Song Xiaodong’s surprise, Shui Qingyue’s mother’s face suddenly showed a smile as she said, "That’s a relief, that’s a relief."

Seeing Song Xiaodong’s puzzled look, she continued with a smile, "I was worried you might not have liked Qingyue at all. Now, it seems you do have her in your heart."

Song Xiaodong rubbed his nose, saying, "That is indeed the case now, I hadn’t realized it before."

Shui Qingyue’s mother said, "Since that’s the case, then I’m relieved. I was afraid you would treat her as a mere plaything, which would make Qingyue’s life miserable."

Song Xiaodong asserted firmly, "You can be at ease about that, Auntie. If I, Song Xiaodong, decide to have Qingyue with me, I will definitely make her happy without disappointing her."

Shui Qingyue’s mother met Song Xiaodong’s gaze and then showed a contented smile, saying, "That’s good, then I’ll leave Qingyue in your hands."

"Yes," Song Xiaodong nodded.

"Then I’ll go rest now," Shui Qingyue’s mother stood up and walked to the door, but then turned around and said, "The sound insulation in our rooms is pretty good." Only then did she leave.

Song Xiaodong was taken aback for a moment, and then he couldn’t help but smile. That was clearly telling him that whatever they wanted to do, they shouldn’t worry about making too much noise or any sound carrying through. His mother-in-law was really open-minded.
