Chapter 732: Chapter 733: Song Xiaoru’s Life

Under circumstances Shen Ruoqing could not comprehend, Old Lady Wang and Wang Youqiang apologized and walked away, downtrodden. Following that, the HR department asked her to return to her journalist role.

At this moment, Shen Ruoqing felt quite bewildered. This didn’t seem real at all. Could it be that Old Lady Wang had some greater scheme in play?

She sat in the office and pondered for a while before suddenly recalling what Lin Su’er had said the previous night. She quickly grabbed her phone and called Lin Su’er.

"Vice Director Lin, I’ve resumed my role as a journalist, and the Wang family has apologized to me. Did you have a hand in this?"

Lin Su’er replied, "Well... consider it a favor I asked someone for. Don’t think too much about it. I know you’re a kind mother, so I hoped you could properly take care of your daughter."

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Shen Ruoqing thanked her repeatedly. Knowing that Lin Su’er had intervened, she felt relieved. This meant the Wang family wasn’t plotting anything sinister; they were truly being suppressed.

After the Wang family conveyed their stance to Shen Ruoqing, Old Lady Wang then called CEO Zhao.

CEO Zhao said straightforwardly, "Although the contract can continue, it will only last till its expiration, and that’s only six months away."

Old Lady Wang, visibly annoyed, responded, "CEO Zhao, I have fully complied with your demands. Don’t you think this is a bit too much?"

CEO Zhao explained, "Honestly, I think giving you an additional six months is quite generous. It gives you some time to adjust, and you should understand that this was the Su Family’s decision. You’ve already displeased the Su Family officials. Consider yourself lucky that they haven’t dealt with you directly. What more do you want?"

"I..." Old Lady Wang suddenly lost her temper. Even Su Family’s second master didn’t cover for her. She should have known better than to offend someone she couldn’t contend with.

"That damn woman, cozying up to such a powerful figure, it’s infuriating." Old Lady Wang was extremely annoyed but powerless. Against the enormous Su Family, how could she possibly stir trouble? At least there was still half a year left, a buffer period during which she could perhaps sell the company and make some money. Otherwise, once the six months were up and the company couldn’t operate, it would be utterly worthless.

For Song Xiaodong, the matter regarding Shen Ruoqing was just a minor episode. Most of the tasks were now being handled by Lin Su’er, and he didn’t need to pay much attention.

As the Spring Festival drew closer, Song Xiaodong’s longing for his sister grew even more intense. With the Su Family’s affairs on track, he decided to bring Song Xiaoru back.

Though Song Xiaodong respected Song Xiaoru’s decision not to contact her, he couldn’t quite let go. So, he had secretly tracked her location through her phone and even arranged for a female expert from the Su Family to go there.

The expert was only responsible for ensuring Song Xiaoru’s safety. Unless there was a special emergency, there was no need for her to intervene to prevent Song Xiaoru from finding out.

After leaving Song Xiaodong, Song Xiaoru arrived in Little Jade, a town with beautiful scenery and rustic local customs. Although the video she once shared with Song Xiaodong had been released online, it mainly focused on Song Xiaodong, so her face wasn’t very clear. Furthermore, she had deliberately changed her name, so people didn’t recognize her.

She found a job in a small company with only seven or eight employees. The daily routine of going to work and leaving on time was quite relaxing and pleasant. However, she often thought of Song Xiaodong, and sometimes she couldn’t help but want to return to his side.

But whenever she thought of herself, suddenly becoming Song Xiaodong’s woman, she couldn’t face Miao Qingqing and the others. That’s why she remained hidden here, unwilling to return.

The day was ending, and there wasn’t much work left, so a few colleagues gathered to chat.

"Song Ru, let’s go out for dinner tonight," suggested the company’s boss, a man in his thirties named Wu Zheng. He was married, but his wife was back home in the countryside looking after children and elderly family members. He was a notorious flirt outside, and upon seeing a great beauty like Song Xiaoru, he was immediately smitten and had been making advances toward her for a while.

Song Xiaoru had removed the name "Xiao" from her name when she changed it.

"No, thanks. I’m feeling a bit under the weather and would like to go home to rest," Song Xiaoru replied, finding an excuse to refuse.

Wu Zheng instantly responded, "Feeling unwell? You should hurry to the hospital then. Let me drive you over."

"It’s not that serious. Resting at home will suffice," Song Xiaoru assured him.

Wu Zheng, with a stern face, stated, "You can’t be so negligent with your health. You’re an employee in my company, a key contributor. I can’t allow anything to happen to you. Looking after your health is also my responsibility."

The other employees despised him silently. They never received such treatment, and here was Wu Zheng, who was married, harassing someone like this, which was utterly disgraceful.

But they all relied on Wu Zheng for their livelihoods, so nobody dared to say anything. They just pretended not to hear and gathered to one side, deliberately engaging in unrelated conversations.

Song Xiaoru frowned slightly and said, "Thank you, CEO Wu, but really, I’m fine. I can go home by myself."

"Why be so formal with me? It’s just a matter of hitting the gas," Wu Zheng laughed, then jokingly added, "I mean, Song Ru, you don’t think I have ulterior motives and want to do something to you, right?"

It wasn’t just Song Xiaoru; even the other employees thought, "You clearly have ulterior motives."

Of course, Song Xiaoru couldn’t say that outright. She just smiled and said, "CEO Wu... actually, I have plans, so..."

"You have plans?" Wu Zheng’s face soured instantly, but he quickly added, "You’re just making excuses. Since you’ve been at our company, I’ve never seen you close with anyone or talking on the phone for long."

Song Xiaoru smiled faintly and replied, "I didn’t want it to affect my work."

"Well, then... invite them over tonight. Let’s all go out for dinner to celebrate," Wu Zheng still doubted her.Song Xiaoru was suddenly at a loss. With such an excuse, Wu Zheng was still not convinced. How could she manage?

Just then, someone entered the door. It was hard to see the person’s face, for in front of them was a large bouquet of pink perfumed lilies, spreading fragrance throughout the room.

Everyone stared blankly at the large bouquet of lilies. Just the flowers alone seemed to cost a few hundred, a truly shocking scene for the people of the small town.
