Chapter 720: Chapter 721 Brother Dongzi Absolutely Fine
"What’s wrong? Why such a long face? Is work too hard?"
After a week at the hospital, Lin Su’er saw Song Xiaodong return looking listless and hugged her gently as she asked.
Lin Su’er shook her head and said, "It’s not that it’s hard, but today I saw something that really upset me."
Song Xiaodong replied, "Oh, then tell me about it, and let’s see if I can come up with some ideas to help."
Lin Su’er continued, "Someone came to the hospital for treatment today. After the doctor prescribed some medicine, they had a severe allergic reaction. They’re still in our hospital being resuscitated. I don’t know if they can be saved."
"This kind of thing happens quite often in hospitals."
"But I personally saw the patient, a little girl around five or six years old, screaming in pain, and her mother crying incessantly. That helplessness really made me very sad. Brother Dongzi... can you help them?"
Song Xiaodong gently smiled and said, "Okay, let’s go over there. I have to show my support for my Su’er and let everyone know that Su’er’s role as vice director is well deserved."
"That’s great!" Lin Su’er immediately stood up, excited. She didn’t care how others viewed her, but seeing the patients in such pain was too much for her to bear.
The two directly went to the hospital and then arrived at the door of the resuscitation room where a woman who looked to be in her late twenties stood at the door, her eyes vacant as tears flowed nonstop.
"That’s her," Lin Su’er said softly.
Upon hearing a voice, the woman suddenly turned her head, gave Song Xiaodong and Lin Su’er a glance, and quickly returned to her wooden expression, staring at the resuscitation room door without saying a word.
Just then, a nurse rushed out, and the woman immediately stepped forward, grabbing the nurse’s hand and asked anxiously, "How is she? How is my daughter?"
The nurse, Zhao Rui, quickly replied, "There’s no immediate danger to her life; don’t worry." Then when she saw Lin Su’er and Song Xiaodong, she was slightly startled and said, "Vice Director Lin, Mr. Song... Sir!"
Lin Su’er said in a hurry, "Zhao Rui, quickly arrange for Brother Dongzi to treat the patient."
Zhao Rui hesitated and said, "What?"
Lin Su’er urged, "Brother Dongzi is a Divine Doctor; with him taking action, there won’t be a problem with the patient. Please arrange it quickly."
Zhao Rui felt her mind was not working well enough - how could Song Xiaodong suddenly be a Divine Doctor? But with Lin Su’er’s instruction, she didn’t need to worry about anything else and said hurriedly, "Then please come with me to sterilize."
Just as Song Xiaodong was about to follow Zhao Rui inside, the woman suddenly rushed over and knelt in front of him, hugging his legs as she sobbed, "Doctor, you must save my daughter. If you save her, I am willing to do anything, no matter what it takes."
Song Xiaodong said softly, "Don’t worry, I’ll go in and see what I can do. I will do my best to save your child."
Lin Su’er immediately added, "Sister, don’t worry. Doctor Song is a very capable doctor. With him on the case, your child will definitely be fine."
"Thank you! Thank you!" Hope suddenly ignited in the woman’s eyes.
Song Xiaodong followed Zhao Rui inside, quickly disinfected, then changed into a doctor’s coat and came to the patient’s side.
Standing in front of the resuscitation table were two doctors, who were conversing in low voices at the moment, both with furrowed brows. The little girl lay on the operating table, her complexion pale as if she were already dead.
"Let me take a look," Song Xiaodong spoke softly, then went over and took the little girl’s hand.
"Who is this?" the two doctors asked in unison.
Zhao Rui hurriedly said, "This doctor was invited by Vice Director Lin."
"A doctor invited by Vice Director Lin?" The two doctors furrowed their brows even more. They were actually very resentful of a young woman in her twenties becoming a vice director in the hospital, but they didn’t dare to express it out loud. Hearing that this doctor was found by Lin Su’er, they naturally harbored contempt.
"If he’s going to treat her, then he can be the attending physician. We won’t sign anything," one of the doctors said after exchanging glances with the other.
Zhao Rui was taken aback. Clearly, the two doctors were shirking responsibility. As she wondered how to respond, Song Xiaodong had already said, "Yes, I’ll take responsibility for this patient. You can ask them to leave, Zhao Rui, you stay."
The doctors’ faces turned ugly. One of them snorted and said, "Of course, that’s fine. Let’s see how you explain yourself when you can’t cure her."
Once the two doctors and another nurse left, Song Xiaodong directly started the treatment. Zhao Rui watched as Song Xiaodong inserted one silver needle after another into the girl’s body, her eyes widening in astonishment.
This Song Xiaodong was actually using Traditional Chinese Medicine’s Acupuncture Technique...Could this really work?
After the two doctors left, the patient’s mother rushed forward and asked, "How... How is my daughter?"
The doctors replied, "We are no longer the attending doctors. We don’t know what might happen. But looking at your daughter’s condition, it isn’t very optimistic. You’d better be prepared mentally."
"Ah!" The woman was stunned for a moment, then tears streamed down her cheeks again as she choked up and said, "No... that can’t be. It definitely won’t be like that."
Lin Su’er quickly took hold of the woman, saying, "Don’t worry. Doctor Song is in there, and everything will definitely be alright. I assure you."
One of the doctors immediately said, "Vice Director Lin, this isn’t the time to let your emotions get the better of you. Not to mention such acute illnesses without an identifiable cause, even a common cold can be fatal. A doctor should never make such statements. If, by some chance, there’s an accident, our hospital can’t bear that responsibility."
Another added, "The most important thing for a hospital is to clarify the most extreme situations first, not to pick the best things to tell the patients’ families. By doing this, you’re being too irresponsible to the hospital."
Lin Su’er’s face turned red with anger and she said, "I know, but I believe that Doctor Song will definitely cure the patient."
The patient’s relative turned pale with fear from the doctors’ words, her legs trembling nonstop. But hearing Lin Su’er’s words, she clutched Lin Su’er’s hand tightly. In this moment, what she really wanted to hear were those hopeful words from Lin Su’er.
Lin Su’er herself was also feeling quite anxious, yet thinking of Song Xiaodong’s medical skill, her heart settled down. She held the woman’s hand back, and said softly, "Don’t worry, it’ll be fine." As she spoke, she couldn’t help but stand a bit taller, confident that Song Xiaodong wouldn’t let her down.
