Chapter 695: Chapter 696: Aunt Visits

Song Xiaodong had called Lu Lang before returning home, telling him about the day’s events at the Su Family, to which Lu Lang immediately agreed to help relay the message.

Less than half an hour later, Lu Lang called back and said, "The higher-ups want you to take over, to prevent other families from growing stronger."

Song Xiaodong’s eyes narrowed as he said, "I understand."

Lu Lang laughed and said, "Yes, this is a good opportunity. With the Su Family as your foundation, your future development will be much easier."

Song Xiaodong gave a bitter smile and said, "It’s not that development is easier, but rather the burden has become heavier. I fear that sooner or later I will become the public enemy of all the major families."

Lu Lang laughed heartily and said, "That’s something I don’t understand, but I know you, my boy, have made a fortune—ten billion US dollars, I’m so envious."

Song Xiaodong couldn’t help but laugh as well and said, "Then I’ll give it to you. You can handle this."

"No deal! I’d rather stick to my troops. I can’t handle this kind of thing. You’ve grown up so quickly. Just a few years ago, you were still my soldier, and now you’re on an equal footing with me—oh, no, you’re even better than me now. You’ll have to look out for me in the future."

"Old Chief, you flatter me, it makes me feel unworthy."

The two of them joked briefly before hanging up the phone.

However, the expression on Song Xiaodong’s face became grave. He was clear about what the higher-ups meant. By taking over the Su Family, he was truly taking up this burden, and from now on he would inevitably face various disputes.

But Song Xiaodong was even more aware that he had no choice but to accept. Without the support from above, how could he compete with the Su and Sun families? Moreover, since they valued him so highly, he had no reason not to take on this burden.

When he got home, Song Xiaodong discussed the matter with Miao Qingqing and others. Miao Qingqing clearly had not anticipated that the Su Family would propose such an idea, and since there was already a directive from above, Miao Qingqing immediately started thinking about how to handle the matter in a way that would benefit Song Xiaodong the most.

In this regard, Shui Qingyue offered many suggestions. After all, she understood the family affairs much better than Miao Qingqing, which saved Miao Qingqing a great deal of effort. Soon, they had also drafted some preliminary shares agreement proposals for investing in the Su Family.

At about eight in the evening, Su Yuya actually came to Song Xiaodong’s house.

Miao Qingqing and Miao Xuanxuan were somewhat uncomfortable upon seeing Su Yuya, though they couldn’t say exactly why.

Su Yuya, however, smiled slightly and said, "What’s this? Your aunt stops by for a visit to see you, and you’re not welcoming me?"

"Welcome! Welcome!" Miao Qingqing and Miao Xuanxuan hurriedly let Su Yuya in.

Su Yuya was quite casual, sitting down and saying, "Get me something to drink. After debating with those selfish people, I didn’t even eat, and my throat is parched."

Shui Qingyue quickly poured a glass of juice for Su Yuya, who gulped it down in one go, then sighed with relief and said, "That’s better."

Then she looked around at everyone and said, "Don’t look at me like that. I’m not here as a guest. I just don’t want to argue with them anymore. I’ve said what I needed to say. If they can’t see the situation clearly, then there’s nothing I can do. I’m married off; I have to think about my husband’s family now. I’ve done so much for the Su Family, I’ve fulfilled my duty as a member."

Miao Qingqing said, "Aunt, if it’s impossible, then let it go..."

Su Yuya, smiling, said, "Yes, and that’s why I’ve let go now. Today, I ran here to find some peace. It’s always harmonious at your house; I’m thinking of staying here more often."

Miao Qingqing said, "No problem at all. You’re welcome anytime."

After chatting for a bit, Shui Qingyue prepared some food, and Su Yuya began to eat heartily at the dining table. This mature woman had a charm all her own while eating.

Su Yuya turned to Song Xiaodong and said with a smile, "Little Song, you really showed some dominance today, worthy of being the man Qingqing and Xuanxuan chose. If I were just a few years younger, I might have been attracted to you too."

Song Xiaodong smiled slightly and said, "Aunt, you flatter me."

Miao Xuanxuan immediately added, "But Aunt, you’re not old at all. When we’re together, others could mistake us for sisters."

Su Yuya laughed lightly and said, "You really know how to sweet talk. I’m already thirty-six, how can I compare to you young ones?"

"What? Aunt is thirty-six already? I thought you weren’t even thirty yet." Xiao Yingying said, surprised.

Su Yuya burst into laughter and said, "You little girl, I do love hearing you talk."

The atmosphere was quite harmonious as they laughed and talked. After dinner, everyone returned to the living room, and Su Yuya looked at Song Xiaodong and said, "Little Song, I really hope you can take charge of the Su Family, or else it’s finished."

Song Xiaodong smiled slightly and said, "If they agree, I don’t mind."

Su Yuya said, "I know these people well—they’re all selfish—but this time, they have no choice but to agree. They have no other options now, and all they are thinking about is how to negotiate the best benefits with you."

Song Xiaodong’s eyes narrowed as he said, "If I’m to take charge of the Su Family, then my word is law. Anyone who disobeys can get out."

"Yes!" Su Yuya clapped her hands excitedly and said, "That’s the spirit a head of a big family should have! My father had the same dominance when he was young, but as he aged, he became moderate. Otherwise, our Su Family would have reached greater heights."

Song Xiaodong spoke indifferently, "Qingqing and I have discussed it; our basic principle is to break down the family structure of the Su Family into a shareholding system, managing it like a major company. All Su family members will hold shares, and the ratio of these shares is for the Su Family members to figure out. I won’t interfere, but once it’s settled, they will be shareholders, and they can’t act as before without responsibility."

"That’s quite a unique approach. Who knows if they’ll agree. But since you want to take this on, I won’t interfere. After all, I don’t have any shares in this."

"Aunt, how could you not have any?"

Su Yuya shrugged her shoulders and said, "I married out, so I’m not a Su family member anymore, right? Look at those people; would they share their shares with me? Big families are like this, favoring men over women. Besides, I don’t mind these things. As long as I can keep our Su Family from falling, I’ll be content."

Miao Xuanxuan said, "Aunt, since it’s like this, why do you still take this to heart so much? You really are something."

Su Yuya smiled slightly and said, "What can I do when my sense of family honor is strong? I guess after a while, you’ll feel the same kind of honor, or maybe you already do."
