Chapter 666: Chapter 667: I Am Not Willing

The Shui Family and the Liu Family were two of the top families in Lin City. Their union was an extraordinary event. On the day of the wedding, guests had converged in droves. Leaders of Lin City, members of other families, and almost all of the wealthy had been present.

The wedding ceremony took place at the Liu Family’s grounds, on an outdoor lawn. Guests, dressed in luxurious attire, gathered in groups, engaged in discussions about the impact this union between the two powerful families would have on Lin City.

As the wedding march began, everyone assembled in the center of the venue, where a stage was set up. At that time, Liu Minghui stood on the stage, with a priest by his side, and rows of young men and women to either side.

Below the platform was a bright red carpet flanked by flowers, with numerous cameras set up all around, ready to record the grand wedding ceremony.

"The bride is coming!"

Following a loud shout, Shui Qingyue walked down the red carpet on her father’s arm, advancing toward the stage step by step. She was so beautiful that she seemed like a fairy descending from heaven, eliciting endless praise from the crowd.

It was a Western-style wedding, and the priest began to officiate.

"Today we gather in the presence of God and these guests to celebrate the sacred matrimony of Liu Minghui and Shui Qingyue. Marriage is a precious treasure bequeathed by God since the beginning of creation. Therefore, one must not enter into it lightly, but reverently and earnestly. In this sacred moment, these two are to be joined. If anyone can show just cause why they may not be lawfully married, speak now or forever hold your peace."

Shui Qingyue’s body jerked slightly, and she involuntarily scanned the crowd with her eyes, seemingly hoping for something. However, no one stepped forward.

Liu Minghui, standing next to Shui Qingyue, moved his lips slightly and whispered, "Are you hoping that lecher would stand up for you?"

Shui Qingyue’s body shuddered and she said, "Is there a point to saying something like that?"

"Oh, there is. I forgot to tell you, tonight is our wedding night, and I’ve prepared a lot of fun things for you. Don’t you want to know what they are?"

"I don’t want to know." Shui Qingyue bit her lip, knowing Liu Minghui’s words would never be pleasant.

"I’m going to tell you anyway. They cost me a good amount of money. The whips are custom-made, making a great sound and leaving red marks with every lash. Then there are the candles, made from the world’s top candle-making craft, and plenty of lifelike toys in all sizes. There’s one modeled after a black man that I’m sure will be very exciting for you."

"You..." Shui Qingyue felt a chill from head to toe, and her face turned pale, although it wasn’t visible because of the makeup.

"Are you excited? Don’t worry, we can play all night. And after that, I can play with you every day. You like being played with by other men, don’t you? I’ve invited a few friends over. In a few days, we’ll set a date, and let everyone have a turn with you. You’ll enjoy it so much you’ll be on cloud nine. How about that? Your husband is really considerate, isn’t he, even finding you men?"

"You... you’re shameless," Shui Qingyue said, teeth clenched, fists tightly closed, her nails digging into her palms.

At this moment, the priest asked Liu Minghui, "Liu Minghui, do you take Shui Qingyue to be your wife?"

Liu Minghui, with a radiant smile, answered, "Yes, I do."

The priest continued, "Will you, in wealth or in poverty, in good health or in illness, love and stay true to her forevermore?"

Liu Minghui, still wearing that smile, glanced at Shui Qingyue and replied, "Yes, I do."

The priest turned to Shui Qingyue, asking, "Shui Qingyue, do you take Liu Minghui to be your husband?"

At that moment, Shui Qingyue simply looked at Liu Minghui, silent.

"Shui Qingyue, do you take Liu Minghui to be your husband?" the priest, noting Shui Qingyue’s silence, smiled and asked again. Sometimes, in the excitement of a wedding, a bride might forget to answer, and simply needed to be asked again.

But Shui Qingyue kept staring at Liu Minghui, still without answering.

Liu Minghui, still smiling, whispered softly, "Do you not want to marry me? But can you really refuse? Do you dare not to marry me?"

At this point, the crowd began to murmur with confusion. Some young girls, thinking Shui Qingyue was either moved or too shy, started shouting encouragingly, "Say yes to him! Say yes!"

Shui Qingyue took a deep breath and said, "I don’t."

Silence! The scene abruptly went quiet, only to erupt into a buzz of whispers, as the faces of the Liu Family members turned extremely ugly.

The Shui Family members looked just as displeased. Shui Qingyue’s mother hurriedly rushed over, whispering, "Qingyue, what are you thinking? Just agree."

Shui Qingyue gently shook her head, her resolve unwavering, saying, "Mom, I don’t want to. I know this is embarrassing for you, but marrying him would be a life of misery. Rather than that, I’d rather be dead."

As she spoke, Shui Qingyue suddenly pulled out a small fruit knife and slashed towards her own neck with such decisiveness that no one could have anticipated it.

"Ah!" Everyone gasped. It was such a sudden act that neither those on the stage nor in the audience could react in time; the fruit knife had already reached her neck.

"Ting!" A light sound rang out, and Shui Qingyue’s fruit knife was struck by something, her hand flinging outward, narrowly missing her throat.

Shui Qingyue’s mother embraced her immediately, her face turning white, her legs weak, she urged frantically, "Let’s talk about it, anything can be discussed; you mustn’t seek death."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; it had nearly been a blood-spattered scene.

The whispering among the audience resumed, all eyes on the Shui and Liu Family members. The union of these two distinguished families had turned into such a spectacle, and many were watching with excitement, curious to see how the families would handle the situation.

At that moment, Liu Minghui’s face looked incredibly terrible, but beneath that, there was a hint of excitement. Pretending concern, he said hastily, "Qingyue, what are you doing? If you don’t want to marry me, just say so; I won’t force you. How could you think of killing yourself?"

But at that moment, Shui Qingyue was just staring blankly at the crowd below, then slowly, a smile spread across her face. She produced a silver needle and said in a steady voice, "My second request is that you take me away!"
