Return to the City: The Strongest King -
Chapter 644 - 645: You Killed Me
Chapter 644: Chapter 645: You Killed Me
Song Xiaodong stiffened his neck and declared, "Just kill me then. Walking in this kind of snow, I’ll die of exhaustion. You guys should find another guide. I’m not cut out for this."
Eldest Brother hurried over and grasped Third Brother’s arm, speaking politely, "Young man, could you think of some other way? It’s our first time coming here to hunt, and we’ve lost quite a few things. If you don’t help us, we won’t just be unable to hunt, we could actually die here."
"Well... I am a kind-hearted person after all. If you want to speed things up, there’s not exactly no way to do it."
"What way?" Eldest Brother’s face lit up instantly.
Song Xiaodong said, "You could snowboard. That would naturally be faster."
A few people paused, then all shook their heads and said, "We can’t snowboard."
"Oh come on, you guys are too daft. You don’t even know that? Fine, I’ll teach you so it won’t slow us down. Go chop down a tree first; we need to make snowboards, otherwise, you can’t slide on the snow with your shoes."
The two of them quickly dragged over a tree with a diameter of about twenty centimeters, then Song Xiaodong instructed them to split the tree into several planks.
Although these people had never truly snowboarded before, they had seen snowboards, and quickly managed to make them.
Then Song Xiaodong mounted the snowmobile, tying two ropes to the back for them to hold onto while he led them from the front.
Song Xiaodong had no intention of immediately escaping on the snowmobile; in such a dense forest, the snowmobile couldn’t go very fast anyway. They wouldn’t be able to maintain it for long, but for short sprints, he still had no chance to get away.
The men didn’t try to seize Song Xiaodong’s snowmobile. They were quite interested in this novel idea.
At first, they were a bit wobbly and nearly fell, but it didn’t take many minutes for them to maintain their balance.
For such experts, mastering balance was really too easy.
Eldest Brother praised Song Xiaodong, saying, "That’s a great idea, young man. You’re very smart."
Song Xiaodong hehe’d with a smirk, boasting, "Of course, I’ve always been smart. Hunting in this forest, if you’re not smart, then wolves and bears would have gobbled you up long ago."
In fact, Song Xiaodong had no clue when the reindeer migrated or even their migration route. Right now, he most wanted to shake these people off.
But they all kept a very close watch on him, so much that even when Song Xiaodong got up to take a leak at night, they would immediately notice, leaving him no opportunity.
This left Song Xiaodong with no choice. His only possibility was to lead them to a place and then take his chance to slip away.
Song Xiaodong also wanted to pry some information from their mouths, to find out what exactly they were up to and who they really were, but their lips were sealed. The only way they addressed each other was as Eldest Brother, Second Brother, Third Brother, and Fourth Brother.
Two days later, as Song Xiaodong was leading them through the forest, the roar of a helicopter suddenly came from above.
"It’s here!" Third Brother exclaimed excitedly, "Hurry and follow the helicopter."
Song Xiaodong said, "Oh man, how am I supposed to keep up?"
Third Brother roared, "If I tell you to follow, you follow. Stop the chatter."
Song Xiaodong had no choice but to head in the direction the helicopter had flown. Before long, to his surprise, the helicopter returned the way it came.
Eldest Brother spoke at that moment, "They’ve returned so quickly, it means their landing spot must be close by. Kid, stop."
Song Xiaodong brought the motorcycle to a halt, and those people immediately began unloading their belongings from the motorcycle, which turned out to be several guns.
Song Xiaodong immediately said, "These guns are really advanced, much better than my hunting rifle."
Third Brother flashed a grin and said, "Yeah, they’re dead accurate for hunting. Eldest Brother, what should we do with this kid?"
Eldest Brother replied, "Take him with us. Otherwise, it might be difficult to find our way out when we leave."
Third Brother agreed with a nod, gave Song Xiaodong a shove, and said, "Kid, do whatever I tell you to. When I say don’t speak, if you dare utter a single word, I’ll blow your brains out with one shot."
"You... what the hell are you planning to do?" Song Xiaodong cried out in a panic.
"Don’t ask what you shouldn’t. Rest assured, if you help us succeed, you’ll get your share of the benefits," Eldest Brother said sternly, and then the four men began to move forward with Song Xiaodong in tow.
An hour later, Song Xiaodong and the others stopped. Ahead of them were several tents with a dozen people gathered around, chatting and laughing.
The usually quiet Second Brother whispered at this point, "Fourteen people in total, six of them experts. The rest, eight of them, are just riffraff."
Third Brother chuckled and said, "One shot each, we’ll take care of them quickly. Eh, what’s wrong with the guns?"
Song Xiaodong watched as Third Brother fiddled with his gun and couldn’t help but want to laugh. This idiot had obviously never used a gun in such cold weather and didn’t realize the gun must have gotten water inside at some point; the bolt inside was completely frozen.
It could be said that the guns in their hands had become completely useless.
This caused the men to look at each other, and then Eldest Brother immediately glared at Song Xiaodong, saying, "Give us your gun."
"Uh..." Song Xiaodong wanted to refuse, but Second Brother had already swiftly moved behind him. A dagger was already pointing at his throat, and Third Brother had taken his gun straightaway.
Song Xiaodong hurriedly said, "Don’t do anything, I’ll be quiet."
However, Second Brother raised his hand and struck Song Xiaodong’s nape, seeking to knock him out.
Song Xiaodong didn’t dodge, just subtly twisted his neck. After taking a hit there, he immediately slumped down limply.
Second Brother didn’t think otherwise—such a slap was enough to knock out an ordinary person. Then, the four men signaled to each other and stealthily approached the group of people.
After they left, Song Xiaodong immediately rubbed his neck and then slowly slipped away in the direction they had come from. If he didn’t run now, then when? He didn’t want to wait until after they finished fighting to be captured again.
He hadn’t gotten far when gunfire erupted behind him, followed by a growing volume of shots, which seemed to be moving in his direction.
"Fuck, these four idiots attacked without assessing the strength of the others; they’re clearly getting thrashed," Song Xiaodong cursed inwardly. As the sound of gunfire approached, without thinking, he ducked into a snow pit.
Several people ran past him, and soon another group rushed by, but a gunshot rang out—a woman screamed and then collapsed onto Song Xiaodong.
"Ah! There’s another one of their people here!" The woman suddenly discovered Song Xiaodong and cried out.
Song Xiaodong’s face turned dark—his presence there would surely lead to a misunderstanding. Since they managed to chase the four men away, he obviously was no match for them. If they killed him by mistake, it would be a truly unjust death.
