Chapter 545: Chapter 546: Brain-dead Fans
Lin Shu directly took Song Xiaodong and Zhong Chuling to the biggest shopping mall here.
The young girl immediately headed to the mobile phone section and said with a mischievous smile, "I’m saying, Grandpa Song..." She emphasized the word "Grandpa" heavily on purpose, to tease Song Xiaodong. She was really going all out.
"What’s the matter?" Song Xiaodong said with a smile, "Want to buy a phone? Then pick one."
Lin Shu chuckled, "You said it, so I won’t hold back. Come on, Xiao Ling, let’s each pick a phone."
"No need, mine still works," Zhong Chuling quickly declined.
"What do you mean it works? Your phone is so old it lags like crazy, why keep using it? You called him ’Grandpa’ for nothing, let him cough up some cash, what’s there to fear?" Lin Shu said as she unceremoniously dragged Zhong Chuling to the counter, asking directly for the latest Apple phone.
"Go ahead and pick one, it’s no big deal. Just consider it a gift for our first meeting." Song Xiaodong said, seeing Zhong Chuling looking quite embarrassed.
Zhong Chuling said, "But... you treated my dad, and I haven’t even..."
"So the ’Grandpa’ was called in vain? We are his granddaughters, it’s only natural for him to treat us. Come on, hurry and pick."
Ignoring Zhong Chuling’s refusal, Lin Shu still helped her choose the latest model of the Apple phone, and also the one with the highest configuration. But seeing Song Xiaodong’s smiling face, who didn’t seem to mind at all, Lin Shu felt annoyed, "Wait before you pay, I also want to buy an iPad."
"Sure, let’s each pick one of those too," Song Xiaodong still appeared nonchalant.
After the two finished picking, Song Xiaodong simply paid with a card, spending over thirty thousand yuan. Lin Shu, observing Song Xiaodong’s carefree expression, said, "Hey, we spent so much of your money, and you don’t feel a pinch?"
"Why would I feel a pinch over such a small amount?" Song Xiaodong said with a laugh.
Lin Shu slapped her forehead, "Small amount... Ugh, I forgot, you seem to be pretty wealthy. I think I made a bad deal; I should have bought more."
"Go ahead and buy whatever else you want," Song Xiaodong didn’t mind. A few tens of thousands indeed were just small change to him; he didn’t care at all, even if it were a few million.
Lin Shu said huffily, "Good, since you said so, let’s go buy more. Hmph, I’m going to get a watch, I’ll bankrupt you!"
Zhong Chuling was startled, quickly saying, "No, no, that’s absolutely not okay. Xiao Shu, we can’t repay kindness with ingratitude."
"Hey, he was kind to you, okay? He’s my enemy, and he even touched my butt."
Lin Shu’s shout was quite loud, drawing the attention of the people around them, especially towards him. They looked at him with odd expressions which made Song Xiaodong’s face turn dark immediately.
Zhong Chuling quickly pulled Lin Shu, "You... shouldn’t talk nonsense about this."
Only then did Lin Shu notice everyone’s gaze and her face turned red with embarrassment. She grabbed Zhong Chuling and fled in panic.
Finding a decent hotel, Song Xiaodong took the two girls to a private room. Lin Shu, having lost face just now, was not about to let Song Xiaodong off the hook and specifically ordered the more expensive items. But seeing Song Xiaodong’s unfazed demeanor just made her feel no sense of achievement, which frustrated her even more.
After eating for a while, Lin Shu and Zhong Chuling took a trip to the restroom. When they came back, their eyes were filled with excitement.
"Hey, guess who we just saw?" Lin Shu said proudly to Song Xiaodong, winking at him. There were no other people around; she wouldn’t call him ’Grandpa’. She was even annoyed having to use his name, so she just used a "Hey" to address him.
"Who did you see?" Song Xiaodong casually asked.
"Song Bin! I saw Song Bin," Lin Shu said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Who is Song Bin?" Song Xiaodong had never heard of the name before.
Lin Shu, with wide eyes, exclaimed, "Oh my God, you don’t even know who Song Bin is? He’s a big star!"
Song Xiaodong shrugged and replied, "How would I know who he is? I’ve never seen him."
Lin Shu pursed her lips and said, "Oh my God, that’s why it’s totally right for me to call you ’Grandpa.’ You’re so outdated — not knowing who Song Bin is, I despise you."
"Is he that famous?" Song Xiaodong asked nonchalantly as he took a bite of his food.
Lin Shu answered, "Of course he’s famous. He’s the number one host on our provincial satellite TV."
"Oh," Song Xiaodong nodded indifferently.
Seeing how unimpressed Song Xiaodong was, Lin Shu couldn’t hide her annoyance as she said, "Hey, don’t act all high and mighty. Do you have any idea how famous Song Bin is? Not just in our province, he’s also hugely popular nationwide. He’s handsome, a great host, and I’m totally smitten with him. It’s just too bad that the people around him wouldn’t let me get close, or I’d have asked for his autograph."
Song Xiaodong chuckled softly and remarked, "Is it really that serious? He’s just a host, right?"
"Just a host? If you dare to say that out loud, do you have any idea how you’d be torn apart by Song Bin’s fans?"
Song Xiaodong quickly leaned back, saying, "Looks like I’m about to be torn apart by you right now."
Lin Shu huffed, "Don’t you deserve it? With such a celebrity, it’s bad enough you don’t recognize him, but to speak about him in such a tone... Humph, even though you both share the surname Song, you could never catch up to him in a lifetime. You’re not even fit to carry his shoes."
Zhong Chuling hurriedly tugged at Lin Shu, saying, "Xiao Shu, how can you speak like that to... Grandpa Song."
"What’s wrong with what I said? Song Bin is handsome and talented. At most, this guy is a doctor, what’s so great about that, huh?" Lin Shu puffed out her chest with an air of superiority.
Song Xiaodong shook his head and said, "Alright, I won’t talk about your idol anymore. You fans are really something."
He had almost blurted out ’idiotic fans,’ but seeing Lin Shu’s murderous look, he changed what he was going to say. These unreasonable fans are ruthless when provoked.
Half an hour later, as the three of them were ready to leave after their meal, Song Xiaodong’s phone suddenly rang. To his surprise, it was from Cheng Xiaoyue.
Song Xiaodong answered the call casually, and before he could say anything, Cheng Xiaoyue’s voice came through, "Mr. Song, come save me, I’m on the second floor of the Fuzun Hotel, in the Tsinghua Room."
Song Xiaodong frowned and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"There’s someone... Ah!" A piercing scream came from the phone, followed by the sound of loud static, likely the sound of a phone being thrown into water.
Song Xiaodong’s frown deepened. Fuzun Hotel — wasn’t that where they were dining? Even though he wasn’t very close to Cheng Xiaoshui, having promised to help him, Song Xiaodong felt it was his duty to respond to Cheng Xiaoyue’s cry for help.
