Return to the City: The Strongest King -
Chapter 527 - 528
Chapter 527: 528
"Sister, it seems like there’s a lump here." Song Xiaodong suddenly said with a frown.
"A lump?" Song Xiaoru, guided by Song Xiaodong’s indication, also felt it and said, "It does seem like there is. Is it serious?"
Song Xiaodong said, "It’s not a big problem, but it’s better to take care of it sooner rather than later. Otherwise, it could easily develop into a lesion."
"It needs to be treated, then treat it for me now," Song Xiaoru wasn’t worried, having a skilled doctor like Song Xiaodong meant she had nothing to fear about getting sick.
Song Xiaodong thought for a moment and said, "The best way would be a combination of acupuncture and massage."
"Can’t it be cured just like that?" Song Xiaoru frowned slightly.
Song Xiaodong seriously said, "I’m afraid not. These kinds of lumps can’t just be forcefully broken down all at once. They need to be gradually resolved, which is the safest way for your body."
"But it’s okay here. If I go home and you give me acupuncture and massages, that would be really awkward." Song Xiaoru shook her head repeatedly, feeling embarrassed about the idea of Miao Qingqing and Xiao Yingying knowing that Song Xiaodong was massaging her chest, and how awkward it would be when they meet each other.
Song Xiaodong said, "This is just treatment, don’t think too much about it."
"I just want to know if I don’t get treated now, will there be a problem for the time being?" Song Xiaoru asked again.
"Well... there shouldn’t be any problem, but having it in your body isn’t good either."
Song Xiaoru interrupted Song Xiaodong and said, "Then that’s settled, we can talk about it later. After all, with you as my doctor, if a real problem arises, you can just deal with it then."
Song Xiaodong still wanted to persuade her, but Song Xiaoru already pressed her hand against his mouth and said, "Xiaodong, the two of us being like this privately, I can accept it now, and I quite like this feeling, but in the eyes of others, this would mostly be misconstrued, and that really wouldn’t be good. So let’s delay this matter, I really can’t accept it yet."
"Alright, we’ll discuss it later then." Seeing how adamant Song Xiaoru was, Song Xiaodong could only agree for the time being, while his mind was still pondering a way to make Song Xiaoru comfortable without causing awkwardness for everyone.
"Alright, let’s sleep, you can give me a massage now," Song Xiaoru said with a smile, then closed her eyes.
Song Xiaodong had to start massaging Song Xiaoru. The chest is a part of a woman’s body highly prone to developing lesions. Even if there was nothing wrong temporarily, Song Xiaodong still felt somewhat uneasy. For anyone else, a checkup once a year would suffice, but perhaps this is what they mean by love clouding judgement.
After a nap, Song Xiaodong and Song Xiaoru got out of bed. As their relationship had grown closer, they no longer avoided each other when changing clothes; they simply turned their backs.
While dressing, Song Xiaoru asked, "What are you doing today? My meeting will last all day, and there’s a reception in the evening. I probably won’t be back until very late."
Song Xiaodong said, "You carry on with your work, I’ll go take care of some things."
After having breakfast at the hotel, Song Xiaodong and Song Xiaoru went their separate ways. He went to browse some large Traditional Chinese Medicine companies here. Tiannan was a small city, and the supply of medicinal materials wouldn’t be abundant. In such a big city, there should be more opportunities to find good stuff."
Song Xiaodong had the Fang Family help him look for some ancient items, but nothing from decades ago had been purchased, and this time he came to see if he could acquire some that were even older than those he had bought before.
Upon reaching the third major Traditional Chinese Medicine company, Song Xiaodong directly stated his purpose.
The clerk immediately said, "We did acquire some good items recently, but you’ll have to discuss that with our boss."
Song Xiaodong said, "That’s not a problem."
The clerk led Song Xiaodong to a room in the back, where a man in his sixties with a goatee and wearing traditional Chinese attire exuded quite an imposing presence.
Song Xiaodong very politely said, "Hello, sir, I’m looking for some precious and ancient medicinal herbs."
"I am Mr. Lin, and my courtesy name is Yi Yuan." The elderly gentleman invited Song Xiaodong to sit down and said, "May I know what you intend to do with these herbs?"
Song Xiaodong said, "I don’t mean to hide it from Mr. Lin, I am a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, currently looking to formulate some prescriptions. I need Mountain Ginseng, Polygonum Multiflorum, and Lingzhi mushrooms, and the older the better."
Lin Yi Yuan scrutinized Song Xiaodong and said, "I’m sorry, but you should look elsewhere."
Song Xiaodong furrowed his brow and said, "Is Mr. Lin afraid I can’t afford them? Don’t worry about that; just name your price and I’ll pay without haggling."
Lin Yi Yuan shook his head and said, "This isn’t about money. These items are extremely rare treasures, and they are becoming scarcer. If used improperly, it would be a waste of such treasures. Young man, you are barely over twenty, definitely not more than thirty. Handing such treasures to you would really be a waste."
Song Xiaodong respectfully clasped his hands towards Lin Yi Yuan and said, "I admire Mr. Lin for not being swayed by profit in his business and for sticking to his principles, truly respectable. Since Mr. Lin specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and understands it well, please consider testing me to see if I am qualified to use these herbs."
"You have such confidence?" Lin Yi Yuan looked at Song Xiaodong with some surprise.
Song Xiaodong smiled slightly and said, "For the sake of these herbs, I must indeed make an effort. Please enlighten me, sir."
As they were talking, footsteps sounded outside, and a clerk came in to say, "Mr. Lin, Mr. Zheng has arrived."
"Let him in," Lin Yi Yuan nodded, then said to Song Xiaodong, "A patient is about to arrive. If you can rightfully diagnose his condition, then I might consider transferring the herbs to you."
Song Xiaodong smiled slightly and said, "I shall not shirk my duty."
Soon, a man in his forties came in, looking rather thin and pale, and somewhat shaky as he walked; he immediately said to Lin Yi Yuan, "Mr. Lin, I’ve come for a follow-up. I’ve improved a lot these past days. Indeed, Mr. Lin is a divine doctor."
Lin Yi Yuan nodded and said, "Young man, go ahead and examine him."
Though Mr. Zheng looked puzzled, since Lin Yi Yuan had suggested it, he did not object and obediently sat down.
Song Xiaodong took Mr. Zheng’s pulse, his brow quickly furrowing; after a while, he shook his head and said, "Mr. Lin, you might have prescribed the wrong medicine for this man."
"What?" Lin Yi Yuan immediately looked stern and stared coldly at Song Xiaodong.
