Chapter 494: Chapter 495: Do Something

"Brother Dongzi... I..." Shen Yue’s face turned bright red with embarrassment and awkwardness.

Song Xiaodong recovered quickly and immediately said, "Ha-ha, you look so happy, I never imagined that even Miss Shen’s kiss could be bought with money."

"Stop teasing," Shen Yue playfully punched Song Xiaodong on the shoulder and complained, "The money is for sponsorship, not for me."

Seeing Shen Yue’s embarrassed manner, Song Xiaodong couldn’t help but tease her, "So, it seems no matter how much money you’re given, you wouldn’t kiss me, right?"

Shen Yue hesitated and said, "You’re bad, I won’t kiss you."

Song Xiaodong laughed heartily and said, "Then I wonder if there are other areas where you need to ’lose money’, I’ll just ’lose’ more at those times and get Miss Shen to kiss me a few more times."

Shen Yue pouted in playful annoyance and said, "Well, if a kiss can exchange for a million, then it’s worth it. I really need to thank you on behalf of the children in the poor mountain areas."

"Is there anything else? Should I spend more?" Song Xiaodong winked.

"What else do you want to do?" Shen Yue’s face turned beet red, and she said, "Brother Dongzi, you really are too bad, I’m not talking to you anymore."

Song Xiaodong also felt that his joke might have gone too far and quickly said, "I was just playing with you. How dare I tease Miss Shen."

"Anyway, I remember what you said. When I’m short on money, I’ll come looking for you, and you better not deny it."

"Deny it? No way," Song Xiaodong hurriedly agreed repeatedly.

"That’s more like it." Shen Yue smiled smugly, then squinted her eyes and said, "Now I have a million, so I’ll spend three hundred thousand on building schools, another hundred thousand on buying desks and such, and I can build a small library too. Aside from studying, reading is essential for kids. Ah, I can now think about things I didn’t dare to consider before."

"Shen Yue, if you just use your father’s influence to raise some money, wouldn’t it be easy?"

Shen Yue quickly said, "I don’t want my parents to know, and moreover, I don’t want to be used by others who’d then pull my dad into this. I can’t hold my dad back."

Song Xiaodong immediately praised, "Shen Yue, I really have to admire your awareness. Just for that, anytime you’re short on money for these projects, just come to me, and I’ll solve it all for you."

Shen Yue said smilingly, "Deal, you big sponsor, I definitely won’t let you off the hook."

The two talked for a while, and Shen Yue began planning on how to use the money, even asking Song Xiaodong for advice, which made time fly by, until Shen Dongyang called them out for dinner.

Seeing Shen Yue’s face full of joy, Sun Dongxiang’s gaze swept back and forth between them. They had been alone in the room, and then the daughter came out so happy, could they have done something?

Though Sun Dongxiang wasn’t exceptionally liberal, she wasn’t too conservative either. If Song Xiaodong and Shen Yue had done something scandalous, she wouldn’t be unable to accept it. Nowadays, how many girls don’t sleep with their boyfriend, so she wouldn’t think of it as a bad thing. Moreover, if the two really did something, it could mean their relationship might be deeper, possibly increasing Shen Yue’s chances to be with Song Xiaodong longer.

During dinner, Shen Yue was proactive in serving Song Xiaodong food and pouring wine, showing extreme diligence, which made Sun Dongxiang very happy, while Shen Dongyang was somewhat puzzled, not quite understanding the relationship between Song Xiaodong and Shen Yue, as it had become so good so suddenly.

After dinner, Shen Dongyang intended to play chess and chat with Song Xiaodong, but Sun Dongxiang immediately dragged him out for a walk, leaving only Song Xiaodong and Shen Yue behind.

"My mom really wants to get the two of us together," Shen Yue said with a light laugh.

Song Xiaodong said somewhat awkwardly, "Yes, that’s pretty obvious."

Shen Yue pouted and said, "Looking at your expression, it seems like this is a great loss for you."

Song Xiaodong laughed, "Of course not, I have a girlfriend. If I didn’t have a girlfriend, I would have listened to your mom without a second word and married you straight away."

Shen Yue’s face immediately showed happiness, but then she quickly said with a hint of blame, "You’re just fooling me; I don’t believe you."

"Haha, right, let’s discuss what you mentioned earlier. Then I really need to head back; there’s a patient waiting for me at home who needs care," Song Xiaodong changed the topic, as it was really not suitable to delve deeper into the previous one.

"A patient? Who is sick?" Shen Yue immediately asked with concern.

"Xuanxuan, Qingqing’s sister; she broke her leg while taking a bath."

"Ah, that’s terrible. Should I go visit her?"

"No need, really. You’re not that close to her."

"Oh, true, then let’s quickly look over this matter and you can rush back,"

Shen Yue was indeed a very sensible girl. After discussing a bit more with Song Xiaodong, she let him leave. Even though she wanted to keep Song Xiaodong by her side, she would never resort to being clingy. She hoped that Song Xiaodong would genuinely fall in love with her and decide to be with her on his own.

It took Shen Dongyang and Sun Dongxiang over an hour to return. They both were very cautious as they entered the room, afraid that if Shen Yue and Song Xiaodong were doing something inside, their entrance could spoil it.

"Dad, Mom, you’re back. Why are you acting like thieves?" Shen Yue asked, puzzled as she looked at them.

"Where is Little Song?" Sun Dongxiang asked.

Shen Yue casually replied, "Brother Dongzi left already."

"He left? When did he leave?" Sun Dongxiang frowned.

"Just a little while after you left, he went. What’s the matter?" Shen Yue asked, looking bewildered at her mother.

"You child...I really don’t know what to say to you." Sun Dongxiang looked disappointed and frustrated.

"What did I do?" Shen Yue’s heart skipped a beat; could her mother have found out about something?

"Come into the room, I need to talk to you," Sun Dongxiang pulled Shen Yue into the room.

Shen Dongyang shook his head, knowing his wife was about to give their daughter a lesson in politics on how to deal with Song Xiaodong.

This kind of utilitarian love, Shen Dongyang disapproved of. However, he had to admit that he indeed very much hoped that Song Xiaodong would end up with Shen Yue. A son-in-law like that was hard to find even with a lantern; any parent with a daughter couldn’t help but be moved.

However, Shen Dongyang also knew that this situation was likely just a passing phase of enthusiasm. Even if Shen Yue had this intention, it was unlikely that Song Xiaodong would easily change his affections and be with Shen Yue. Song Xiaodong was not a simple character who could be easily manipulated.
