Chapter 360: Chapter 361: Rescuing from Fire

"Yingying! What’s wrong with you?" Song Xiaodong instantly cried out in alarm when he heard Xiao Yingying’s voice, which obviously indicated she was in serious trouble.

"Fire... There’s a fire!" Xiao Yingying completed her sentence only to let out a scream right after, followed by dead silence on the phone.

Pale with shock, Song Xiaodong knew all too well the merciless nature of fire and water. He could no longer heed any caution and bolted out like a shot, nearly knocking Miao Xuanxuan over with his abrupt departure.

"Ah, Dongzi, what the hell are you doing?" Miao Xuanxuan cried out but before her words had even finished, Song Xiaodong had already vanished.

"What’s gotten into this guy?" Miao Xuanxuan pouted angrily, then pulled out her phone and muttered to herself, "He’s in such a rush, must be an emergency. I better find out what’s happening."

However, when she tried calling him, Song Xiaodong’s phone was already engaged.

Song Xiaodong had dialed 119 first. When it came to putting out fires, it was still best to leave it to the professionals. Relying solely on personal ability would be like trying to extinguish a car fire with a cup of water.

The operator on the line specifically told Song Xiaodong that the fire had been reported two minutes earlier. An extra two minutes was a small consolation to him; in the face of a raging inferno, even a second more could mean saving a life.

By this time, Song Xiaodong had already started the car. Today, he was driving Miao Qingqing’s Mercedes, which zoomed out like a roaring monster. It was so sudden that it frightened everyone around, causing them to scatter in all directions and curse behind him.

Song Xiaodong couldn’t bother with that now; luckily, it wasn’t rush hour, so the roads were relatively clear. He quickly revved up to over a hundred, weaving through the traffic like a slippery eel.

Normally, it would take about twenty minutes to drive from his location to Xiao Yingying’s place, but this time, Song Xiaodong made the trip in just ten minutes and arrived at Xiao Yingying’s villa.

When Song Xiaodong got there, the fire truck had only just arrived, and the firefighters were still connecting the hoses, the water not yet spraying.

The villa was now completely engulfed in flames, with fire roaring and thick smoke billowing into the air.

With a grave expression, Song Xiaodong charged toward the villa.

"Stop! What do you think you’re doing?" Two firefighters spotted him and immediately shouted to intercept him.

"Out of my way! I’m going in to save people!" Song Xiaodong said authoritatively without breaking his stride.

"You can’t go, it’s too dangerous. It’s better to leave it to us, the professionals."

"Out of the way!" Song Xiaodong was in no mood for chit-chat. He couldn’t afford to waste even a second, swiftly slipping past the two firefighters, and grabbed a large flowerpot from the villa’s entrance as he went.

"You’re crazy!" The two firefighters were shocked and screamed, both trying to rush forward to stop Song Xiaodong.

But Song Xiaodong had already violently thrown the large flowerpot he was holding through a window, shattering the glass, and then he lunged through the window himself in quick succession.

Song Xiaodong entered and didn’t shout, but instead held his breath tightly.

In fact, many people who perish in fires don’t die from the flames but from the toxic smoke. With thick smoke rising, if he were to breathe, it wouldn’t take many breaths for him to be poisoned and then lose his ability to act.

There weren’t too many flames in the living room, but the temperature was already quite high. Song Xiaodong quickly sprinted around the room and soon found a person, but it wasn’t Xiao Yingying—it was the nanny, who was already unconscious.

Song Xiaodong grabbed her and rushed to the window, immediately throwing the person out. At that moment, he couldn’t care less about whether she was injured from the fall.

The firefighters outside were preparing to put out the fire when someone flew out, startling them. They hurriedly rushed over to check and rescue.

By then, Song Xiaodong had finished checking the living room and quickly dashed to the second floor.

The fire was more intense on the second floor, and the corridor was filled with rolling heat waves that forced Song Xiaodong back down.

Just then, the firefighters’ water started to spray in. Song Xiaodong immediately faced the water jet, got drenched, and charged to the second floor once more.

Guided by his memory, Song Xiaodong quickly reached Xiao Yingying’s bedroom door, but flames were already shooting out. Despite his high skill, it was impossible for him to break in amidst such a raging fire.

Moreover, with such an intense blaze, there was absolutely no chance that Xiao Yingying could survive in that room.

Song Xiaodong felt his heart wrenching in pain. He never had deep feelings for Xiao Yingying, considering her primarily as his patient, and at most, like a little sister.

But at this moment, he realized just how important she was to him. At least in this situation, he was truly distressed and saddened. This girl, in the prime of her youth, who had always been plagued by illness and had just begun to harbor hopes of recovery, was now perishing in this merciless fire.

As a scorching heat hit his back, flames rose behind Song Xiaodong, making it impossible for him to retreat downstairs. He too was in a crisis.

However, Song Xiaodong didn’t panic and immediately rushed towards the bathroom at the end of the corridor. There was water there, and it could at least ensure he wouldn’t get burnt in the short term, while the firefighters outside continued their rescue efforts, which should be enough to save his life.

The bathroom door was unexpectedly tight, but with a lot of effort, Song Xiaodong managed to push it open. Upon entering, he was overjoyed to see all the water pipes spraying water, especially with the bathtub filled to the brim, and Xiao Yingying was soaking in it.

"Yingying!" Song Xiaodong hurriedly went over and picked up Xiao Yingying, shouting anxiously.

But Xiao Yingying didn’t respond at all. Song Xiaodong was shocked and quickly checked her, only to discover that she had had a heart attack.

Song Xiaodong always carried silver needles with him. He quickly inserted a few silver needles, which couldn’t cure her but could save her life for the moment.

After a while, Xiao Yingying opened her eyes, saw Song Xiaodong, and revealed a weak yet sweet smile, saying, "I knew Brother Dongzi would come to save me. You’re my Guardian God. No matter how dangerous the situation, you always appear before me."

A surge of tenderness flooded Song Xiaodong’s heart. He gently kissed her forehead and said softly, "You’re right. Brother Dongzi will protect you for a lifetime."
