Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Looking Down on Others
"Stop the car!" Ding Hailong hurriedly instructed the driver to stop.
Song Xiaodong immediately opened the car door and rushed out, followed promptly by Miao Xuanxuan.
Miao Qingqing gave a wry smile. "Young Master Ding, please don’t take it too seriously. Doctor Song is just that kind of doctor. We also didn’t explain your grandfather’s status to him earlier." She didn’t know what else to say to justify Song Xiaodong’s actions.
Ding Hailong frowned, feeling upset as well. His grandfather was not just anyone; he was the most respectable and influential figure in the city, even the mayor and the secretary of the municipal committee would visit him during holidays and festivals.
The life of a sanitation worker could hardly compare to that of his grandfather.
Miao Qingqing hurriedly said, "I’ll go and have a look too. Maybe I can be of some help and make things faster."
By the time Song Xiaodong had reached the sanitation worker, another sanitation worker was standing helplessly beside the fallen one, along with several passersby who, instead of helping, were avoiding them as though they feared being implicated.
After a quick check, Song Xiaodong had determined that the man had suffered a sudden cerebral hemorrhage—a very dangerous condition. If not treated promptly, it could easily be fatal; even with timely hospital care, severe lingering effects were likely.
"Xuanxuan, call 120 right now. This is a cerebral hemorrhage. Let the ambulance come quickly; they’ll need to handle it afterward." He then immediately began to apply needles without another word.
Miao Xuanxuan acknowledged and hastily made the call. By the time she finished, Miao Qingqing and Ding Hailong had also rushed over.
"What’s the situation?" Miao Qingqing asked softly.
"The patient had a sudden cerebral hemorrhage. Dongzi is treating him."
"Cerebral hemorrhage?" Ding Hailong’s eyes immediately lit up.
"What’s wrong?" Miao Qingqing looked at Ding Hailong, puzzled.
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing." Ding Hailong shook his head, his eyes fixed unwaveringly on Song Xiaodong’s hands and the sanitation worker lying on the ground.
Miao Qingqing had introduced him to someone highly skilled in medicine, but upon meeting him, he found a young man in his twenties, which made him seriously doubt Song Xiaodong’s medical abilities. His grandfather was no ordinary person, and not just any doctor was qualified to treat him.
If it weren’t for his great trust in Miao Qingqing, he would have immediately refused to let Song Xiaodong treat his grandfather. Now, he saw a chance to see if Song Xiaodong really had the ability.
Song Xiaodong moved his fingers rapidly, inserting several silver needles quickly into the patient’s head. Then he twirled the ends of the needles swiftly, most notably the largest needle in the middle, from which a jet of blood suddenly sprayed out.
Miao Xuanxuan and Miao Qingqing both cried out in shock, as girls instinctively fear the sight of blood.
The blood jet lasted for about two minutes, during which the sanitation worker had already opened his eyes.
Song Xiaodong immediately reassured him, "Don’t be scared, I’m treating you now. In a little while, you’ll go to the hospital and should be fine."
When Song Xiaodong was withdrawing the needles, the ambulance arrived just in time. The emergency doctor, seeing the patient with eyes open and alert, couldn’t help but express his confusion, "Wasn’t this supposed to be a cerebral hemorrhage? This doesn’t seem like it?"
Another sanitation worker immediately said, "Just now, someone inserted needles in him and then quite a lot of blood came out."
"Which doctor is this, to have such skills?" The emergency doctor was immensely surprised and quickly had the patient moved into the ambulance, ready to thoroughly study the patient’s condition once back.
In the van, Ding Hailong said excitedly, "Doctor Song, your medical skills are indeed superb."
Miao Xuanxuan immediately said excitedly, "Exactly, Dongzi’s medical skills are very impressive, or else why would my sister casually recommend him to you?"
"Yes, yes, later please Doctor Song, take extra care, the old master’s illness depends on you now."
Song Xiaodong said indifferently, "It depends on the situation."
The car sped along, and after more than half an hour, they arrived at a detached villa. Inside, it was mentioned that people nowadays prefer to build courtyard houses, with several sections; this place somewhat fit that description.
Entering through the main gate was a row of gatehouses, and further inside was a large courtyard with a pleasing scenery, including a workers’ pond and a rockery, somewhat reminiscent of Suzhou Gardens.
The main building was a three-story villa. Ding Hailong led Song Xiaodong and the others directly inside. There were only three people in the living room, two men and a woman, all quite young.
"Third brother, who are they?" A man came forward; he was Ding Hailong’s cousin, Ding Haixing.
Ding Hailong said, "These are the doctors I’ve brought."
Ding Haixing pursed his lips and said, "Doctors? Third brother, are you mistaken? Grandfather is so ill, his life is at risk any moment, and you bring such a young person to treat him, are you out of your mind?"
Ding Hailong frowned and said, "Haixing, it’s not about age now. Doctor Song is indeed very skilled, and he practices Traditional Chinese Medicine, which might be our last resort since Western Medicine has no more options for grandfather."
Ding Haiqing glanced at Song Xiaodong once more, snorted, and said, "Traditional Chinese Medicine? I say, third brother, are you really trying to save grandfather or are you just going through the motions?"
"Traditional Chinese Medicine has its own profound effectiveness, and grandfather has always held it in high regard."
"Even if Traditional Chinese Medicine can be effective, let me ask you, how old is this person you found? He appears to be about my age, right? Traditional Chinese Medicine values cumulative experience; so young, how many years could he have studied? How much experience could he have? Even if you wanted to find a Traditional Chinese doctor for grandfather, it should be a renowned one. As for such a young person, you could pull any number of them from the Traditional Chinese Medicine College, and they dare to treat grandfather? It’s a big joke."
Ding Hailong was at a loss for words, and Ding Haixing immediately glared at Song Xiaodong and shouted, "Kid, I don’t know where you came from, but you’ve got guts to come to our Ding family and bluff, better scoot while you can, or don’t blame me for being rude."
Miao Qingqing and Miao Xuanxuan both looked upset. Miao Qingqing, knowing the Ding family’s background, did not dare to speak out of turn, but Miao Xuanxuan didn’t care about that, pulling Song Xiaodong’s arm, she said, "Dongzi, let’s go. This is truly looking down on us, they even disrespect your medical skills, let’s not bother treating them."
Song Xiaodong had already had enough, and with Miao Xuanxuan, he turned around to leave.
"Stop!" Ding Haixing shouted angrily from behind, "Little girl, what did you just say? Daring to accuse our Ding family of looking down on people, you really do have some nerve."
