Chapter 1143: Chapter 1144: Evaluation

Lu Yaobing walked out from the hotel and directly called Song Xiaodong’s cell phone.

“Master, where are you?”

Song Xiaodong replied directly, “I’m at a beef noodle shop in front of the hotel. Come over, I’ve already ordered everything for you.”

Lu Yaobing quickly found the beef noodle shop and saw Song Xiaodong inside. On the table were two bowls of beef noodles and a few side dishes.

“Sit down and eat.” Song Xiaodong handed the chopsticks to Lu Yaobing.

Lu Yaobing felt a sting in her nose and said, “Master, how did you know I’d come looking for you?”

Song Xiaodong smiled and said, “I figured you’d definitely have a falling out with your mother and then come running to vent to me.”

Lu Yaobing wiped her eyes and said, “She’s unreasonable.”

Song Xiaodong laughed and said, “That’s normal. Every mother does her best to protect her daughter. She’s afraid her daughter will suffer, afraid she’ll be deceived, so she tries to block everything she thinks might bring danger to her daughter.”

“You’re siding with her?” Lu Yaobing looked at Song Xiaodong in surprise.

“It’s not about taking sides, it’s about facts. Your mother loves you, that’s why she scolds you, that’s why she’s worried about you being with me. If I saw my daughter coming out of a hotel room with some guy in the future, I’d probably go up and beat them first.”

“Pfft… Master, how can you say that?” Lu Yaobing, teased by Song Xiaodong, broke into laughter.

Song Xiaodong chuckled and said, “I’m just stating facts. All right, let’s eat. I think your mom will still want to talk to me. Leave it to me to explain to her; it’ll be better than you two arguing.”

“Okay.” Lu Yaobing nodded.

After a few bites, Lu Yaobing looked up at Song Xiaodong and said, “Master, will you not let me be your student anymore?”

Song Xiaodong said quite seriously, “Of course, I’ll let you. Finding a student who can inherit my teachings wasn’t easy. How could I bear not teaching you?”

Lu Yaobing said earnestly, “Master, you’re the best. If you can’t talk sense into my mom, just ignore her. Just agree verbally, and I’ll still be your student, and you’ll still be my master. My mom’s so busy, she can’t possibly come to the school to watch me.”

Song Xiaodong burst into laughter and said, “I’m trying to teach you, why does it feel like we’re having a secret love affair?”

Lu Yaobing pouted and said, “Anyway, I’m determined to be your student and learn from you. If my mom disagrees, I’ll do it secretly. I won’t give up.”

Song Xiaodong shook his head and said, “Hurry up and eat. We have to go back to class later.”

“Mhmm.”

After they finished eating, they walked to school together. Lu Yaobing briefly introduced about her mother, named Zheng Shuo’e, a manager at a company, extremely busy. This time, she unexpectedly came to school, probably because she happened to see Lu Yaobing heading to the hotel and followed quietly.

When Song Xiaodong and Lu Yaobing got to the school gate, they saw Zheng Shuo’e standing there.

Lu Yaobing pouted and ignored her mother, while Song Xiaodong smiled and said, “Go to class first; I’ll have a word with your mom.”

Lu Yaobing went over to her mother, made a funny face, and then dashed into the school.

Frowning, Zheng Shuo’e watched as Song Xiaodong lightly laughed and said, “Yao Bing is not this naughty in school.”

Zheng Shuo’e turned to Song Xiaodong and said, “Let’s find a place to have a good talk.”

Song Xiaodong said, “Not now. I have to go to class later. I only teach one class a week, and I can’t delay it. How about after class, I take the students to a free clinic, you can watch and we can talk there.”

Zheng Shuo’e looked at Song Xiaodong. This teacher, even when facing her, was composed, neither humble nor arrogant, exuding a calming demeanor. But such a demeanor could also inspire concern; if an adult like her could be influenced by him, then someone like Lu Yaobing would surely be even more affected.

“Okay! I’ll wait for you.” Zheng Shuo’e nodded.

Zheng Shuo’e went directly to the free clinic location, watching as people set up examining tables within the school.

With so many majors at the Medical University, there were many exam tables here. Zheng Shuo’e asked a student, “Classmate, where is the acupuncture class’s exam table?”

That student sneered a little and said sarcastically, “Wherever there are the most people, that’s it.”

Looking around, Zheng Shuo’e soon noticed some exam tables with queues in front of them. One of them had over ten people waiting.

Zheng Shuo’e walked over and saw the sign for the Traditional Chinese Medicine College’s acupuncture class, curiously asking an aunt at the front, “Auntie, what are you all doing here?”

“Waiting to see a doctor.” The aunt glanced at Zheng Shuo’e and said, “Young lady, if you want to see someone, line up quickly, or when more people come, you might not get a turn.”

“Shouldn’t people go to the hospital to see a doctor? Aren’t these all students?” Zheng Shuo’e asked in surprise.

“You don’t seem to know about this place. Let me tell you, the acupuncture class here is very good, especially their teacher. His acupuncture skills are really high, but he usually doesn’t see patients himself; it’s his students who do it while he supervises.”

Even more puzzled, Zheng Shuo’e asked, “The students see the patients? Can they do it? They seem to be only in their second year?”

“Don’t be fooled by their short learning period; they have an excellent teacher. And there’s a girl who’s very talented. Last time, someone had a sudden heart attack here, and she saved them with just a few needles.”

“Indeed, my chronic leg pain prevented me from walking, but after two sessions here, treated by that girl, I can walk now.”

“Yes, that girl is really good. I had arthritis, and just one needle treatment from her brought relief.”

The crowd started chatting all at once, all praising the acupuncture class, especially that talented girl.

The aunt in front looked at Zheng Shuo’e and said, “Hey, you look a bit like that girl. You wouldn’t happen to be her mother, would you?”

Zheng Shuo’e was taken aback but then felt a surge of pride and humbly said, “My daughter is in the acupuncture class, but she’s not the one you’re talking about, or so I think.”
