Return to the City: The Strongest King
Chapter 1106 - 1107: Returning One’s Own Way

Chapter 1106: Chapter 1107: Returning One’s Own Way

This move was rather underhanded, especially disgraceful for a grandmaster level fighter like Miyagi Akihito.

The surrounding crowd immediately erupted in an uproar.

“How shameless!”

“Is this what a Kikkawa Kendo master is like?”

“Winning like this is not honorable at all.”

While martial artists from other countries reacted this way, some Japanese masters wore sullen expressions; they highly valued the Bushidō spirit, and this fighting style completely violated that spirit, bringing them equal disgrace.

Dragon Nine and Su Zhentian roared in anger, ready to rush in and help.

But Miyagi Akihito wasn’t paying attention to others’ opinions; his goal was to kill Song Xiaodong to avenge his son.

With a successful sneak attack, his deflected vigor had dispersed. He swung his arms, and his longsword was already sweeping towards Song Xiaodong. At that moment, not even if Su Zhentian and the others grew wings, would they have reached Song Xiaodong in time to rescue him.

This made Su Zhentian, Dragon Six, and Dragon Nine’s eyes glint with fury. If anything happened to Song Xiaodong, they would definitely band together to tear Miyagi Akihito to pieces.

“Clang clang clang!” A series of metallic clashes sounded; although Miyagi Akihito’s assault was fierce, Song Xiaodong, even with his eyes closed, blocked every attack with his sword as if it had eyes.

“Such petty tricks, can they harm me? Even with my eyes shut, how could you, Miyagi Akihito, hurt me?” Song Xiaodong shouted, his swordsmanship not just defensive but also sharp, capable of matching Miyagi Akihito blow for blow.

Su Zhentian, Dragon Six, and Dragon Nine rushed forward, but Song Xiaodong, as if he had opened his eyes, said, “Stand down and watch how I slay this treacherous old fool.”

Seeing Song Xiaodong so confident, and his moves coordinated, they felt somewhat reassured, but still stayed nearby. If Song Xiaodong found himself in trouble, they would abandon formalities and prioritize his safety.

Everyone was astounded, knowing that one’s eyes being blinded meant clear vulnerability. Even with acute hearing, reactions wouldn’t match eye-gazing in such a fight; the fact that Song Xiaodong could guard so seamlessly was already extraordinary, but even more so was his ability to counterattack. What did he rely on to make these judgments?

Miyagi Akihito was equally shocked; he thought he could cut Song Xiaodong down instantly, but to no avail. How could Xiaodong know where his sword movement was coming from with closed eyes?

Song Xiaodong hadn’t used his Perception Ability yet, only his recently enhanced skills to fight Miyagi. Such a rare opportunity to face an outstanding opponent could not be missed.

But once his eyes were blinded, he had no choice but to resort to using his Perception Ability.

If vision is three-dimensional, then Perception Ability is arguably four-dimensional. Song Xiaodong not only grasped Miyagi Akihito’s frontal situation but sensed his rear, the movement of his muscles, and even his wrists’ subtle motions with pinpoint accuracy.

Now this Perception Ability, during a fight, turned out to be more useful than sight itself, meaning Song Xiaodong was stronger with his eyes closed than open.

“Clang clang clang!” Another round of metallic clashes sounded, as Song Xiaodong’s attacks became fiercer, increasingly dominating over defense.

Miyagi Akihito was even more horrified, for blinding Song Xiaodong’s eyes seemed to have opened Pandora’s box, releasing a devil.

Furthermore, his opponent clearly aimed directly at his sword techniques, often intercepting Miyagi’s moves midway, forcing him to change his strategy.

Had it not been for his exceptionally quick reactions, he would have been severely wounded by Song Xiaodong long ago.

Miyagi Akihito felt more and more stifled, like having the strength yet unable to exert it, a sensation growing ever stronger as his foe’s assault became relentless, leaving him only capable of defending with no counterattacking left.

“How dare you!” Yoshimoto Ryota spotted the situation peripherally, getting a shock, he forced Sun Yiyi back with a swipe, and swiftly made his way towards Song Xiaodong.

“You wish,” Sun Yiyi chuckled sweetly, lowering her body and leaping towards Yoshimoto Ryota.

Furious, Yoshimoto Ryota’s swordsmanship turned deadly sharp, utilizing all his hidden skills. Even if he couldn’t kill Sun Yiyi, he aimed to force her back to aid Miyagi Akihito.

“Ouch!” A surprised exclamation as Sun Yiyi’s dagger was knocked away, and she tumbled to the ground.

Yoshimoto Ryota immediately dashed towards Sun Yiyi, his longsword poised to strike.

“Whoosh!” Suddenly, Sun Yiyi raised her hand, throwing a handful of sand into the air.

Yoshimoto Ryota flailed his sleeves wildly, instinctively closing his eyes to prevent getting sand in them.

At that moment, he felt a chill in his abdomen, realizing he’d been tricked, swiftly sweeping his sword forward.

The swing hit nothing but air; Sun Yiyi, having achieved her aim, had already rolled away, scooping her previously dropped dagger back into her hand as she did so.

It was all planned: pretending to fall, seizing the chance to fling sand, and striking while Yoshimoto Ryota was distracted, delivering a stab to his abdomen.

“Damn!” Though Yoshimoto Ryota took a hit, the stab wasn’t fatal. He cursed and continued combat-ready, his twin longswords whirling viciously at Sun Yiyi.

His eyes had avoided being sanded earlier, but with the fear of it, he’d focused more on protecting them, and in a master’s duel, even the slightest mistake could be lethal.

The same sand-to-eye trick which brought Miyagi Yoshita severe scolding was not received so when used by Sun Yiyi.

Perhaps because women are more readily perceived as the weaker, or because Miyagi Akihito employed it first against them which was only getting his own medicine, and Yoshimoto Ryota merely suffered the consequences meant for Miyagi Akihito.
