Looking at the puppy again as it stuck out its tongue to lick Elly’s face while emitting several satisfied whimpers, his jealousy was burning furiously.

At that moment, a ruthless thought suddenly arose in Adam Jones’s mind—he wanted to throw the puppy out of the car.

As the car was about to arrive at the airport, Elly’s phone rang; it was Jenna Clark calling.

"Mom."

"What’s wrong with William?"

Elly’s expression changed abruptly, and hearing her say this, Adam’s face also turned, and he looked toward Elly.

"Okay, I’m almost at the airport, I’ll rush back soon. Mom, please take care of William for now."

Adam asked with furrowed brows, concern lacing his tone.

"My mom said he got into a fight with another child at the kindergarten, and he hasn’t spoken since he came back—from last night until now, he hasn’t said a word."

Elly knew something must have happened. Although William was only three years old, he was a sensible and intelligent child who wouldn’t fight with other kids without reason.

The thought of such a small child not speaking since last night made Elly increasingly anxious.

Adam’s brow furrowed as well, "Did mom say why he fought with the other child?"

Elly shook her head, "Mom doesn’t know, the teacher is also unclear, they just said that when they found them, the child had already been badly hurt by William, who also refused to speak."

Adam sensed Elly’s unease in her voice and patted her shoulder, saying, "Don’t worry, let’s ask William once we get back."

The car stopped in the airport’s underground parking lot, Elly glanced at the time; there was more than an hour until the plane took off, but she couldn’t wait any longer.

However, the earliest flight available was the one she was about to catch, and even though she was in a hurry to get back, all she could do was wait patiently now.

Sitting in the airport VIP lounge, Elly seemed restless. Even with the puppy jumping around on her, trying to comfort her, her mood didn’t ease at all.

Adam sat beside Elly, looking at her deeply furrowed brows with a heavy heart.

He knew that her son was Elly’s greatest weakness; if something truly happened to the boy, he couldn’t bear to imagine her reaction.

Tentatively he reached out, wrapped his arms around her shoulders, and seeing that she didn’t push him away, Adam felt slightly relieved. Looking at Elly’s anxious expression, he spoke softly,

"Don’t think too much now. Our son is so well-behaved and smart, it’s just a fight with a classmate. Who hasn’t fought in their childhood, right? It’s okay, once he sees his beloved mommy coming back, he’ll naturally start talking."

Adam was comforting Elly, but he himself was not sure what to believe. Although the time he had spent with his son was not long, he knew the boy wouldn’t just fight with a classmate for no good reason.

There must be some other reason.

But he couldn’t say this to Elly, afraid that it would make her worry even more about the child.

Elly didn’t respond to him, just periodically lifting her hand to check her watch, clearly wishing she could fly back immediately.

Seeing that she was not talking, Adam didn’t force her to speak. He glanced at his phone and said, "You sit for a bit, I need to step out."

After that, he got up and left the VIP lounge.
