Chapter 590: Chapter 587: Taking the Initiative to Knock on His Car Window
The car’s insulation was excellent, naturally preventing any sound of Ming Yao chasing and shouting from the back from being heard.
However, the driver did catch a glimpse of Ming Yao; he looked through the rearview mirror at the man in the backseat reviewing documents and hesitated about whether or not to alert him.
But the man’s aura was indeed too cold and powerful; the words that reached the driver’s lips were swallowed back down.
Ming Yao chased for a long stretch of road, only to watch helplessly as the car drove away.
Standing by the roadside, gazing at the bustling, glittering city, she felt as though she had fallen into an ice cellar.
Her entire body was engulfed in boundless cold.
Was the person in the car really him?
Over the past month, sometimes she’d spot someone on the street with a similar silhouette to his; she’d recklessly bolt from her car to chase after them, but each time she caught up, she was met with disappointment.
Because of this, she was frequently cursed at as a lunatic.
But she didn’t care, as long as he was still alive. She wouldn’t mind whatever people called her!
After a long while, Ming Yao slowly retracted her gaze.
As if struck by a thought, she took out her phone and dialed the number that was etched into her memory.
In previous attempts, the call always went through to a shut-off notice.
But this time, it connected.
Ming Yao’s heart suddenly began to race.
Getting through meant that he really had come back!
The phone rang for a long time without anyone answering, and then, it hung up automatically.
Ming Yao pressed her lips tightly together, resisting the urge to call a second time.
She calmed her emotions and went inside the convention center for a meeting.
After the meeting, she drove towards the Gu Residence.
Song Yulan sat on the sofa, looking at Gu Siting’s photo with a thick shroud of shadow lingering between her brows and eyes.
Ming Yao observed Song Yulan closely; she seemed to be unaware of the news that Gu Siting had already returned!
"Aunt Lhan, are you feeling any better today?"
Song Yulan lifted her head to look at Ming Yao, her eyes brimming with tears, "It’s been over a month, who knows if Siting can still come back?"
Indeed, Aunt Lhan was still in the dark about his return.
Ming Yao was certain; she hadn’t been mistaken in the afternoon, that man was definitely Gu Siting.
She then remembered, the license plate of that car belonged to the Presidential Residence.
It seemed she had to visit the Presidential Residence to learn the situation.
"Aunt Lhan, he will definitely come back, we have to believe in him."
Seeing the determination in Ming Yao’s eyes, Song Yulan was moved by her emotion and nodded, "Right, right, right, as his mother, I shouldn’t be speaking such disheartening words. He has great fortune, he will definitely come back!"
Ming Yao didn’t linger long at the Gu Residence; she drove toward the Presidential Residence.
The security at the Presidential Residence was strict, and ordinary people couldn’t get in without special permission.
Ming Yao knew she couldn’t get in, so she sat in her car without getting out and took out her phone to call Lu Zhou.
In less than ten minutes, Lu Zhou hurried out.
Ming Yao got out of the car, "Assistant Lu, this afternoon at the entrance of the convention center, I saw someone who looked a lot like Mr. President. I wanted to ask if I was mistaken, or has he really come back?"
Facing Ming Yao’s direct gaze, Lu Zhou’s eyes somewhat darted away, "Miss Ming, actually..."
"Assistant Lu, you’re not usually one to hem and haw. Just speak directly, I can handle it." As long as he is fine, everything else is trivial to her.
Lu Zhou sighed, "Mr. President was found in a small fishing village. He was said to have been saved by a fisherman. At the time he was rescued, he had sustained a head injury and had burns on a significant area of his body. He was in a coma for nearly half a month before he regained consciousness."
Ming Yao pondered for a moment, her long lashes trembling, "He had a head injury. Does that mean he has forgotten what happened before, that he has amnesia?"
Lu Zhou furrowed his brow, "He has indeed forgotten some things, but he remembers others. It’s selective memory loss!"
Thinking back to the afternoon, when she had chased after his car and it had persistently refused to stop, her heart instantly leaped to her throat, "Has he forgotten me?"
Lu Zhou looked at Ming Yao’s serious expression and sighed softly, "Whether his Excellency has forgotten you or not, I’m not sure. Since his return, he has become even colder and more reticent than before. The doctor said he might be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder!"
"Miss Ming, give his Excellency a little more time. Once he recovers, he may take the initiative to find you!"
Ming Yao nodded thoughtfully.
Actually, taking a step back, the fact that he is alive and well is the greatest grace she could ask for from heaven, isn’t it?
Lu Zhou had many other matters to attend to. Ming Yao didn’t detain him for long. After chatting for a bit, she let him go.
Once Lu Zhou left, Ming Yao returned to her car. She leaned over the steering wheel, feeling somewhat empty inside, confused and desolate.
For nearly three days Ming Yao waited, but she did not receive a call or message from Gu Siting.
She saw him on TV and confirmed he had really come back. But, he had not come to find her again.
Last night, Song Yulan called her, saying he had visited the Gu Residence.
He still remembered Song Yulan and Old Madam Gu. He had even played games with Little Orange. Everything seemed perfectly normal, except that he no longer contacted her.
Originally, Ming Yao told herself to stay calm. Perhaps he had just forgotten her. Given some time, he would remember.
Still, she couldn’t help feeling panicked inside.
She wanted to see him in person, wanted to have a proper talk with him.
She needed to understand his current situation.
Or perhaps, she thought to feel his pulse herself, to check on his physical condition.
With that thought, Ming Yao directly drove to the Presidential Residence.
Before coming, she had asked Assistant Lu. Gu Siting was about to leave the Presidential Residence to welcome a VIP at the airport.
Ming Yao got out of her car and waited for about seven or eight minutes, then she saw several Rolls-Royces driving out.
Just having left the Presidential Residence, the cars were not moving very fast. Ming Yao spread her arms and dashed across, stopping right in front of the middle car.
The drivers and bodyguards, most of whom recognized Ming Yao, slowed the car the moment she dashed over. The bodyguards did not immediately get out to subdue her. Had it been anyone else, they would have been pressed to the ground by now.
All the cars came to a stop.
The driver looked toward the man in the back seat and cautiously said, "Mr. President, Miss Ming is outside."
Ming Yao had already reached the back seat, knocking on the window non-stop.
The window was tinted with a dark film, making it impossible for Ming Yao to see inside, but the person inside could clearly see her.
After several seconds, the window slowly rolled down, revealing the man’s sharply contoured and handsome face within Ming Yao’s line of sight.
The man was dressed in a tailor-fitted black suit with his long legs elegantly crossed, emitting an aura of aloofness that kept people at a distance.
