Chapter 238: Chapter 48: Injury (4th update, added for Alliance Hierarch ’Su Xiaoqian~’)

Black Pupil died in her sister’s arms; for this girl who had been transformed by drugs and was no longer human, this was destiny, and also her rest.

Red Eye gently placed Black Pupil on the ground, placing the Eight Room Scabbard beside her.

"I once swore to kill you the second time we met, to avenge Brand."

Red Eye didn’t immediately charge forward desperately, but calmly watched Su Xiao.

"Is that so."

Su Xiao flicked the cigarette butt in his hand, and in the nearby forest, a shadow loomed, as if wanting to dart out to smell what Su Xiao flicked, wondering if it was edible, and if it tasted good.

Su Xiao glared at the forest, and the shadow quickly shrank back into the underbrush.

"You’re definitely not loyal to the Empire’s Anbu. What is your goal?"

Red Eye stared at Su Xiao, her tone confident.

"Who knows, but... in your current physical state, you’re no match for me."

Su Xiao didn’t belong to any side; he acted according to his own will.

A cold wind blew through the forest, rustling the leaves.

"Right, so I must abandon my humanity."

Red Eye slowly raised Chun Yu towards her palm.

Squish.

A splash of blood rose, as Red Eye used Chun Yu to cut her palm.

Chun Yu was a Blade of Certain Death, and once injured by it, the Curse would penetrate the body, causing the victim to die soon after.

But not Red Eye; she was the wielder of Chun Yu, having used it to slaughter many. Now, using this move was Red Eye’s trump card.

"Ah!!"

Red Eye kneeled on one knee, her head raised as she let out a low cry, a sound seemingly from the underworld, hollow and overlapping with many voices.

A billow of purple-black mist spread around Red Eye, the Curse eroding her body.

Clearly, Red Eye was unleashing her big move. Su Xiao had no habit of watching an enemy prepare a big move; now was a perfect opportunity. He charged forward decisively.

A few strides brought him before Red Eye, his long knife cleaving towards her head.

Clang.

Chun Yu blocked Dragon Slash’s strike, sparks bursting forth.

Red Eye’s appearance had dramatically changed; her once waist-long hair now reached her calves, her blood-red eyes even more vivid, and her eye sockets turned black.

Blood red patterns spread across Red Eye’s fair skin, climbing up to her right cheek.

Red Eye raised her blade, looking at Su Xiao.

"I’ve slain many, their anger, hatred, unwillingness, despair... Chun Yu recorded it all.

Now I bear them, turning them into power. Even if it burns me to ashes, I will take you down."

Red Eye was once a just assassin, but now she appeared ghostly and terrifying.

Su Xiao didn’t speak, his focus razor-sharp. Red Eye gave him a very dangerous vibe.

Whoosh~.

Her black hair fluttered in the wind, and as a gust hit, Su Xiao found Red Eye already in front of him, Chun Yu poised to thrust at his face, a mere ten centimeters away from causing harm.

Death closed in, a familiar sensation Su Xiao had felt many times.

With Dragon Slash in front, Su Xiao swiftly tilted his head.

Crackle~.

Dragon Slash and Chun Yu clashed, a shower of sparks flaring up.

So fast! Red Eye’s speed left him barely able to react; without his battle-hardened experience, he might have perished under this strike.

Red Eye’s power surged along with her speed.

Clang, clang.

Two direct clashes later, Su Xiao felt a numbness in his arm holding the knife.

Moreover, fighting Red Eye was far more perilous than battling others; an injury meant succumbing to the Curse, and Su Xiao wasn’t sure he could withstand it.

Su Xiao engaged Red Eye in a face-to-face blade technique clash, shifting tactics to primarily defensive.

Dragon Slash danced tightly in front of him; though Red Eye’s power and speed had surged, her blade technique hadn’t improved.

Su Xiao was like dancing on a razor’s edge, one slip and he’d meet his end in Huang Quan.

Red Eye’s slashes quickened, yet Su Xiao’s defense remained impenetrable.

High Intelligence + Heart’s Eye’s perception barely let him capture Chun Yu’s strike line, paired with exquisite sword technique, Red Eye couldn’t easily overcome him.

Su Xiao had plenty of stamina; the earlier fight with Carl, though dangerous, had been brief.

The crisp clinks of blade against blade echoed continuously.

Su Xiao raised his blade to block Red Eye’s direct onslaught, deflecting Chun Yu’s strike with a side swipe of his blade edge.

Swish.

Chun Yu cleaved into the ground, anxiety rising in Red Eye’s heart, knowing her state wouldn’t last long.

Su Xiao was also keenly aware Red Eye couldn’t hold on much longer; he deliberately stalled for time, knowing once her state dissipated, she’d be at his mercy.

Red Eye stamped down forcefully, carving a deep footprint into the ground, testament to her current might.

Su Xiao flipped his left hand, unveiling a blue-black object, throwing it towards Red Eye.

Remembering his earlier concussion cannon, Red Eye instinctively closed her eyes and covered her ears, halting her charge.

Su Xiao dashed up to Red Eye, aiming a kick at her abdomen.

Bang.

Red Eye flew far, rolling several times before rising.

The blue-black object didn’t explode upon landing; it bore the inscription ’Oreo Cream Cookies’.

Wisdom must guide combat, or else one is no different from a wild beast.

Red Eye circled away from the bag of ’Oreo Cream Cookies’ and charged Su Xiao, but another item appeared in his hand.

Running, Red Eye hesitated, considering the possibility of one true, one false.

Su Xiao threw the object, Red Eye stepping back twice.

Thump.

The item hit the ground, reading ’Clear Shampoo’.

Red Eye nearly coughed blood; she hadn’t seen these items before, but she knew none were dangerous.

For the third time, Red Eye charged Su Xiao, yet again he produced an object!

This time, Red Eye gritted her teeth to continue her charge, but Su Xiao tossed the item directly in her path.

Red Eye faltered, the object landing, reading ’Snickers’.

Tricked three times in succession, Red Eye felt an unprecedented insult to her intelligence, this time she barreled headlong toward Su Xiao.

Su Xiao conjured another item, tossing it at Red Eye, who merely covered her ears and advanced.

Boom!

A brilliant flash erupted before her eyes, Red Eye’s eyes stinging, ears buzzing — this one was a genuine concussion cannon.

Su Xiao charged up to Red Eye, his long knife slicing downwards.

Squish.

Dragon Slash plunged deeply into Red Eye’s shoulder, with Su Xiao’s free left hand pressing on the blade’s back.

Squish.

A secondary wound appeared, severing Red Eye’s collarbone.

"Before I die, I’ll drag you down with me."

Red Eye disregarded the Dragon Slash in her body, forcibly cutting towards Su Xiao despite the blade’s sheer edge.

Su Xiao had no intention of perishing together, promptly withdrawing his blade and retreating.

Strangely, Red Eye didn’t pursue, simply standing there, seemingly heavily wounded.

Suddenly, Su Xiao’s hair stood on end, an extreme danger surged through him, though Red Eye was in plain view. What could cause this sense of peril?

Su Xiao didn’t dwell on it, trusting his instinct, leaping to the side.

A graceful silhouette descended from the sky, long knife slicing down toward Su Xiao.

Su Xiao raised his blade.

Clang.

Dragon Slash received a tremendous force, numbing Su Xiao’s hand, tilting Dragon Slash slightly, Chun Yu slipping to the side.

The figure standing previously was not Red Eye’s true form, but an illusion formed by her killing intent, Red Eye’s ultimate ability.

Chun Yu slid alongside Dragon Slash’s blade edge, targeting Su Xiao’s left arm.

"Bury."

Red Eye uttered quietly.

Su Xiao promptly lifted his left arm.

Squish.

A slight wound appeared on the back of his left hand, barely breaking the skin.

Yet Su Xiao had indeed been slashed by Chun Yu, feeling the Curse seeping into his arm from the wound, already reaching his forearm.

"Just a lost arm."

Su Xiao looked at Red Eye; her enhanced state was rapidly dissipating.
