Chapter 126: Chapter 94: Knight (4th Update, dedicated to Alliance Hierarch ’Maple Wind Drift’)

Pressing closely against the rock wall, Su Xiao sidesteps gradually forward.

He glances sideways at the other four people, who are all intensely staring at the Lava Lake as if there’s something terrifying within it.

Although the current position is dangerous, as long as they are cautious it won’t be too perilous. That being said, perhaps these four are hiding something from him.

Su Xiao stops fixating on his feet and starts paying attention to the Lava Lake below.

Pa-la~.

A face-sized gas bubble appears in the Lava Lake, bursting open, with lava splattering high into the air.

Si Si~.

The splattering lava lands on the Priest’s calf, a wisp of black smoke rises, and the smell of roasted meat spreads.

The Priest clenches his teeth in pain but makes no sound.

Su Xiao frowns, perhaps there is something within the Lava Lake.

"Priest, are you okay?"

Kirishima Arata looks concernedly at the Priest, but speaks in a low voice.

The Priest’s face changes drastically, staring directly at Kirishima Arata.

"It’s no problem; that thing’s hearing is not very acute."

As soon as Kirishima Arata finishes speaking, rolling bubbles emerge from the Lava Lake.

Gulu-lu~.

The lava churns, as though a gigantic creature is floating up within the Lava Lake. All four group members except Su Xiao remain still, pressing against the rock wall.

Upon seeing this, Su Xiao’s eyes turn cold; these guys are hiding something from him. After pondering for a moment, he also leans against the rock wall without moving, even slowing his breathing.

Boom~.

The lava in the Lava Lake shoots skyward, splattering over a dozen meters high.

Specks of lava splash over the group of five. Su Xiao immediately closes his eyes and turns his face to the side.

Si Si~.

Several small pieces of lava splash onto him, the instant the lava touches the skin, it chars the flesh.

Su Xiao remains motionless, gritting his teeth as he leans against the rock wall because he sees that not far away, Kirishima Arata’s entire leg is covered by lava, yet he remains entirely still.

Although the entire leg is covered by lava, Kirishima Arata’s expression remains as usual.

As the lava slides off, Kirishima Arata’s leg is wrapped in a layer of pierced Heko, this guy uses Heko to cover his leg.

After the lava surges, a dark red object floats up from the center of the Lava Lake, spherical and four to five meters wide. Its color similar to the lava, but it is definitely not lava.

Su Xiao carefully observes; its color is slightly brighter than the lava.

The lava churns, and a few tentacles emerge from the lava surrounding the spherical object.

This thing resembles an octopus, but why would an octopus exist in lava? It’s unscientific.

The terrifying temperature of the lava, how is this thing surviving, or perhaps it is not a living organism.

Su Xiao doesn’t want to know what it is; he just knows that thing’s power is terrifying. The Priest, Takatsuki Sen, and others remain motionless, staring fearfully at the unknown object in the lava.

Su Xiao holds his breath; he is the farthest from the thing. If it attacks them, he would not be the first to fall prey.

The ’Octopus Monster’ swims in the Lava Lake, seemingly lacking vision, detecting their positions only through sound.

Apart from the sound of churning lava, a deathly silence surrounds them. After about ten minutes, without detecting anything, the ’Octopus Monster’ slowly sinks back into the Lava Lake.

"Phew~."

Everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Takatsuki Sen at the head of the group glares angrily at Kirishima Arata.

Kirishima Arata wears an apologetic expression, his extensive burns leaving Takatsuki Sen without words to say.

Takatsuki Sen continues to sidestep forward, as do the other three.

Only after noticing their movements does Su Xiao start moving cautiously forward, his steps light, his eyes fixated on the Lava Lake.

Was Kirishima Arata’s sound intentional or accidental, perhaps only he knows.

A dozen minutes later, the slow-walking group of five finally reaches the platform on the opposite shore.

Once on solid ground, Su Xiao walks briskly ahead, trying to distance himself from the Lava Lake. Not just him, everyone else does the same.

At about a hundred meters away, Su Xiao examines the burns on his body, all superficial wounds, not too severe.

"Kirishima Arata, aren’t you going to give us an explanation?"

Takatsuki Sen’s red eye pops up, even a hint of murderous intent in her gaze, clearly lingering anger from before.

Understandably so, the four of them almost died because of Kirishima Arata’s actions.

Su Xiao says nothing, standing at a distance from the group to avoid being caught in internal conflict and getting splattered with blood.

"Miss Takatsuki Sen, I deeply apologize for what happened earlier; I didn’t expect that creature to have such acute hearing."

Kirishima Arata’s face is remorseful, seemingly ready for any punishment.

"You... "

Takatsuki Sen begins to speak but is interrupted by Arima Kishou.

"Let it go."

Arima Kishou’s intention is clear, even if Kirishima Arata has ulterior motives, now is not the time for internal strife.

"Indeed, mishaps are unavoidable; we are a team now, let’s not hold grudges."

The Priest also steps in to mediate.

Observing from a distance, Su Xiao sneers internally; a team? These four have been here before, and before reaching the Lava Lake, none of them warned him not to make any noise about the terrifying unknown creature within the Lava Lake.

This so-called team has already disintegrated halfway upon reaching this point, outwardly united, yet inwardly divided.

This platform, several hundred meters in diameter, should be the final destination. Upon finding the ’Origin’, the team will completely dissolve.

From that point on, no one but himself can be trusted.

"Since we have arrived here, let’s talk about where the ’Origin’ is, and we’ll destroy it."

Takatsuki Sen speaks.

The Priest and the remaining three exchange glances, seemingly guessing each other’s thoughts.

"Before reaching the Lava Lake, I haven’t been here."

"Neither have I."

"Haven’t been here."

Each of the three states, claiming not to have been here.

"If that’s the case, let’s split up and search."

Takatsuki Sen says as he starts to walk away.

"I don’t agree."

Su Xiao speaks up, all four glance over at him.

"Splitting up indeed increases efficiency, but what if we encounter an enemy we cannot counter? Who can ensure there are no enemies on this platform?"

Su Xiao’s concern is genuine, although he’s worried that if the others find the ’Origin’ first and destroy it, failing the hidden task would mean an all-attributes penalty by 3, which would be disastrous for him.

"I agree with Mister Bai Ye’s opinion."

For some reason, Kirishima Arata actually supports Su Xiao.

"I agree too."

The Priest speaks up.

"Since that’s the case~, let’s search together."

The nominal leader Takatsuki Sen realizes that she cannot command anyone present, thus submitting to the majority.

The group proceeds towards the depths of the platform, and not long after, they discover that deep in the platform there seems to be an altar-like structure.

Upon getting closer, Su Xiao notices a stone pillar at the center of the circular altar. Beside it stands a full-body armor three meters high, astonishingly intact, fingers and all. If not for the empty eye holes, they would all think it’s a steel man.

The stone pillar is about half a meter thick and a meter high, carved with a fat-ended, thin-tailed strange fish. Atop the pillar rests a fist-sized crystal.

The crystal is entirely red, with visible cracks on its surface. A faint red mist wafts from the cracks, slowly rising, eventually disappearing into the stone layer above, possibly drifting to the surface.

[Hint: The Hunter is within twenty meters of the ’Origin’, please obtain the ’Origin’ as soon as possible.]

This red crystal is the ’Origin’!

Not only does Su Xiao realize the red crystal is the ’Origin’, but Arima Kishou and others also think so.

"It seems we found the ’Origin’."

The Priest stares intently at the Origin, his eyes full of unhidden greed.

Thud!

The platform suddenly vibrates, and the five immediately stay vigilant, yet after several seconds, nothing occurs.

Beside the pillar, the full-body armor that everyone had ignored gradually lights up its eye holes with a red glow, a color unique to active Rc Cells.

"Invaders, die!"

The armor~, speaks.
