Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master -
Chapter 91 - 91: [Bonus chapter] A Lifetime Debt
"How are you doing now?" As Gran took a few steps to the side, distancing him from William and waited for his cousin to come out, William took the chance to finally check on Berry.
"You… You do know that you gave me a heart attack just minutes ago?"
"Hahahaha!" William couldn't help but laugh, "get used to this from now on. I'm not someone who meets challenges without embracing them."
"What's wrong in here, huh?" Berry knocked over his head. At this moment, even if the two were of the same age, she was still taller and could poke him with a simple stretch of her arm.
"Ouch, go easy on me, I'm fragile and might break."
"Then knock knock, what's in there? A jelly? A chocolate?"
"Hahahah, it's ice cream," William laughed, and Berry couldn't help but shake her head and laugh as well.
From the side, Gran looked at the two while feeling how great it was to be young.
The relationship between these two seemed to grow much faster than he ever thought. He never saw Berry acting this friendly before towards anyone, even from the clan.
Berry used to distance herself from most if not all the clansmen around her age. She wasn't trying to be cold or arrogant, but she was burdened by her illness to the extent of making her prefer to be away rather than getting embarrassed or insulted by anyone.
To him, to everyone in the clan, they knew how fragile her heart was. And so seeing her act in such a way made him feel quite surprised and also a bit hopeful that her past miserable life would experience lots of changes.
"Tell me, have you trained as I instructed? How are the results?" William ended this session of joking as he turned towards what really mattered.
"I got to the bronze rank already," and when he asked, she raised her head in such a showy manner, giving even her uncle a fright.
"What? Is that for real? Is this true?" Gran couldn't control himself and jumped over, held Berry from her arms and kept asking in such a nervous and disbelieving way.
He knew she got cured, but never got to know about her breakthrough yet.
"Yes, I broke through and that's all thanks to him," Berry motioned in her head, as her two arms were held hostage to the brute force of her uncle.
"This… That…" Gran moved his eyes between her and William, not daring to believe what he just heard, "is this… Real?!Hurry, show me!"
"Well…" Berry felt hesitant, and William slowly nodded.
"Show him in the usual way," William said, and his few words didn't miss the keen senses of Gran.
Even though he was over excited at this moment, he still was a dark gold spirit master. And for those high grade spirit masters, their senses were the sharpest thing they got in life.
"What do you mean by that?"
"It's a secret," and just as a typical kid, William tucked out his tongue and teased the uncle.
Gran froze in his place for a brief second, blinked twice there before sighing.
"How come anyone can exchange a few words with you without losing his temper!! You need to work on such attitude later on, or else you'll fall in lots of troubles."
"Uncle, it's indeed a secret," Berry tried to step in and defend William, "and he… He did many great things for me. So please, let him keep his own secrets."
"..." Gran looked at Berry while realising that the bond between these two was much stronger than he imagined. He just said this out of his good will, and William did indeed get his true intentions, at least he saw through his words, not like how Berry did.
"Show me then, through the normal way all of the spirit world here knows of."
He said the last words while focusing his eyes over William. And the latter didn't let this remark pass by without commenting as usual.
"Like uncle said, with what's known here."
"You…"
"Here, see for yourself," Berry knew if she let William and her uncle talk further, this wasn't going to end. It was clear that William got a talent with words, one that could stir up anyone around and make them feel weird.
She ingested her bronze spiritual power into the orange crystal, making it shine slightly in front of Gran's eyes. And this managed to finally distract him from William.
"You… You…" and when he saw the bronzed coloured spirit power inside the crystal, he started to tremble, not believing his eyes."
"This is all thanks to William," Berry stressed over this point again, "and that's why grandpa asked for him to come. He wanted to see and reward the man who helped me."
"I see," Gran took in a deep breath, looked at William before adding in a sincere tone, "you did a great service to our family. Be it out of pure interest or because of friendship, we still owe you."
"No need to mention it, uncle," William smiled, feeling a bit warm from such honest words from Gran, "as I said before, I did this as she is one of my closest friends."
"Good kid," Gran nodded, thinking about different things now, about what was the best reward William should have, and how his uncle would deal with William from now on.
In his eyes, it wouldn't be weird for the old monster of the Long clan to offer to be a master for William.
Gran wasn't exaggerating. William only knew the tip of the iceberg about Berry's problem, didn't witness the extreme worry and doubt everyone close to Berry held. He never saw the long rows of physicians coming and leaving without doing anything. He didn't see how other clans started to speak in a bad way against them, using Berry as an example of what type of losers this clan was.
In brief, what William did was something that would be least called a lifetime debt.
