Chapter 406: Chapter 407: A Pungent Smell of Blood Hits the Nose

Silver’s embroidery skills were already good, but after she became blind, she practiced even more diligently.

Now, although she couldn’t see anything, the embroidery she produced was even better than before she lost her sight.

When sold, it could fetch a good price.

She saved all the money she earned from selling her embroidery, planning for a future life on her own.

If she hadn’t gone to the backyard that night, perhaps her life would have continued in this way.

But she did go, and so her life changed once again.

The autumn nights were cold, almost like winter.

Yet Silver liked autumn because the chrysanthemums would bloom, and she cherished those flowers that opened even in harsh conditions.

She also enjoyed the feeling of autumn’s desolation, this chilly, silent weather made her heart calm, not agitated by the inconvenience brought by blindness.

That night, she embroidered until very late and had not yet rested.

Her ears, exceptionally sensitive, seemed to hear a cat’s cry in the backyard, one after another, as if startled by something.

She got up, draped a coat over herself, and groped her way toward the backyard.

Since she wanted to learn to live independently, she had moved into a room near the backyard to live, and she usually didn’t allow the servants to disturb her here.

She lived her life completely independent in this small corner of the backyard.

Here, she learned to cook in the backyard kitchen on her own, to clean the backyard by herself, to do everything on her own.

Therefore, knowing something was amiss in the backyard, she could only go to check by herself and not call for the servants.

Under the dim night sky, she carefully made her way step by step to the backyard when suddenly she was hit by the smell of blood.

Before she could cry out, her mouth was covered tightly by a large hand.

"Shh, don’t make a sound, I’m not a bad person. Just hiding here for a bit," said the person covering her, whispering in her ear.

His breath was uneven, as if he was wounded.

"Just don’t shout, and I’ll let you go."

Hearing his words, Silver obediently nodded her head, her instinct telling her that this man was indeed not a bad person.

True to his word, the man let her go and then looked around to ask, "Where is this?"
