Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin -
Chapter 32
Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Such a big strong griffin eagle lion dashing at anyone would freeze them on the spot, but for me, as I’ve already regarded my life as spendable at this point, already accepted that I was as dead as one could be while still breathing, instead of running or cowering uselessly I do the only thing that would give me any satisfaction before he stomps all over me: I stare him down as he approaches, barely able to keep my body from giving up at that point from the crushed bones, open cuts that still oozed blood from my already weakened state, and I do not even try a futile attempt to run or dodge away in that state, I stare death in the eye as a weight is morbidly lifted from my heart the way only death could do so with nothingness in the horizon as I face my own end.
And there, facing the end of my short young life, I can only hope I have made mother proud, at least in the end. Just... Don’t cry too much, ok? Don’t give this shitty lion the satisfaction.
I had faith that mother would be able to escape and recover from my death once I’m gone, and as a strange calming sadness takes hold of my last seconds alive I can only think of how much I had to thank her for even if we were not able to stay together and travel around the world as we wished for.
But I’m not allowing Heavenclaw to take anything anymore from me, from us, and if I have to die for it then so be it, better than living under his crushing paw.
And yet, as I embraced death with a sigh of relief, mother widened eyes filling my vision behind him one last time as his massive figure grows closer, I am surprised when my death does not come and a quick succession of events happen one after the other as quick as it is devastating, a strong gush of wind comes from the side, sharp and cunning, halting the lion griffin so he has to defend himself by shielding his strong wings at his front while attacking with his own wind magic to defend himself.
Only that, when the two blasts collide, instead of dispersing they actually grow stronger and stronger and upturn the winds, the cutting wind evolving into curving waves of a developing tornado uprooting the remaining roots and plants that may have survived the battle thus far, soil joining in and turning this all into a dirt storm.
And there is no way that, at that point, I was able to stand still unscathed by that strong blast.
My vision blacks out for a bit, my weak claws rasping the ground before the strong blast takes the air out of my lungs and my body off the ground, and once I’m back from it I feel a cooling sinking sensation at the pit of my stomach, and it does not take me long to realize why.
Because I’m mid-air among the clouds, only air surrounding me as I am falling down after being pushed over the edge of the floating island by the blast, realizing it so in a panic as I look up and see the unreachable patches of soil floating in the air growing smaller.
"Seraph, you coward griffin! From now on you are banned from the High Lands! Do not dare to never come back here or I will have your hide!"
I can barely hear Heavenclaw scream over the swishing wind pass my hear, his words sounding like a final push as all that I knew until then is simply stolen away from me, and I can only watch with grief as, falling from the sky, my home, my island, my family disappear between the clouds, vanishing as if swallow by a magical mist, forever lost in the vast sea of clouds.
Falling down, bleeding, light-headed and weak, I’m still aware enough to engrave that lion’s face in my memory one last time as he smugly looks down on me, watching me fall to my death, to boil my sadness and despair further into range.
To promise revenge, for me and my mother.
To promise that I would be back to take my place, my home, back.
And that I will take his life even if it is the last thing I do... if I survive, that is.
But if a river is not enough to flood a mountain, then I’ll become the ocean and rack tsunamis out on them!
