Chapter 29: Chapter 29

But of course, to my utmost terror, the horrors that lion had in mind for us did not end there, especially for me and my mother.

"I just thought, ’Alinda’, that since you seemed to like that ’pet’ so much, that maybe some of my very, very persuasive friends can help you change your mind, they are very... convincing after all." He says, a smug look on his face that makes me want to punch him, especially when he licks his black lips and looks mother down, already anticipating the disgusting plans he has for her I bet.

That makes me shudder in anger.

"Heavenclaw, are you crazy?! To lower yourself to this level, you are more despicable than I thought!" Mother says, but her strong façade and glimmering eyes are pushed back down by the force of the lowly demons surrounding her.

"Yes, yes Alinda, you can roar all you want, but nothing will change, you are going to be mine as you were destiny to be!" He says, not as delighted by her defiance as before, having a growling annoyed undertone to his voice.

"Never! You can try you fucker, you can even force yourself on my body, but you will never, never have my heart!"

I could visibly see mother’s words pierce his heart as the lion loses his temper and roars, scaring and stunning the demons into taking a step back, which is enough for mother to escape and dash away towards me.

For a moment I stare widen eyed at the drops of blood tracing down her body and dripping in front of my paws, but even if terror wants to set inside my heart and panic to overflow my mind, part of me knows that, if I lose my cool now, we are doomed.

Plus I’m mother’s son, if she can put up with the pain and stay strong and cool as is, how can I, her son, be satisfied with whimpering away in the corner?

Ding – Pain Resistance 1

Ding – Strong Will 1

Not now ding thingy!

At that mother stands in front of me on her hind legs, opening her majestic white wings and clawing the air to show dominancy, her image fit for a divine creature, ignoring her own wounds and inviting trouble, not scared of them, no... not scared, not ignoring either, but simply aware that if he shows weakness now they will swallow her up.

And I knew that she could easily run away from here if she wanted to, but she stayed because of my wounded self, I know her too well to understand that, even if her wounds run deep, she would still withstand them to save me, even in the situation we are at and the state I’m in.

And that thought, plus her display, is like cold water washing my own pains away as I stare the traitors up.

Heavenclaw just narrows his eyes, but I can see the fury burning behind them, his never ending obsession towards Alinda mixed with rage sparks into a bigger flame at her words.

And burn higher too for him being so close to achieving his most disturbing goal of having her at his mercy.

But like hell I’ll allow him to!

Filled with strong determination my will boils over my pain, but it does not inflate by itself as many pairs of small wings suddenly join us, flustering around.

"Lake, please escape while we keep them busy, there is no point in harming you any further." Says mother without turning, her sharp gaze staring directly at the many enemies at the front without blinking.

"Yes, do as this stubborn ice queen here says, we may trample over you without even seeing." Says the lion, sneering with his big snout, making the demons mock too in return together with the felines griffins, a complacent bunch, very befitting of being put together like this, trash with trash.

"We can hold our own just fine, don’t worry, plus where would we go to?" She says, dismissing his mocking behavior, but I can understand why, after all it is true, I think as Lake talks, if he betrayed the entire island for the demons then nowhere is safe.

And that this is the fairies fight too, for their own home and freedom.

Only that, in that brief moment when I believed that we could turn the ties, that we could somehow win or push them back, my hopes are crushed down once more.

By the new group that arrives.

Lowly demons with animalistic characteristics, horns, sliced pupils, long snake tongues, all looking for trouble as they fall down from the skies and land right behind the other group, and with no time to wonder how they manage such things without wings I’m left petrified at the vision in front of me.

Especially, at the vision of one creature in particular in front of me.

Beyond all the demons around he is the most normal looking of the bunch, and yet I can tell by the pressure emanating from him that he is the most dangerous of them all.

He is dressed in a half black half red tunic, the buttons crossing over and closing on the lateral as the red and gold side fills the vision with its flame design, as the drawing is consuming the black side in an intricate pattern.

Beyond that full of details clothing, there is his long black hair and some sort of tattoo all over his body, shaded in red and literally moving around his skin as if something alive, almost like many small flames reflected and burning throughout his skin.

But as he turns to face us it is his jet black eyes that scare me the most, voided of any compassion as consuming darkness of a moonless night, holding me in place with a mere glance.

We all hold our breaths at his presence, all the lowly demons surround him like ants attracted by sugar, and yet he looks unmoved by it all, slowly raising his hand and swinging his arm to the side.

The mere gust of wind created by such seemly simple move of his arm is enough to make me and mother claw the earth to stay steady as it pushes all the fairies back and back and back, away until they hit whatever was left of their home, some even falling in the lake and over the remains of their flower garden.

At that point I can only stay in place because mother breaks most of the wind with her body in front of me, deliberating stepping in between so her hind legs protect me, but still I can tell the situation is bad, really bad.

For we had been already outnumbered, and now we’re extremely out powered at that.

Heavenclaw had been patient until this day, but his patience has paid off, for he finally has us were he wanted, right on his paw, trapped in his little games.

And I don’t know if we can get out of this unscathed anymore.
