Chapter 265: blinked
Chapter 265: blinked
Kael blinked, his hazel eyes questioning.
"I’ll kiss you after," Freya said, her voice trembling, a quiet vow. "After you come back. Safe."
Kael nodded, his hazel eyes warm, understanding. "Fair."
He made it to the door, his boots soft on the hardwood, but stopped as footsteps followed.
A hand touched his shoulder.
He turned—and Freya kissed him, slow and deep, her lips warm, a promise without words, her platinum-cyan hair brushing his cheek, her blue eyes glistening as she poured her heart into the moment.
She pulled away before he could speak, her voice a low whisper, raw with emotion. "Come back to me."
Kael nodded, his hazel eyes steady, his voice quiet. "I will."
He stepped out, the morning light bright against his face.
Liss was waiting by the gate, car keys dangling from one finger, spinning them with idle grace, her blonde hair tied back in a high tail, the sun catching its golden strands.
Her white tank top and black pants hugged her athletic frame, her blue eyes glinting with her usual unreadable smirk.
"Ready?" she asked, her voice smooth, teasing.
Kael stepped closer, hands in his pockets, his hazel eyes narrowing. "Next time you eavesdrop, try not to breathe so loud."
Liss blinked, then grinned wide, her blue eyes sparkling. "You heard me?"
"It wasn’t subtle," Kael said, his grin teasing, his hazel eyes warm.
"Damn," Liss said, rolling her eyes, twirling the keys once more. "That whole scene was like a soap opera."
They walked toward the car, Tila already waiting by the entrance, arms crossed, foot tapping, her black eyes blazing, still in her maid dress, the tail plug swishing low behind her like an irritated cat.
Kael tilted his head, his hazel eyes glinting. "You’re not changing?"
She looked at him like he was the idiot, her black eyes narrowing. "What? I can?."
Kael held back a smirk, his hazel eyes dancing. "No you can’t."
Tila turned sharply, stomping toward the car, her tail twitching.
Liss was trying not to laugh, her blue eyes sparkling.
Kael glanced back at the villa one more time, his hazel eyes lingering on the windows, the weight of Freya’s kiss and Rhea’s fire heavy in his chest.
He stepped back inside for a moment, his boots soft on the hardwood, heading for Lila’s room.
Her door creaked open, revealing Lila on her bed, curled, her black curls framing her pale face, her black eyes soft and warm as she looked up at him.
"I am going now," Kael said gently, his hazel eyes steady, his voice soft. "Be good, don’t worry about your sister, she is safe with me."
Lila smiled softly, her black eyes shimmering with quiet trust. "I will."
Kael stepped close, bending slightly, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead, his lips warm against her skin.
"Come back safe, Master," she spoke with a small chuckle, her voice a quiet vow, her black eyes warm.
"I will," Kael said, his hazel eyes glinting with resolve, and he left, the villa’s quiet hum fading behind him, the weight of his promises and secrets a storm brewing on the horizon.
.
.
The hum of the engine thrummed through the car, a steady pulse beneath the blur of trees whipping past along the roadside, the world outside a fleeting streak of green and gray.
Kael sat in the backseat beside Tila, his hazel eyes fixed on the window, his posture calm but heavy with unspoken weight.
Liss drove, one arm draped over the wheel, sunglasses perched lazily on her nose, her blonde ponytail swaying with the car’s motion.
Her posture was relaxed, but Kael caught the tension in her—the slight flick of her fingers against the steering wheel every few seconds, a telltale sign of her vigilance.
Tila shifted beside him, her maid skirt folded tightly beneath her thighs, her tail plug swishing faintly with restless energy, her black eyes darting to the window, then down to her lap.
She’d been trying not to ask for nearly twenty minutes, her silence a battle against her own curiosity, her cheeks flushed with the effort.
Finally, she gave in, her voice quiet, guarded, a fragile thread beneath her usual defiance. "Where... are we going?"
Kael looked at her, his hazel eyes steady, then turned back to the window, the weight of his secrets pressing against his chest.
"That’s a secret," he said, his voice low, evasive.
Tila scowled, her black eyes narrowing, her tail twitching sharply. "You brought me, didn’t you? I have a right to—"
Her words stalled as Kael reached under the seat, pulling out a strip of black cloth, its soft fabric catching the dim light.
Tila’s black eyes widened, her breath catching. "...What’s that?"
Kael didn’t answer, his hazel eyes glinting with a quiet resolve as he leaned forward, raising the blindfold.
"Master—" Tila began, her voice trembling, a mix of defiance and fear.
"Don’t fight it," Kael said, his voice firm but gentle, a command wrapped in care.
"I won’t look," she said quickly, her black eyes darting, her voice rising. "You don’t have to blindfold me. I’m your maid. I’ll listen. I’ll—"
But Kael was already tying the blindfold around her head, the soft fabric dragging over her cheeks, his fingers careful not to tug too hard, yet unyielding.
Darkness claimed her vision, the cloth settling against her lashes, her breath hitching as the world vanished.
Kael’s voice dropped beside her ear, warm and steady, a whisper that sent a shiver through her. "Just a precaution."
"You’re being dramatic," Tila muttered, her voice sharp but shaky, her tail twitching nervously, her hands clenching in her lap.
"I’m being careful," Kael said, his hazel eyes softening, though she couldn’t see.
Then came a second sound—the faint jingle of metal.
Click.
Cold steel kissed her wrists, the handcuffs snapping shut, binding her arms in her lap.
Tila gasped, flinching, her black eyes hidden but wide beneath the blindfold, her body tensing as she wriggled once, then stiffened.
