Chapter 260: permission
Kael smiled, leaning in until their foreheads brushed, breath whispering warm across her lips.
Then he kissed her.
Not the soft, fleeting kind—the kind that sets blood humming.
His lips caught hers with hungry patience, firm yet unhurried, tasting her like something sacred.
Freya melted into him, her hand sliding up the hard line of his jaw, fingers curling into his hair as she pressed deeper, their mouths moving together in quiet rhythm.
Her tongue flicked his bottom lip—playful, coaxing—before he opened to her, a low growl vibrating in his chest as their tongues danced, slow and intimate.
The world shrank.
Nothing but the heat between them, the thunderous beat of heart against ribs.
Freya’s breath hitched as she pulled back just enough for their lips to part, barely.
Their noses brushed, breaths tangled, eyes locked. Hers glinted with mischief and promise, pupils blown wide with want.
"Yours," she whispered, voice trembling like a secret—like surrender.
And he smiled again, the kind that made her feel ruined and worshipped all at once.
Behind him, Rhea stirred, her crimson hair a tangled mess, her body clutched to Kael’s back like a koala to a tree, her toned legs wrapped around his waist, her cheek pressed between his shoulder blades.
She mumbled something incoherent, her breath warm against his skin, her fingers twitching faintly, her curves pressed close, a soft intimacy in her unconscious grip.
"Still asleep?" Kael asked over his shoulder, his voice soft, his hazel eyes glinting with amusement.
Rhea nuzzled deeper into him, muttering something about chocolate and my spot, her amber eyes hidden as she let out a soft snore, her body warm and pliant against his.
Freya chuckled, low and husky, her blue eyes sparkling.
"Looks like you’re not going anywhere for a while," she teased, her platinum-cyan hair spilling across the pillow.
Kael turned back to her, his smirk widening, his hazel eyes warm. "So be it."
She smiled and leaned in for another kiss.
Their mouths met again, slower this time, no rush, no need to prove anything, just warm lips moving together, tongues brushing in a tender, unhurried dance.
Her skin pressed against his, soft and warm, her breasts grazing his chest, a quiet agreement passing between them in the silence, their breaths mingling, the kiss a soft vow in the morning light.
Kael lay back between them, his hazel eyes half-lidded, his body relaxed yet anchored by their closeness.
Freya rested her head on his chest, her platinum-cyan hair spilling across him like cool silk, her breath steady, her blue eyes closing briefly, savoring the moment.
Rhea’s grip didn’t loosen once, her bare legs tangled with his, her cheek pressed to his back, her soft snores a gentle rhythm in the quiet room, their shared warmth a fleeting sanctuary amidst the storm Kael wanted to avoid.
But sooner or later he had to face it.
Them.
Tila & Lila.

The dining room was bathed in sunlight, the warm summer air slipping through cracked windows, carrying the scent of blooming jasmine and the faint hum of the city beyond.
The long table was scattered with half-empty plates, bowls of glistening fruit, scrambled eggs, and crusty bread, the remnants of Freya’s cooking filling the air with a savory warmth.
The girls sprawled in their usual chaos—some upright, some half-slouched, all marked by a fatigue that hinted at more than just a lack of sleep.
Rhea sat cross-legged on her chair, her black tank top clinging to her frame, matching shorts hugging her thighs, her crimson hair a tangled flame as she chewed a piece of toast with a scowl, like it had personally offended her.
Her amber eyes glinted with restless energy, her skin still flushed from the previous night’s exertions.
Freya lounged beside her, long legs folded elegantly, one bare foot resting on the chair’s crossbeam, her cyan T-shirt draping her curves, navy lounge pants hugging her hips.
She sipped her tea with a calm, unbothered grace that felt regal despite her exhaustion, her blue eyes half-lidded, her platinum-cyan hair catching the sunlight.
Liss, across from them, looked maddeningly awake, especially after that wet massage, her white tank top clinging to her toned chest, the shortest black shorts leaving her long, golden legs stretched across a second chair.
She stirred her coffee with a lazy confidence, her blonde bun loose, her electric-blue eyes sparkling with amusement.
"I still can’t feel my thighs," Rhea muttered, glaring at her scrambled eggs as if they were to blame, her amber eyes narrowing.
"That’s because you kept falling during the crouch holds," Liss replied, her wicked smile flashing, her blue eyes glinting. "I told you, no powers. Just muscle and balance."
Rhea growled, her crimson hair bouncing. "You call that balance? That was torture!"
Freya raised an elegant brow, her blue eyes flickering with dry amusement. "She made us run drills blindfolded. In the dark. On wet stone. I slipped six times. Almost."
"You needed the practice," Liss said, her voice innocent, her blue eyes twinkling as she sipped her coffee.
Kael chuckled, tearing a piece of bread in half, his hazel eyes warm with amusement. "What were you aiming for Liss, to train them or to break their spines."
Liss looked over at him, her electric-blue eyes sparkling with mischief. "What do you think, Mister I-am-so-tired-I-will-head-to-the-bed-early."
Kael laughed it off, averting his eyes away from her.
Freya rolled her neck, letting out a low sigh, her platinum-cyan hair shifting. "I wouldn’t have minded if she hadn’t taken so much joy in it."
"I take joy in everything," Liss said, licking a bit of jam off her thumb with a teasing smirk, her blue eyes glinting. "Especially watching you two try to pretend you’re not competitive."
Rhea scowled, her amber eyes flashing. "I wasn’t pretending."
"You got mad when Freya finished the wall climb before you," Liss pointed out, her grin widening.
"That’s because she cheated," Rhea snapped, her crimson hair bouncing.
"I didn’t cheat," Freya said calmly, her blue eyes steady. "I’m simply taller."
Kael grinned behind his cup, his hazel eyes dancing. "You’re all adorable when you’re exhausted and... sore."
