Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 73: Monster

Chapter 73: Monster

Adam watches Leila as she displays subtle expressions of jealousy as she looks at Cassie, wrapping her hands around Adam’s arms, pressing her breast into it slightly, and talking about her life.

Cassie then says something that grabs Adam’s attention. Till now, most of her talk involved what she did and what she did with her friends, but then she mentioned something about how her college might lose this season’s rugby league.

"Why’s that?" Adam asks, curious.

"Well, the star players of our college have been injured. Some asshole drove them over when they were crossing the street. Our rugby team captain has a Tabia fracture, and one of our forwards has a double dislocation in his one hand," Cassie says, sighing.

Those injuries sound extremely familiar to Adam because he is the one who caused them.

First, he didn’t expect Cassie and Candice to be students at the same university. Second, he was expecting those boys would try to get back with him, seeing how egotistic they were, but he didn’t expect they would actually listen to his advice and keep his name out of their mouths.

Adam smirks, hearing they went with a car accident excuse.

"You seem very disappointed. What does your rugby team’s misfortune have to do with you?" Leila asks.

"Hehe, well, you two don’t know this about me, I guess. I am one of the cheerleaders," Cassie says, smiling.

Adam didn’t expect this. Looking at Cassie, he would never think she would be a cheerleader.

Sure, she had the looks, but she doesn’t look fit enough to be a cheerleader.

Seeing the doubt in Adam’s eyes, Cassie puffs her cheeks and pouts. "I know what you are thinking. I am not going down there doing stunts and flips, I just dance and cheer for my team," Cassie says.

"I see... You know I would love to see you in your chair leader outfit," Adam says, smiling mischievously at Cassie, making her blush and look away.

*slap* "Ow, why would you do that?" Adam asks as Leila just slapped his hand. Of course, Adam didn’t feel any pain; he was just putting on a show.

"Because you are acting like a pervert," Leila says, rolling her eyes.

"Come on, what guy doesn’t want to see a beautiful, cute girl in a cheerleader outfit dancing?" Adam says, making Cassie blush even more. ’He thinks I am beautiful and cute,’ Cassie thinks, and becomes very happy.

Leila rolls her eyes again, seeing how easily Cassie is getting manipulated by Adam’s words. She stares at Adam, annoyed, but she couldn’t blame him either. Cassie is too easily manipulated, and Adam is just a guy who is taking his chances with her.

Leila is older than both of them, and she has seen such scenarios many times, and she wouldn’t have been this annoyed if she didn’t like Adam as well.

He is just too handsome and charismatic not to like. Leila knows this very well, but her brain chemistry still makes her want to have a piece of Adam.

They continue with their talks until their lunch is over. Once done, Adam leaves first, as he needs to continue with his MMA lessons. There is still so much more to learn, even if he can master everything by just practicing it a few times.

Adam also wants to learn how what he learned will translate inside the ring in a real fight. That is where he will be really tested. He can’t wait to have a sparing match and see how he performs, but before that, he needs to learn all the basics that there are.

Adam arrives at his gym, parks his car in his usual spot, and enters.

As soon as he does, he sees someone talking with Lamai. A guy about the same height and size as him. He has brown hair and is wearing big, round glasses, but from what Adam can observe, this guy is clearly no pushover.

If one is a good observer, they can see his lean frame, his veiny forearms, and the calluses around his knuckles. This guy is a fighter.

"Afternoon, coach," Adam approaches them and greets Lamia. Lamia turns and sees Adam. She presses her lips together as the images of their last session start to play in her head, making her body react instantly.

Her nipples start getting hard, and her pussy feels warm. Luckily, she always wears a sports top in the gym, so they always stay hidden.

She quickly shakes these thoughts away, as she is a coach and her duty is to teach her students, and Adam is her student.

"Afternoon. Let me introduce you to Connor. He will be your new training partner," Lamai says, pointing to the glasses-wearing guy.

"Hi, nice to meet you," Connor immediately extends his hand towards Adam with a genuine smile on his face. Adam shakes his hand and introduces himself. "Nice to meet you too, name’s Adam," Adam says.

"Well, Adam, I hope we can learn a lot from each other," Connor says. Adam nods.

His first impression of Connor is that he is a nice guy. Not the type of nice guy who claims to be a nice guy, but gets emotionally bitter the moment things don’t go as expected. Connor looks genuine, and Adam can feel it.

Adam has started to notice that he seems to have developed a sense at gauging a person’s type by just being next to them. It seems like another function of his evolved body, like a defense mechanism to identify possible threats.

And Adam doesn’t feel any threat from Connor.

As they shake hands, Connor is surprised feeling how firm Adam’s grip is, and he can tell that Adam is not even trying. He turns to look at Lamai, who gives him a knowing smile.

She did inform Connor about Adam, telling him that she has a new student who is a monster and will need an extra bit of help to teach.

Connor was skeptical at first when he heard about Adam and how good he is, even though he has had no prior fighting experience. But seeing him stand before him and shake his hand, Connor starts believing Lamai.

Connor is a very experienced fighter, one of the best in Lamai’s gym, so he has some experience when it comes to gauging someone’s potential, but to truly label Adam as a monster, Connor needs to lock arms with him and go a few rounds with him.

"Why don’t you get ready, and we will continue from where we left off yesterday," Lamai says.

"Sure," Adam nods with a smile and goes on to put on his training clothes.

He comes back soon after, and Lamai immediately switches to teacher mode.

"Let’s begin with grappling practice. Today, you are going to practice what we did yesterday with Connor. Let’s see how you will fare against someone similar to your size," Lamai says with a cheeky smile.

What she doesn’t tell Adam is that Connor is an elite-level grappler and has multiple state-level and national-level medals under his name.

"Sure, let’s do this," Adam says as he is genuinely excited to see how he will fare against someone with much more experience.

Even though he doesn’t know how good Connor is, since Lamai invited him, he must at least have three to four years of experience for Lamai to trust him with a new student like him.

"Okay, on the mat. Start!" Lamai acts as the judge and watches as Adam and Connor engage with each other.

Adam sticks to the basics he has learned from him and tries to make sure he doesn’t give Connor any advantage, but the skill gap between them slowly starts showing.

Connor fakes a lunge and follows up with an arm grab movement, but that also turns out to be a fake, which leaves Adam open to a take-down, which Connor easily capitalizes on.

He takes Adam by the waist and brings him down with all his effort as he immediately becomes aware of Adam’s strength, which surprises him, but his skill makes up for the strength disparity.

He immediately gets on top of Adam and tries to pin him down by putting his entire body weight on top of Adam and putting his hand around Adam’s shoulder.

Adam immediately feels much more challenged. When it came to Lamai, he would easily overpower her, and even with all the skills she had, she couldn’t do anything to Adam.

But Connor is a completely different story. He easily got a better position on Adam and is trying to get a choke in.

But Adam’s instincts are on another level. A beginner like him should have no clue what to do, but Adam finds a way to get out of his predicament, he thrusts his hips, completely throwing Connor off-guard as his entire body gets lifted off the ground, making him lose his leverage as his legs are no longer in contact with the ground.

Adam quickly turns and pulls away from Connor’s clutches and stands back up. Escaping successfully from a very dangerous position.

Connor’s eyes widen with surprise as he can’t believe a beginner like Adam managed to escape his clutches. Even intermediate grapplers won’t be able to do what Adam just did.

But Connor knows it’s not skill that helped Adam. It’s his overwhelming strength. That hip thrust almost threw Connor up in the air. If Connor didn’t have a firm grip on Adam, he would have completely flipped and landed on his back.

Connor realized that Lamai wasn’t joking when she said Adam’s a monster. He now believes it as well.
