Xuanqing kept flying within the World of Darkness. This vast and boundless place was almost as large as the Primordial World and yet, it did not nurture any living beings.

After an unknown period, Xuanqing found a peculiar Top Grade Innate Spirit Root on a mountain formed of condensed Chaos Qi. It was enveloped entirely in the aura of death, extremely tall at tens of thousands of feet, had no flowers or leaves, yet it bore a single snow-white fruit at its peak, radiating a dense vitality.

"Yin and Yang give birth to everything. This Spirit Root, shrouded in death, has produced such a fruit!" Xuanqing looked meaningfully at the Top Grade Innate Spirit Root, and using his mana, he plucked the fruit: "If I’m not mistaken, this must be the legendary Undying Tree!"

The fruit produced by such a Top Grade Innate Spirit Root could certainly not be ordinary, yet upon careful examination, Xuanqing found the fruit had absolutely no effect on him.

And the reason was simple!

This fruit was used to reverse life and death, to strengthen a Yin God True Spirit, allowing it to keep its True Spirit undiminished.

Xuanqing was a Daluo Golden Immortal, having transcended the Three Realms and beyond the Five Elements!

His True Spirit was anchored in the highest dimensions; others might be able to kill his Physical Body and Primordial Spirit, but could not erase the immortality intrinsic to his Daluo Spirit Light.

"Qingcang, I give this fruit to you!"

With a thought, Xuanqing released Qingcang from the "Myriad Soul Banner"; as a Yin God, he was best suited to consume the fruit borne by the Undying Tree.

"Thank you, Superior Immortal, for your generous gift!"

Upon hearing this, Qingcang immediately bowed to Xuanqing, then transformed into a three-headed Pan Hu form and swallowed the Spirit Fruit in one gulp. His Yin God instantly grew much stronger.

He began to inhale and exhale the Yin and Evil Qi of the World of Darkness amply, utilizing the cultivation technique Xuanqing taught him to condense a Netherworld Dharma Body with the endless Yin and Evil Qi.

Boom!

As the Yin and Evil Qi entered his body, his aura continuously grew, and in a blink of an eye, he advanced from the Golden Immortal Realm to a level comparable to the peak of the Taiyi Golden Immortal.

It should be known that at his peak, he was actually at the Golden Immortal Realm. After his fall, with Xuanqing’s help, he barely regained some characteristics of a Golden Immortal.

Now, apart from fearing the Taiyang Fire and the omnipresent aura of death, he felt his strength far exceeded his past self.

"Isn’t there a heavenly tribulation?"

Xuanqing watched Qingcang with interest. The fact that the other could break through to the Taiyi Golden Immortal Realm indicated that his earlier deductions on the Ghost Immortal cultivation technique were correct.

However, perhaps due to having died once or because the Heavenly Dao of the Netherworld could not reach here, Qingcang’s breakthrough to the Taiyi Realm did not trigger a heavenly tribulation!

He thought for a moment, then released the other Yin Spirits from the "Myriad Soul Banner". The environment of the World of Darkness was perfect for these Yin Spirits to cultivate.

Benefiting from this environment, the Yin Spirits collected by Xuanqing began to form their physical bodies.

And Xuanqing’s deductions gained more references.

"Thank you, Superior Immortal, for granting us a new life!"

Under Qingcang’s lead, these Yin Gods all kowtowed and said, "If not for the Superior Immortal, our souls would have dispersed long ago. We wish to honor you as the Ancestor of the Ghost Immortals!"

Master of Ghost Immortals?

Xuanqing shook his head slightly: "The cultivation method I devised currently only allows you to practice until the peak of Taiyi Golden Immortal; how could I be called the ancestor of Ghost Immortals?"

He indeed wished to!

But to be revered as an ancestor, let alone cultivation for the moment, one must forge a system that can cultivate to the Daluo, and only then can they gain recognition from Heavenly Dao.

"You all cultivate here in peace!"

"Seeking life in death!"

Xuanqing sighed softly, "If successful, it would be like the Phoenix Nirvana and deadwood sprouting anew! Alas, Pangu God ultimately fell short of success!"

A surge of realizations about the Dao of life and death, Reincarnation, Yin Yang, Nirvana, and decay instantly flooded into Xuanqing’s spiritual platform.

The Dao Tree within the Inner Scenery Land started growing again, swiftly reaching from thirty thousand zhang to fifty thousand zhang.

This is the benefit that comes from a Top Grade Innate Spirit Root, containing profound Dao insights.

Vaguely, he envisioned a possibility where, through a Yin God’s form, one could achieve the status of Daluo Golden Immortal. It required much more time to refine, however.

Xuanqing wandered in the World of Darkness for ten thousand years, yet hadn’t encountered opportunities similar to the Undying Tree, making him suspect, "Could it be that my fortune has reached another limit?"

Whether clearing the Evil Qi from the One Hundred Thousand Great Mountains, refining the Qi of the Five Mountains, or breaking through to Daluo Golden Immortal, he could feel the growth of his own fortune. However, forcibly entering the World of Darkness and finding the Undying Tree somehow consumed much of the fortune he had gained!

Opposites are the motion of Dao, weakness is the use of Dao; the Heavenly Dao won’t always favor one person. When fortune is abundant, one might stumble upon opportunities just by stepping outside, but encountering opportunities can also deplete one’s own fortune.

Therefore, if one doesn’t find ways to increase their fortune, their cultivation could reach a stalemate, even missing treasures in a wealthy land!

The once glorious clans of Dragons, Phoenixes, and Qilins, and now the Witch and Demon Clan, all vie for fortune!

"Fortune aids those who are prepared, yet may restrict even heroes," this isn’t just an idle saying.

Perhaps there are still many opportunities in the World of Darkness, but with insufficient fortune and lack of recognition from the will of the World of Darkness, these chances are hard to discover.

"It seems urgent to refine the Ghost Immortal System," lamented Xuanqing, "Pioneering the path should bring considerable fortune!"

With that thought, he immediately returned to the Undying Tree to study the "Ghost Immortal Dao" along with the Ghost Dao Avatar, exploring techniques suitable for spectral beings.

Cultivation knows not time, and in the blink of an eye, thirty thousand years had passed.

One day, Xuanqing and the Ghost Dao Avatar opened their eyes simultaneously: "It’s difficult for Yin Spirits to reach sanctity through ordeals; why then insist on forcibly emulating the Heavenly Immortal System?"

Following Heavenly Immortals are True Immortals, after True Immortals are Golden Immortals, after Golden Immortals is Taiyi, and after Taiyi is Daluo, leading to the slaying of the Three Corpses with an Innate Spiritual Treasure...

This is the Path of Heavenly Immortals!

Transforming blessed lands into Grotto Heavens, Grotto Heavens into Minor Thousand Worlds, Minor Thousand Worlds into Median Thousand Worlds, Median Thousand Worlds into Great Thousand Worlds, allowing the world essence to continually advance...

This is the Path of Earth Immortals!

And Xuanqing, though he had shaped part of the Ghost Immortal System, was still gravitating towards the Heavenly Immortal System, causing a significant deviation in his path.

"The Path of Ghost Immortals should start with Yin Gods and differ from the Paths of Heavenly and Earth Immortals!"

"True Spirits should be clear, Yin Qi should form shapes, transforming Yin Spirits into Yin Gods should define a Ghost Immortal!"

"Ghost Immortals understanding the Great Dao, using Yin Sha Qi to forge physical bodies, should be Ghost Kings. Although Ghost Kings have flaws, they are roughly equivalent to the True Immortal Realm of the Immortal Dao System!"

"A Ghost King comprehending the true essence of life and death, condensing a trace of undying Dao insights, can become a Ghost God. Though lacking the undying spirit light of a Golden Immortal, they can achieve undying spirit while maintaining an immortal body!"

"Further advancing, a Ghost God transforms into the Netherworld, commands myriad ghosts, on par with Taiyi, and can be called a Ghost Emperor!"

"Above a Ghost Emperor should be a Ghost Emperor. Though lacking the Daluo’s undying characteristic, storing the Primordial Spirit in the World of Darkness can achieve a level comparable to a Daluo Golden Immortal!"

"I shall be the Forefather of Ghost Immortals!"

As Xuanqing’s final words fell, an enigmatic Dao essence suddenly emanated from his body, and the Primordial Spirit formed a connection with the World of Darkness.

Having difficulties in sanctifying through ordeals and possessing Daluo characteristics, he instead leveraged the power of the World of Darkness, enabling the Ghost Emperor to attain strength comparable to a Daluo Golden Immortal.

Like achieving the state of Primordial Daluo Golden Immortal by embedding the Primordial Spirit into the Heavenly Dao, it was another shortcut.
