Chapter 204: Chapter204-Resurrection Ritual
Faced with someone as "naïve" as Daniel, Kalthor began weaving his web of temptation.
"O human," Kalthor declared grandly, "for the great deed of resurrecting me, I am willing to make you my chosen."
"Whatever you desire, I can give it to you. Once I am revived, I will help you ascend the throne of the Human Emperor."
"This Millennium Apocalypse? It’s nothing to be afraid of. After it’s over, I will make you the supreme ruler of this world!"
"Just imagine it—the other races crawling at your feet, while you stand alone at the pinnacle of power!"
"So, what do you say, my friend? Aren’t you excited about such a glorious future?"
Of course, not even in his wildest imagination would Kalthor have guessed that everything he promised had already become reality. Daniel had long since surpassed what Kalthor was offering.
At this point, the only thing Daniel truly desired... was Kalthor’s soul.
Despite the stream of extravagant promises, Daniel simply smiled politely.
"Yes, that all sounds like what I’ve been looking for. Now, please—tell me what I need to do."
Without delay, Kalthor shared the details of the resurrection process.
However, a slight disagreement arose between the two regarding the location of the ritual.
Kalthor insisted on being revived within his own Divine Temple.
Daniel, however, cited a lack of materials and firmly insisted on using a location of his choosing. Kalthor, though reluctant, had no choice but to agree—after all, Daniel was his only hope for returning to life.
Behind the scenes, Kalthor was also trying to reach his divine chosen—his devout followers—but, oddly enough, he was unable to contact a single one of them.
Still, he had no better option.
And besides, he had absolute faith in his own strength. As long as Daniel could safely stand in a certain place, then surely Kalthor himself would be safe there too.
Once the details were finalized, Daniel disappeared in a flash and reappeared in the Abyss.
He had decided to conduct the resurrection ritual within the Abyss itself. As for the required materials, he could gather everything he needed right on site.
A single order from him, and the necessary ingredients would be delivered without delay.
With the help of several clones, the resurrection array was quickly constructed.
When the time came to perform the ritual, Daniel made a calculated choice: he used replica versions of divine blood for the sacrifice.
These replicas, however, had been modified.
Mixed into them were impurities—traces of Abyssal corruption, potent toxins, and other carefully chosen pollutants.
On the other side, Kalthor sensed all of this—but simply sneered in his mind.
"So this is the human’s little trick?"
"These lesser beings always resort to underhanded schemes and petty tricks."
He was utterly convinced of his superiority.
In Kalthor’s eyes, Daniel was nothing more than a lowly insect. That such a creature dared try to deceive him was almost laughable.
Still, what did it matter?
No trick, no poison, no corruption could possibly affect someone of Kalthor’s level.
The Abyss was nothing but a pit of mud to him.
He could feel the enormous energy building within the resurrection array.
And at the same time, scattered across the world, fragments of his once-mighty body began to glow with divine light.
One by one, the severed limbs and broken remains started to vanish from where they lay and reappear above the array.
Then came a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Those decayed, ruined body parts began fusing together—slowly, steadily reforming into a complete, whole body.
A terrifying aura began to emanate from the ritual circle.
The Abyssal Emperor Malkar sensed the disturbance and appeared beside Daniel almost immediately.
But the moment his gaze fell on the ritual, he froze in disbelief.
"My friend... what are you doing?" Malkar asked, voice tinged with unease.
Daniel responded in an offhand, dismissive tone.
"Just a resurrection ritual."
He no longer had to be cautious around Malkar. In fact, his current strength far surpassed the Abyssal Emperor’s.
So he didn’t even bother to explain further.
But from Malkar’s perspective, this was no ordinary resurrection.
No—this was the awakening of something monstrous.
It reminded him of those terrifying entities from a thousand years ago... beings who had nearly become gods, only to be struck down at the final moment.
They had been horrifically powerful—not just strong, but apocalyptic.
Even Malkar, mighty as he was, couldn’t suppress a shiver at the thought.
Of course, the Malkar of a thousand years ago had been far weaker than he was now.
Even so, he didn’t dare move forward.
The ritual was already complete, and the being at its center was almost fully restored. Trying to stop it now was too late—pointless.
From the heart of the array, an overwhelming pressure exploded outward, shaking the entirety of the Abyss.
"Resurrect!"
With a low, rumbling voice, Kalthor’s form materialized at the center of the ritual.
A surge of blood-like aura rushed outward, instantly engulfing both Daniel and Malkar.
Standing before Daniel was now the fully restored Kalthor.
[Kalthor]
[Level: 300]
[Class: Unique]
...
As soon as he regained consciousness, Kalthor realized he was in the Abyss.
Off to the side, Malkar’s vines were trembling uncontrollably.
Seeing the fear etched across Malkar’s face, Daniel couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
"My friend," he asked lightly, "what are you so afraid of?"
In truth, Malkar felt a deep, instinctive fear toward Kalthor.
A thousand years ago, they had encountered one another—and Malkar had barely escaped with his life.
He might be nearly immortal, but nearly immortal was not the same as invincible.
Kalthor had nearly erased him from existence.
Now, with Kalthor standing tall again, Malkar’s entire being screamed danger.
It was then that Kalthor finally spoke.
"Human... since you were the one who brought me back, I won’t kill you."
"And that—" his tone sharpened, "—is the last bit of mercy you’ll receive from me."
With those words, his eyes swept disdainfully across the Abyss.
"But I will make sure you live long enough to watch as this world is reduced to ashes at my hand."
"Pitiful, shameless little insect—remember this: it was because of you that this world will perish."
"You’ll live the rest of your life in agony... with that truth."
