Chapter 140: Arrival (1)

After over ten hours of driving, the sky had already surrendered to the encroaching darkness when Adrian’s Rover rolled to a stop before the bridge.

The two Trailblazers trailing behind him halted in unison, their engines falling silent against the backdrop of the evening’s chill.

Adrian stepped out of his vehicle, and with a subtle gesture, the Rover vanished into his [Inventory].

He signaled for the others to disembark, and as they did, Eli slammed the door of his Trailblazer shut with a decisive thud.

Without hesitation, Adrian made both Trailblazers disappear into his [Inventory] as well.

The group had long since forged an unspoken pact: Adrian’s abilities defied explanation, and questioning them was a waste of breath.

The vehicles vanishing into thin air was, to them, as ordinary as the setting sun.

El broke the stillness first. "So, lad, we’re gonna begin crossing now?"

Adrian was already striding forward.

"Yes," he called back without turning. "Let’s be quick. As I explained earlier, we’ll move in two groups, so the first should start crossing now."

No one dared argue. Eli responded with a hearty, "Aye, aye," before rounding up the nine passengers who’d shared his Trailblazer.

Among them were his wife, Mara, and her circle of friends.

The second Trailblazer had carried eleven men under Jeffery’s charge, but Eli turned to Charles and, "You’ll be joining us, Charles, to even things out a bit."

Charles’s face twisted into a grimace, his lips parting as if to protest, but a single glance from his twin brother quelled him instantly.

With a huff, he shuffled into line behind Eli’s group.

As they set off toward the bridge, Adrian made a snap decision to join them.

He originally planned for them to continue the journey after they crossed, but the weariness etched into their faces stopped him.

Ten hours of nonstop driving had dulled their spirits. ’I guess we’ll be camping here.’

Turning to Jeffery, who stood poised as the leader of the second group, Adrian said, "I’ll tag along with them. Don’t step onto the bridge until we’ve reached the other side. I’ll call you when we do."

He paused, eyeing the structure critically. "As you’ve probably noticed, it’s quite weak. It’ll need modifications in the future."

Jeffery gave a curt nod. "Got it."

Adrian fell in step behind Eli’s group as they crossed the bridge, their pace steady but unhurried.

The women talked among themselves while Charles, meanwhile, seized the opportunity to annoy Eli with his boring tales.

Adrian, trailing silently at the rear, noted their sluggish progress, but still decided to not to pressure them.

When the last of their group stepped off the bridge onto solid ground, Adrian summoned a Communicator from his [Inventory] and activated it.

"Start coming."

Through the night sky, he could just make out Jeffery’s group on the far side, their figures stirring into motion as Jeffery acknowledged the command.

With that settled, Adrian turned to face Eli’s group, cutting through their idle conversation.

"It’s late, so we’ll be camping here," he announced. "We’ll cross the mountain tomorrow."

No one objected, but their eyes roamed the barren landscape. Hard, unyielding ground stretching toward the looming silhouette of the mountain.

The question hung unspoken in the air: Where would they rest in a place like this?

Charles took the initiative to voice out, "So... We’ll be sleeping here?"

Adrian didn’t bother answering directly. Instead, he strode a few paces ahead and unloaded his [Inventory].

Folded tents materialized on the ground, followed by magical heaters and coolers.

Baskets brimming with ingredients appeared alongside a massive 3-Star magical beast.

Cooking pots, utensils, bedrolls, lights... everything needed to establish a comfortable camp appeared in a perfectly arranged cluster.

The group stood slack-jawed, their fatigue momentarily eclipsed by awe.

Turning back to them, Adrian allowed a faint smile to tug at his lips. "Good thing I brought supplies."

The next few hours unfolded with remarkable efficiency, a testament to the diverse skills and innate resourcefulness of Adrian’s newly assembled team.

The initial shock of the sudden appearance of a fully stocked camp quickly gave way to a flurry of purposeful activity.

Everyone immediately found a role. They began by meticulously sorting through the bounty Adrian had summoned.

When Jeffery’s group finally arrived, having crossed the bridge quicker than the last. Seeing the chaos, they immediately joined in.

Some of the men gravitated towards the water problem. Without needing Adrian’s direct instruction, they quickly located the river below the bridge.

Within minutes, a pumping machine from Adrian’s [Inventory] was installed and pipes were fixed, allowing water to draw up to the surface.

With water readily available, the pace of preparation accelerated even further.

A collective murmur of amazement went through the cooking party as they began to butcher the massive 3-Star magical beast Adrian had provided.

The meat was not merely preserved; it was astonishingly fresh, as if the creature had been slain moments ago.

There was no hint of cold storage either, just the vibrant color and supple texture of recently harvested game.

The phenomenon puzzled and amazed most of them, but they didn’t bother to question Adrian on how he had accomplished such a feat.

They simply accepted it as another facet of his extraordinary abilities, working in harmonious concert, their discussions now focused on the best cuts for roasting and the most flavorful spices to use, interspersed with shared stories and laughter.

Adrian, meanwhile, found himself with little to do. The camp was being set up with impressive efficiency, and his presence wasn’t immediately required.

He decided to focus on the next, far more daunting challenge: the mountains

He walked towards a tent he had set up himself.

"Jeffery. Charles. With me," he called, his voice carrying easily over the camp noise.

Both men looked up from their tasks. Jeffery securing a water bucket, Charles enthusiastically (if messily) helping chop root vegetables.

They exchanged a glance, wiped their hands, and followed Adrian into the tent.

Adrian stepped inside and waved a hand. Three sturdy chairs appeared, arranged in a small circle.

He took one, gesturing for the brothers to sit before saying:

"You’re both aware we’ll have to cross those mountains tomorrow."
