Chapter 138: Chapter 137: Putting him in place

He gave a small smirk, sharp and warning, but Cyruz just rolled his eyes, not taking it seriously.

"Hey! Who are you, entering my estate without permission?" he said, puffing up like he owned the place.

His eyes narrowed at Tiana, who still hadn’t said a word. "What, you ugly or something? Hiding your face behind a fan?" Cyruz mocked, laughing with his friends. "You really suit each oth—"

He reached forward with one hand, aiming to push the fan away or maybe her shoulder—whatever it was, he didn’t get the chance.

In a blink, Sylfia stepped in, her hand grabbing Cyruz’s wrist in a fluid motion. Before anyone could react, she shifted her weight and executed a flawless throw—flipping him mid-air and slamming him down on the polished floor with a thud that made even the walls seem to pause.

"Urgh—!" Cyruz groaned, stunned, sprawled on his back with his hand twisted and pinned by Sylfia’s grip.

His friends froze, wide-eyed.

Sylfia didn’t say a word, standing tall with her hood falling slightly, her black silk mask covering half her face, her cold eyes glaring down as if daring any of them to move.

Axelius, meanwhile, looked down at Cyruz and gave a slow exhale through his nose. "Should’ve kept walking."

They continued walking, leaving Cyruz and his humiliated friends behind. Tiana’s laughter was soft, hidden behind her fan.

"It seems like you’re quite aware of what Sylfia is capable of."," she said with interest.

Axelius glanced at Sylfia, his eyes briefly studying her before replying in a cool, composed tone, "The calluses on her knuckles, the subtle shift in her balance when she walks, the way her eyes scan even when she seems still That’s not something you get from reading or cooking..."

Tiana raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.

"She favors her left side when guarding you, which means she’s dominant with her right. Her stance hides no opening, even when standing casually. That’s not something you learn unless you’ve fought to survive."

Axelius added with a shrug, "Besides, It’s just common sense. You’re a princess, after all. There should always be someone nearby who can kill without talking."

Tiana smiled behind her fan. "You’re sharper than most nobles I’ve met."

After a few more steps, they reached the large gates outside the estate. A sleek, elegant carriage arrived—black and gold, with a royal crest faintly engraved on the door. The coachman quickly opened it as Princess Tiana stepped forward.

She turned slightly, giving Axelius a small nod. "Thank you for walking us out."

He returned the nod without a word, Just as Sylfia turned to follow her princess, Axelius suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm.

Sylfia blinked and turned to look at him, slightly surprised. The motion caused her hood to fall back—revealing her long, black silk-like hair that fluttered softly in the breeze. For a brief moment, their eyes locked.

Axelius froze. Her expression didn’t change, but her pale blue eyes met his.

A strange feeling stirred in Axelius’s chest But before he could say anything, Sylfia reached up and pulled her hood back into place.

"Let’s go, Sylfia," Princess Tiana called from inside the carriage.

Sylfia turned her head slightly, waiting... maybe expecting him to say something. But Axelius didn’t. He just let go of her arm slowly, his fingers brushing the sleeve of her cloak.

Seeing he had nothing more to say, she gave him a small bow, then climbed into the carriage. Axelius stood still, watching the carriage roll away through the estate gate, the sound of wheels fading with distance.

He didn’t move, not even when Millie stepped beside him quietly. For some reason, he kept thinking...of seeing those eyes again.

He suddenly heard a loud voice.

"Damn it! Don’t let her leave! STOP THAT CARRIAGE!" someone shouted.

He turned his head slightly and saw Cyruz running toward the gates, pushing past the guards, his voice panicked and desperate.

Axelius sighed, his expression turning cold.

As Cyruz passed by him, Axelius stepped forward—and without warning, kicked Cyruz straight in the knee.

"Ugh—!" Cyruz dropped to one knee, his body forced to kneel from the sudden pain. "W-What?! What the heck, Axelius?! You—!"

But before Cyruz could stand up, Axelius grabbed the back of his head and drove his knee hard into Cyruz’s face, sending him crashing to the ground, blood dripping from his nose.

"Gahhh—!" Cyruz groaned, clutching his face.

Gasps echoed around the estate. A few of Cyruz’s noble friends froze in place, unable to believe what they just saw.

Axelius stood over him, "What? Not enough?"

Cyruz gritted his teeth, rage in his eyes as he tried to push himself up. "You...!"

But Axelius grabbed his hair, yanking his face up to meet his gaze. "Look," Axelius said, pointing with his chin toward the now-distant carriage just rolling out of sight. "You see that crest on the side?"

"I don’t fucking ca—"

"Look. At. It."

Axelius forced Cyruz’s head to turn, making sure he saw the royal emblem shining faintly in the sunlight. Cyruz squinted through the blood and swelling, and then his eyes widened.

Axelius let go, tossing him back to the ground like garbage.

"That’s right, Cyruz. That’s a royal carriage."

Cyruz lay there, stunned. His voice trembled, "T-that’s... that was a... Th-hen she-"

Axelius crouched down beside him, resting a hand on Cyruz’s shoulder and glancing up at the shocked nobles watching from a distance.

"Yeah that... was this kingdom princess you just tried to lay a hand on. Idiot."

Then he stood up, brushed the dust off his coat, and walked back toward the estate without looking back.

As Axelius walked back into the estate, he saw Cedric standing near a pillar, looking at the carriage that was now far away.

Cedric looked at him and muttered, "How did you know the princess?"

Axelius smiled and shrugged. "Secret,"

Then he stepped past Cedric and added, "Take care of your twin brother. What he did today could have caused big trouble, you wouldn’t just be dealing with a nosebleed."

Cedric sighed and gave a small nod. "Thank you," he said quietly before walking toward Cyruz, who was still sitting on the ground with blood on his face.

Millie followed behind Axelius and caught up beside him. "You did the right thing, young master," she said softly. "That could’ve ended badly."

Axelius didn’t look back. His voice was low and thoughtful. "I heard a lot from Owen about royalty. If Cyruz had really pissed her off, this whole Dravenhart family could’ve been dragged into it."

Millie nodded slowly. "At best, it would be political trouble. At worst... it could’ve meant the king’s wrath."

Axelius clicked his tongue and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Tch. I can’t lose this family yet," he muttered.
