Chapter 1710: Chapter 1704: Didn’t Recognize
However, no matter how fiercely they were fighting over there, it didn’t affect the two onlookers watching the drama unfold from the side one bit.
Meanwhile, Chu Molin and the rest were rushing toward this location as well, following numerous marks left by Qing Zhu along the way—though, in fact, some of them were also tossed down by Yu Ze.
Before Qin Su’e handed him over to these men, he had thrown down every item he could from his body. When he finally ran out of things to throw, he stopped.
That said, Qing Zhu had made markings consistently along the journey, so at the beginning, Chu Molin and his team discovered two distinct sets of markers.
At first, they thought they might have made a mistake. But after coming across the same pattern several times, they finally recalled the cleverness of their own son. Following those clues, they pressed on. They never anticipated, however, that upon arrival, they would witness two people watching the scene and three others embroiled in combat.
Their unexpected arrival startled everyone present. By the time those involved regained their senses, Chu Molin and his team were already standing beside them.
"Qing Zhu, are you all right?" Qin Xue asked as soon as she saw Qing Zhu.
"Do you have anything to eat or drink?" Qing Zhu hadn’t expected that it was really Qin Xue and the others who had arrived. She was starving.
"Yes. Where’s the child? And what’s going on with them?" Qin Xue glanced toward the people fighting each other before pulling some food out of her bag for Qing Zhu.
Qin Xue had developed the habit of carrying food after having her child because she often found herself getting hungry and needing snacks. After giving birth, she worried the child might starve, so she continued carrying food, just in case.
This time, she’d packed more than usual, knowing that Yu Ze and Qing Zhu had been missing for a whole day and night. She wasn’t sure if he had anything to eat, so she prepared extra for scenarios like this. Fortunately, the food and drink came in handy now.
"There’s a guy named Silver Wolf—he’s the one being attacked by the two men. He claims that he’s here to save someone, while the others are the ones who took Yu Ze away," Qing Zhu answered Qin Xue’s questions as she wolfed down the food, clearly famished.
"But why are they fighting? And where’s the child?" Qin Xue watched Qing Zhu eat ravenously. She was glad the food she brought was rice balls and not dry rations; otherwise, Qing Zhu might’ve choked at this pace.
"Yu Ze and the others are over there. These people came to probe for information about Silver Wolf," Qing Zhu responded after swallowing a mouthful of food. She didn’t want to risk choking to answer sooner.
"How many people are there over there?" Qin Xue now wanted to know if they could manage a rescue effort.
"Two," Qing Zhu said, raising two fingers.
"Alright, you eat up. We’ll head over to check on Yu Ze." Qin Xue left some water for Qing Zhu before moving to Chu Molin’s side.
"Chu Molin, the child is over there. Qing Zhu said there are two more people present," Qin Xue relayed the information she had gathered to Chu Molin.
"Alright, I’ll go take a look." Chu Molin had been standing aside observing all this time. He hadn’t expected Ye Xuan to appear here. Indeed, Silver Wolf was none other than Ye Xuan. Chu Molin had recognized him at first glance.
The reason Qing Zhu hadn’t recognized Ye Xuan was because she had only seen him once before—back when she saved him. After that, he had left, and they never crossed paths again. They weren’t exactly close, so Qing Zhu hadn’t kept him in mind and, naturally, didn’t recognize him this time. Otherwise, Qing Zhu might not have treated him as though he were some kind of thief to guard against.
This amusing misunderstanding led the two to spend an entire night avoiding further discussion on how best to proceed. Instead, they spent the time together as if they were adversaries. Even this morning, they were still butting heads. The whole scenario was undeniably both absurd and comical.
