Chapter 1695: Chapter 1689: The Unexpected Person

Who knew that after he reported to the police, he went and informed Qin Lei, so Qin Lei came back with him.

"That’s good. Mom, you go make something to eat. I’ll watch the kids; otherwise, when they come back, they’ll all be starving. Don’t overthink it, Yu Ze will be fine." Although Qin Xue was also very worried about her son, seeing her mother like this, she still tried to comfort her.

"Alright, I’ll go cook. You’ve all been out searching the whole day; you must be hungry. I’ll go make some food. Only after eating your fill will you have the strength to keep searching for the child." Nangong Shulan quickly said after hearing her daughter, and then went straight into the kitchen.

Since her daughter and the others had gone out to search as soon as they returned in the morning and hadn’t been back until now, they hadn’t eaten all day. Surely they were starving, as would be everyone else. So she had to cook. Nangong Shulan thought about this while rinsing the rice and putting it in the pot to cook.

One by one, the others had all begun returning, but seeing the expressions on their faces, Qin Xue’s heart sank to rock bottom. The child was still missing. Where exactly had Yu Ze been taken?

"Yingying, did you find anything at all?" Qin Xue asked Nangong Beiying.

"No. On the way back, I also asked the others, and there were no leads. Logically, in a place this small, and the child hadn’t gone far, with so many of us searching, we should have found something. But after searching the whole day and still nothing, it must mean we’re looking in the wrong direction." Nangong Beiying realized only upon returning that nobody had found the child.

So, on the way back, she carefully reviewed the entire situation and arrived at this conclusion. But where exactly had things gone wrong? She still didn’t know.

"The direction? Could it be that Cohen remembered wrong?" Qin Xue muttered, pondering Nangong Beiying’s words and seizing on a crucial thought.

"Xue’er." Just as everyone was at their wit’s end, a voice called out from the doorway.

"Chu Molin?" Qin Xue looked through the crowd toward the doorway, where someone who shouldn’t have been there at this moment appeared.

"It’s me. What happened?" Chu Molin looked at the heavy expressions on everyone’s faces, and his heart sank. Could something really have gone wrong?

"Chu Molin, weren’t you supposed to have gone back? How are you here?" Qin Xue didn’t hear what Molin said after "It’s me." As soon as she heard those two words, she felt an overwhelming sense of grievance.

Who on earth had the heartless nerve to take her son? Who would do this to her? She had done nothing to offend anyone here, so why would someone target her in such a cruel way?

"We can talk about that later. First, tell me, did something happen?" Chu Molin looked at his wife, whose eyes were red, feeling deeply anxious, though he didn’t show it on his face.

"Yu Ze has been taken, but we can’t find him." Qin Xue spoke as her tears fell. The tears she had held back all day finally spilled over the moment she saw Chu Molin.

"When did this happen? How much time has passed since the child went missing?" Upon hearing the news, Chu Molin understood that something bad had indeed happened. He had arrived a moment too late.

But now was not the time to dwell on that. Getting the details was the most critical thing.

"It’s been nearly nine hours since the child went missing. We’ve been searching since we arrived in the village this morning, but we still haven’t found him. Chu Molin, nothing will happen to our son, right? He’s still so young; he must be terrified, right?" At first, Qin Xue was speaking directly to Chu Molin, but by the end, it was as if she was talking to herself.

"Mm, nothing will happen to him. Trust me. You all haven’t eaten anything all day. Go have something to eat and rest for a while. Then we’ll revisit this whole matter again and figure out exactly what’s going on." Chu Molin gently pulled her into his arms. She had been through so much today; it must have been unbearable.
