Chapter 123 Wu Liang
Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Wu Liang
"We just hired him recently. Qianqian said we’d only hire him for this month over the New Year, so we didn’t mention it to you. You can go see him at the shop later; he’s really a nice guy."
Ye’s mother said while serving the food.
"Alright, after we finish eating, you can rest at home. Ye Hao and I will go help Qianqian."
Both Ye Fu and Ye’s mother were very kind-hearted, so sometimes it was easy to deceive them.
Gu Yi also wanted to see what kind of person was hired that made Ye’s mother want to match him with Ye Qian.
After finishing lunch, Gu Yi and Ye Hao carried lunch boxes to the shop.
Even though it was lunchtime, the shop was still crowded.
"Dad."
"Dad, Yiyi and I brought lunch for you guys."
As soon as Gu Yi and Ye Hao walked in, they greeted Ye Fu. Since there were too many people around the cash register where Ye Qian was, they didn’t go over.
"Why didn’t you rest a bit more at home? Your mom came this morning saying you were back. You must be tired from the long trip."
Ye Fu was grinning with joy when he saw them come over.
"It’s fine, we slept all morning and have recovered. We’re here to help out. Dad, you start eating; I’ll handle things."
Ye Hao seated Ye Fu at the round table in the shop and put the lunch boxes down.
"It’s okay, I’ll eat when there are fewer customers."
Seeing the shop filled with people, Ye Fu didn’t feel comfortable eating.
"You should eat first, or it’ll get cold. Yiyi and I can take care of the customers."
Ye Fu was too old to stay hungry for long periods.
Ye Hao said, glancing at Gu Yi, who was already weighing cakes for the customers.
"Alright, then I’ll eat first."
Watching Gu Yi skillfully serve the customers, Ye Fu took Ye Hao’s advice and sat down to eat.
Ye Hao went to Gu Yi’s side and took over her task.
"I’ll weigh them. You go help Qianqian."
Seeing the line at Ye Qian’s register, Ye Hao directed Gu Yi to assist her.
"Okay, you take over."
Saying this, Gu Yi went behind the cash register.
"Sister-in-law, why are you here at the shop? You should be resting at home."
Only when Gu Yi went inside did Ye Qian notice her.
"I’ve rested enough, so I came to help. You handle the payments, and I’ll do the bagging."
As soon as Gu Yi arrived, she divided the tasks with Ye Qian.
"Sure, thank you, sister-in-law."
Gu Yi gave Ye Qian a smile.
The two of them began collecting payments and bagging items.
With an extra helper, the line of customers quickly dwindled.
"Mom mentioned you hired someone at the shop. Why haven’t I seen him?"
When there were only a couple of people left in line, Gu Yi looked around the shop and didn’t see the young man Ye’s mother mentioned, so she directly asked Ye Qian.
"Oh, the flour ran out, so he went to buy some."
Gu Yi noticed a shy look in Ye Qian’s eyes when she talked about the young man.
It seemed like she had a bit of a crush on him.
Gu Yi thought to herself that she would have to take a good look at him when he returned.
"You should eat; it’s been a while, and the food might be cold."
Seeing no more customers, Gu Yi urged Ye Qian to eat.
"Okay, sister-in-law, please watch the shop for me. I’m starving."
Without Gu Yi at home, Ye Qian always felt she had to keep the shop running and take care of Ye Fu and Ye’s mother, making herself stronger.
But when she was in front of Gu Yi, it felt like she had someone to depend on, and she couldn’t help but act a bit spoiled.
"Go ahead."
Gu Yi smiled warmly at her.
Ye Fu finished his meal and took over Ye Hao’s task.
Ye Hao moved to assist Gu Yi.
"Qianqian, should I put the flour in the back warehouse?"
While they were ringing up customers, someone called from the shop’s entrance.
"Yes, just put it in the warehouse."
From her reply, it seemed they were familiar with each other. Ye Qian responded while still eating her meal.
"Alright, can you open the door in the back for me?"
Hearing this, Ye Qian took her bowl and went to open the door for him.
Gu Yi saw someone carrying two bags of flour inside.
Because the flour blocked the person’s face, Gu Yi only glanced before resuming her task.
"Yiyi, I’m going to help carry the flour."
Seeing more flour in the tricycle at the entrance, Ye Hao informed Gu Yi before heading out to help.
When the person came out from inside.
Gu Yi glanced over and suddenly froze.
She felt as if all the blood rushed to her head in an instant.
"Hey, buddy, can you hurry up? I’m in a rush."
Gu Yi stood in place, dazed.
The customer waiting to check out impatiently urged.
"Oh, sorry, sorry."
Gu Yi snapped back and completed the transaction.
Ye Qian returned to the register after finishing her meal.
"Sister-in-law, are you okay? You look pale."
As soon as Ye Qian came back, she noticed something was off with Gu Yi.
"Oh, I’m fine, really."
Gu Yi moved aside, letting Ye Qian take over.
Ye Hao overheard Ye Qian and walked over to Gu Yi.
"What’s wrong? Your hands are so cold."
He took Gu Yi’s hand, noticing something was amiss.
"What’s the name of the new person you hired? And where is he from?"
Ignoring Ye Hao, Gu Yi intently asked Ye Qian.
"My name is Wu Liang, from a village in the neighboring county."
Just finished moving the flour, Wu Liang came out and answered when he heard Gu Yi questioning Ye Qian.
Gu Yi knew right away that she wasn’t mistaken—this was the same Wu Liang who had ruined Ye Qian’s life in their past existence.
"I’m not feeling well, Ye Hao, take me home, please."
Gu Yi ignored Wu Liang and directly spoke to Ye Hao.
"Okay, let’s go home."
Ye Hao, unsure of what was wrong with Gu Yi, noted she appeared unwell since seeing Wu Liang.
Thinking this, he glanced at Wu Liang again.
"Hao Hao, hurry and take your wife home, maybe to the hospital for a checkup. She was fine earlier; what’s changed?"
Ye Fu quickly urged Ye Hao, seeing Gu Yi looking pale.
"Yes, brother, take sister-in-law to the hospital quickly."
Ye Qian also looked worried about how Gu Yi was doing.
"It’s okay, a bit of rest at home will do. Dad, Qianqian, we’re heading back now."
Gu Yi figured she’d been shocked by seeing Wu Liang.
The sight of him brought back memories of Ye Qian’s despondency in another life.
Even if nothing had happened yet, Gu Yi couldn’t help but want to slap Wu Liang.
Ye Hao lifted Gu Yi in his arms and carried her home.
As she exited, she shot Wu Liang a fierce glare.
Wu Liang caught that look and felt a chill up his spine.
"Don’t mind it; my sister-in-law is just not feeling well, she’s truly nice."
Ye Qian worried after Wu Liang spoke and her sister-in-law ignored him, so she hurriedly explained.
"I’m fine, don’t you know what I’m like? I’m not petty, am I?"
Seeing Ye Qian worrying, Wu Liang quickly reassured her with a smile.
But that final glance from Gu Yi as she left lingered in his mind.
Wu Liang felt as if Gu Yi recognized him and harbored an inexplicable grudge.
Sifting through his memories, Wu Liang was certain he’d never met Gu Yi, so where did her animosity spring from?
