Chapter 121: Chapter 121 Attitude

Gu Yi got a late start on marinating the fish.

There wasn’t enough time to cook the meat, so Gu Yi decided to braise the fish and stir-fry some shredded potatoes.

Even though Ye Hao knew Gu Yi was back, he was still especially happy to see her when he got home.

"Hurry and wash your hands, it’s time to eat."

Gu Yi placed the fish on the table, smiled, and said this when she saw Ye Hao return.

After saying that, Gu Yi turned around and went back into the kitchen to stir-fry the potatoes.

Ye Hao finished washing his hands and went into the kitchen.

"Are you hungry?"

Gu Yi asked as Ye Hao walked in.

"I’m okay. Do you need any help?"

"There’s nothing to help with. You can go rest outside."

Before Gu Yi finished speaking, Ye Hao hugged her from behind.

"Is everything at the store taken care of?"

"For now, this is the best we can do; we’ll see as we go."

Gu Yi thought about how, not being there, she didn’t know how things were going at the store.

Based on previous situations, it should be better than before.

"Don’t think too much about it. By the way, mom called today asking if we’re going home for the New Year."

"What did you tell her?"

Gu Yi also wanted to know; she genuinely missed home a bit.

"I asked Li Camp Commander, and it seems I should be able to take leave and go home for the New Year this year."

Ye Hao mentioned this while eating.

"Really? Then we need to buy tickets, don’t we? Who knows if we can still get them now."

Hearing they could go home, Gu Yi was especially happy but worried there might be too many people and tickets would be hard to get.

"I’ve already asked the commander to help us, so there’s no need to worry."

Ye Hao said this quickly, worried Gu Yi might get anxious.

"That’s good. When can we go home?"

"We’ll leave on the 26th of the twelfth lunar month."

"Then I need to get all the marinated meat and fish ready in the next couple of days."

Gu Yi thought she should hang up the marinated items today.

"No rush. I’ll hang them up the day before we leave, so don’t worry about it."

Even though Ye Hao joined the army early,

he still remembered some of the things Ye’s mother used to do when he was a kid.

Even by the time they finished eating, Ye Hao hadn’t mentioned anything about her shopping.

"Is there anything else you want to tell me?"

When they were getting ready for bed, Gu Yi suddenly asked.

"Are you talking about what happened when I dropped you off at the camp today?"

Ye Hao seemed to suddenly remember.

"Kind of. I don’t believe you didn’t hear anything."

Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao; she wanted to know what he thought about her friends and some of her habits.

"Yiyi, I know you want to ask about your shopping. It’s your money; you can spend it however you like. You shouldn’t have to hold back just to accommodate others."

Ye Hao very much wanted to give Gu Yi the best life but had to admit that his abilities were still a bit lacking.

Since Gu Yi was working so hard, he didn’t want her to endure any grievances.

"And what if I’m getting close to Li Yitian? How do you feel about that?"

This was also something Gu Yi was particularly worried about, not just with Li Yitian.

Gu Yi wanted to earn more money, so she would interact with many people in the future.

There would be women, of course, but also men, and if Ye Hao minded that a lot, it might be troublesome.

"If I said I didn’t care at all, that would be a lie. I’m in the army and often don’t have complete freedom. I’m grateful he can help you, but sometimes I’m also quite jealous. You two probably see each other more often than we do."

When Ye Hao said this, Gu Yi looked up, wanting to say something to him.

Ye Hao hugged Gu Yi, placing a finger on her lips.

"Yiyi, let me finish. Although I get jealous, it’s not because I think there’s something between you two. It’s more because it makes me feel guilty. You’re working so hard for our future, but I don’t have much time to be with you."

Ye Hao said this, then leaned down to give Gu Yi a kiss.

"But do you think there’s some negative impact from what I did today?"

Even though it was her own money, Gu Yi fully understood the power of public opinion.

Rumors can snowball, and regret would come too late.

"There won’t be, don’t worry. This involves Yitian too, and if the rumors get too outrageous, our commander won’t ignore them."

Ye Hao had already thought about these things long ago. Others may not know Li Yifan, but as a longtime friend,

he knew how protective Li Yifan was, so he wouldn’t let things escalate.’

"That’s good. But I’ll be doing business with different people in the future, including private interactions. You have to trust me, okay? My heart is small; it only has room for you."

Gu Yi believed that love should definitely be known by the other person, especially when both are in love.

Expressing love is not only the fastest way for the other person to receive a message of being loved but can also further strengthen mutual affection.

"Yiyi, I don’t mind you having your own social circle. But please remember this one thing: no matter what difficulties you face, think of me and come to me first. I hope that no matter what we encounter, we as a couple can be of one mind, okay?"

Gu Yi couldn’t help but nod as she looked at the sincerity and affection in Ye Hao’s eyes.

"Good girl, you’ll get a nice reward tonight."

Gu Yi was a bit dazed by Ye Hao’s words, wondering how the topic changed so quickly.

They had just been talking about rumors, and now they were talking about rewards.

"Reward, what reward?"

Gu Yi spoke her thoughts out loud.

"Yiyi, are you asking that knowingly?"

Ye Hao chuckled and patted Gu Yi’s head.

It was late at night by the time Gu Yi understood what Ye Hao meant by reward.

She was so exhausted that she didn’t even want to move her fingers.

This was clearly a reward for Ye Hao, wasn’t it!

The next morning, when Gu Yi woke up, Ye Hao had already gone back to the camp.

She heated up the medicine and drank it after breakfast.

She had been taking this medicine recently and didn’t know how much her cold body had improved.

But lately, she felt she could tolerate the cold better, and her body seemed to be more resilient than before.

The medicine she had was almost finished, but she didn’t plan on getting more before the New Year.

Not only would she have to make a special trip in such cold weather, but taking it home would likely cause a stir.

As Gu Yi and they were preparing for their departure date, others also began going home gradually.

Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei would be spending the New Year at the camp, whereas Fang Hong went home earlier.

This year it was Chen Jun’s turn for leave, so he and Li Dongxiang went home as well.

"Li Dongxiang hasn’t been having an easy time lately."

When Li Dongxiang and Chen Jun went home, Ye Honglian and Wu Chunmei came to visit Gu Yi.

When the conversation turned to them going home, Ye Honglian suddenly blurted this out.

"Those who are pitiable must have something detestable about them. Li Dongxiang used to be so arrogant in front of me just because her husband is a company commander, higher in rank than my partner. She always had to show off. I said, thankfully your Ye Hao became a deputy camp commander. If it were Chen Jun, we wouldn’t have had any good days."

Wu Chunmei had lots of opinions about Li Dongxiang.

"Why is Li Dongxiang having a hard time? Did Chen Jun do something to her?"

Gu Yi watched them talk and was curious about what happened to Li Dongxiang, especially since she had always been unfriendly towards her.
