Chapter 84: Chapter 83: Han Yi Helps
They said the price she gave for the dry goods was good, and that’s enough. They hope she’ll come to their village often to collect dry goods in the future.
Lin Wan responded with a smile, saying she’ll need more in the future.
As the three were talking, a green car passed by right in front of them.
They didn’t really care because the village was close to the military camp, and encounters like this were common. It wasn’t particularly surprising.
However, Lin Wan glanced curiously. Anything related to Jun Camp would subconsciously attract her attention. As soon as she saw green, she would think of Han Yi.
When the familiar eyes on the car met hers, both were taken aback. Lin Wan hadn’t expected to coincidentally run into Han Yi.
Looking at Lin Wan’s familiar yet unfamiliar face, Han Yi knew it was her. They had met a few times, and they could probably be considered friends.
After a few seconds of mutual gazing, Han Yi’s car passed by. He looked curiously in the rearview mirror and noticed a few bags on the roadside, understanding the situation. Seeing Lin Wan frozen and flushed red by the road, Han Yi drove a few dozen meters away, then backed up.
"What a coincidence, do you need help?" Han Yi pointed to the goods by the roadside.
This was their second meeting in S City, and both times, the conversation started awkwardly. Lin Wan felt a bit uncomfortable inside.
"No need, the bus will be here soon. Are you heading out for something?" Lin Wan kept her eyes on his face as she spoke, wanting to take advantage of the rare opportunity to look at him a few more times.
"Are you taking these to the city?"
Lin Wan nodded and replied, "For the shop."
"I happen to be going to the city too, so I can give you a lift. Get in the car first." As Han Yi spoke, he walked over to the dry goods, gently lifting a bag and putting it in the back seat of the car.
Huang Dashan and his brother, seeing a comrade offering help, were also happy. After all, with so many goods, it wasn’t convenient for a girl to take the bus to get them back.
"Young sister, comrades from the camp are always helpful. If they can lend us a hand, don’t hesitate." Huang Dashan saw Lin Wan still hesitating and urged her, helping Han Yi load the dry goods into the car.
The back seat couldn’t fit the goods, so a few bags were placed on the roof.
Actually, Lin Wan wasn’t hesitating; she was just too thrilled to know what to do. She didn’t dare to show it outwardly.
After loading the goods, Lin Wan greeted Huang Dashan and the others and then got into Han Yi’s car.
Once in the car, Lin Wan took off her thick scarf, rubbing her ice-cold hands together to warm up, then turned to look at Han Yi in the driver’s seat, giving a slight smile.
"Thank you so much today, otherwise I guess I’d be working on this until evening."
"With so many things, isn’t there a man at home? How come you’re here alone?" Han Yi didn’t respond directly but asked instead.
"My brother couldn’t make it today... When did you transfer here?"
"This year."
"Oh..."
"Why did you start doing business here?"
"The business is generally better in the city than in small towns. Just as my brother is studying here, we decided to follow him. I didn’t expect to run into you here too." Lin Wan wanted to say they were destined to meet, but didn’t dare to be too forward, instead choosing to speak in a slightly ambiguous way, and after saying it, she pretended to be shy and lowered her head.
"...Oh."
As expected, after Han Yi’s simple "Oh," the two fell into silence.
Han Yi just focused on driving, while Lin Wan turned her head to look out the window, pondering what Han Yi might be thinking at this moment.
Does she really have no charm at all? She looked down at her own bulky clothing, feeling a bit of self-loathing. How could men feel any differently?
