Reborn In Another World As A Spirit Familiar
Chapter 251: The Return Of A Spirit

Chapter 251: The Return Of A Spirit

The more I read, the more confusing it became. It was like the First Hero spoke in riddles and quotes rather than a normal person.

("Who the hell wrote this biography?") [Solace]

I flipped through it out of curiosity and dislike to find a name written with great detail.

("By Elcrid Faux, a good friend.") [Solace]

I breathed deeply trying not to get annoyed.

("...He could’ve just told me how to use the technique.") [Solace]

Putting it simply, he put me on a sidequest that could’ve been done in three seconds. Plus, I’m being forced to learn the First Hero’s lore for no reason. He’s getting so glazed in this biography that it’s getting ridiculous.

("Just marry him at this point.") [Solace]

The only clues about the technique were the stories of how the First Hero fought.

("Visions of the world let him control it?") [Solace]

It was a line that stuck out. In this page, he fought against someone who could control time. Apparently he could see when his opponent would freeze time and would step into frozen time as well.

("You cannot control what is meant to be free.") [Solace]

That was a one liner he told to the sin of greed. From this instance, the sin of greed wanted to control him and was inevitably defeated.

("To be a pioneer is to guide. By definition, mortals isn’t the only thing I pave the path for.") [Solace]

This part was when he was arguing with the god of demons. They didn’t really fight from what I can tell, but it was more like an unspoken agreement.

("I don’t get it man... What am I supposed to see from this?") [Solace]

I continued to read this over and over. I did this for so long that it came time for Elcrid to perform surgery on me and place the required essences to create a mana core. As I lay on the operating table, Elcrid asked me a question.

"Did you find anything in that biography yet?" [Elcrid]

"I found that you wrote it." [Solace]

Elcrid smiled.

"Other than that. Maybe... something related to his techniques?" [Elcrid]

I sighed.

"Your guess is as good as mine. Can’t you just tell me?" [Solace]

Elcrid shook his head.

"I told you, it’s different for everyone. Besides, the First Hero explicitly told me that to acquire the ability requires some form of enlightenment." [Elcrid]

"Do you have any advice on said enlightenment?" [Solace]

"You’re asking this of someone who hasn’t learned the technique either." [Elcrid]

"Huh? You’re telling me that even after all this time, you haven’t-" [Solace]

"|Sleep|." [Elcrid]

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Thankfully, I didn’t wake up mid-operation again. I was back in the resting room. As if he knew I was awake, Elcrid appeared.

"How are you feeling?" [Elcrid]

I pulled up my shirt and glanced at my stitched stomach.

"Oddly... nothing at all. Did you numb me?" [Solace]

"It should have worn off by now. Perhaps your passive skills are coming back. How high was your pain resistance?" [Elcrid]

"...Relatively high." [Solace]

I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Jukhan to thank for that.

"You’re recovering quickly. Soon, you may be able to use skills that require small amounts of mana." [Elcrid]

I felt a little excited knowing that everything is coming back. Then my reality shattered when Elcrid placed the First Hero’s biography on my lap.

"Here, you can continue to peruse this. Or, you could rest. Though, it appears you’ve done enough of that considering you’ve slept for approximately 28 hours." [Elcrid]

"I slept for that long?" [Solace]

Elcrid nodded.

"I’m starting to believe that you’d wake up sooner if I knock you out again. Last time, you slept for 35 hours. Maybe |Spirits| grow faster than the average race?" [Elcrid]

An interesting take, but I’d rather not let Elcrid’s curiosity run wild judging by the mad scientist look in his eyes.

"Well, I’ll leave you to it. Not much else I can do for you at the moment." [Elcrid]

With that, he left me alone with the First Hero’s biography.

("Back to reading this thing again.") [Solace]

Just as I was about to get back to churning gears in my head, a familiar voice spoke.

"Alert: mana reservoir accessible. Loading assets. Verifying integrity. |Spirit Guide| is now available." [Spirit Guide]

("It’s back?") [Solace]

I didn’t even realize it was gone. Though, now that it’s back, I’m more than happy. It was a sign things were going back to normal.

"Alert: Unclassified |Skill Book| has been detected. Would you like to learn it?" [Spirit Guide]

("|Skill Book|? What is it talking-ah?") [Solace]

I looked down at the biography.

"Oh..." [Solace]

It wasn’t that the technique was hidden inside the biography. It was that the technique IS the biography.

("I would like to learn the |Skill Book|.") [Solace]

"Alert: Answer acknowledged. Integration of the |Skill|, |Unbound Mortal|." [Spirit Guide]

Information rushed into me, as if it had been with me all along. In exhilaration, I felt more than powerful. I felt like I was made anew.

("What... is this...?") [Solace]

Things I couldn’t see before appeared. It was like I could see air, moving because of my actions. Images, or layers of something I couldn’t quite grasp. Was I seeing other dimensions, or cause and effect? I could feel... everything?

"Warning: The |Skill|, |Unbound Mortal| is causing |Sanity| to decrease. Emergency limiting measures are underway." [Spirit Guide]

Within an instant, it all vanished. I still felt powerful, just without the visions.

"That..." [Solace]

I let out a chuckle mixed with excitement and nervousness.

"That was awesome." [Solace]
