Chapter 76: Close Quarters

Diane got into her sleeping bag, shut her eyes, forcing herself to ignore Gabriel’s annoying black aura.

It wasn’t working.

She could feel him—his calm, rhythmic breathing, the slow way he stretched out like he owned the space.

The tent wasn’t exactly small, but with four people inside, it felt a hell of a lot smaller.

And Gabriel, of course, had placed himself way too close to her.

Diane exhaled aggressively. ’Ignore him. Just sleep.’

Then he bumped her foot.

Her eyes snapped open. "Gabriel."

"Hmm?" he hummed, not moving.

"You’re in my space."

He smirked. "There isn’t much space to begin with."

Diane scowled. "Then move over there." She motioned toward the opposite side of the tent.

Gabriel didn’t move. "I’m comfortable here."

Riot, half-asleep, mumbled, "Y’all better be quiet unless this is gonna turn into a live performance."

Diane threw a pillow at him. "Shut up, Riot."

Gabriel let out a small chuckle under his breath.

Diane turned back to him, glaring. "I swear, if you keep testing me—"

He bumped her foot again.

"Gabriel!"

"What?" His voice was like pure innocence. "I’m just adjusting."

"You’re instigating."

He tilted his head slightly. "Maybe."

Diane sat up, shoving her sleeping bag aside. "Do you enjoy annoying me?"

Gabriel smirked. "Immensely."

Tessa groaned from her side of the tent.

"Can you two either fight or kiss? Pick one so the rest of us can sleep."

Diane turned toward her, scandalised. "Tessa—"

Gabriel, still completely relaxed, leaned in a little. "She has a point."

Diane shoved him.

Gabriel barely moved.

Instead, he reached up and caught her wrist with one hand, grip loose but unmovable.

His fingers skimmed against her pulse, and she hated the way her skin tingled in response.

Diane inhaled. "Let go."

He didn’t.

Instead, his thumb brushed against her wrist, slowly and teasingly.

"Why does it bother you so much?" he murmured.

Diane’s breath hitched, but she refused to back down. "Because you’re insufferable."

Gabriel smirked. "And yet, you’re the one who can’t stop reacting to me."

Her patience snapped.

Diane twisted her arm free, grabbed the front of his shirt, and yanked him forward.

Gabriel barely had time to react before she was right there—close enough that she could see the pleasure in his dark eyes, close enough that she could feel the warmth radiating off of him.

His smirk deepened. "Careful, wife. You’re starting to look a little desperate."

Diane shoved him back.

Gabriel, damn him, just laughed.

Tessa sighed. "Okay, that’s it. I’m going to sleep outside."

Riot groaned. "No, stay. This is quality entertainment."

Diane glared at both of them before turning back to Gabriel. "Stop acting like this is a game."

Gabriel’s smirk didn’t leave his face, but his gaze did sharpen slightly. "Who says it isn’t?"

Diane clenched her jaw. "You chose Evelyn. So why are you here?"

Gabriel exhaled slowly, as if considering his answer.

Then, instead of replying, he leaned in—just a fraction.

Just enough that Diane felt her breath catch.

"I told you," he murmured. "You’re mine. And that means you don’t get to share a tent with another man."

Diane’s stomach twisted, and not with anger.

She hated how easily he did this. How effortlessly he got under her skin.

And he knew it.

"You don’t get to claim me when it’s convenient for you."

Gabriel moved his head slightly, studying her. "And yet, you haven’t told me to leave."

Diane scowled. "I have told you to leave."

Gabriel just smirked. "Not very convincingly."

Diane was going to kill him.

Or kiss him.

...Probably both.

Tessa groaned. "For the love of God, just get it over with!"

Diane grabbed another pillow and smacked Gabriel with it.

Gabriel, laughing, caught it midair. "Is this your version of foreplay?"

Diane lunged at him, but he caught her wrist again, flipping her onto her back before she could react.

For a brief, suspended moment, he hovered over her—his weight pressed her down just enough to steal her breath.

Diane’s heart pounded.

Gabriel’s eyes traveled to her lips, just for a second.

Then he let go and rolled back onto his sleeping bag, as if nothing had happened.

Diane sat up, fuming. "You are so—"

"Charming?" Gabriel supplied.

"Impossible."

Gabriel just smirked. "And yet, you still let me stay."

Diane yanked her sleeping bag over herself with an angry huff. "I hate you."

Gabriel chuckled. "Goodnight, wife."

Diane squeezed her eyes shut, furious.

As everyone finally fell asleep, Gabriel opened his eyes.

He checked if Diane was still breathing, he didn’t want to take any risks as Evelyn was scheming everywhere.

"You’re so cute when you’re sleeping," Gabriel muttered to himself.

Then, he glanced around the tent, to make sure Tessa and Riot were asleep.

But knowing that Riot was supposed to be on guard, Gabriel knew he wasn’t fully gone, but the hardness in his pants couldn’t wait.

This was also the way to show Riot who was really Diane’s lover.

He pushed himself closer to Diane’s sleeping bag, unzipped it, exposing Diane’s body.

Not naked, covered fully in clothes...her jogger pants, her shirt...it was just enough for him to take it off and insert himself simply.

He glanced one more time around, seeing that the other two gave no reaction Gabriel lifted Diane’s body and placed it in his own bag.

Feeling exhausted, tired and in an uncomfortable position, as soon as she fell asleep, Diane couldn’t even notice what Gabriel was doing, until...

Gabriel placed his hand in his mouth, wetted his tongue, and pushed it inside Diane’s pants.

She was so wet, he almost thought Diane was excited for him.

Lurking with his fingers near her entrance, he placed his other hand on his pride.

"Diane, you’re driving me crazy..." Gabriel mumbled under his breath.

When he was done with her insides, he placed his hand on her breast, rubbing, squeezing it like a stress ball.

"You’re so dead, wake up!" He raised his hushed voice a little, but Diane gave no reaction.

"Damn it..."

He then removed his hardness fully, spread her legs a little, pulled her side to himself, "I love you."
