Chapter 56: The Mission

The next night came fast.

Micha was with his men, watching as Richard’s carefully planned drug operation drowned before his eyes.

The massive shipment of high-end narcotics—cocaine, heroin, and designer drugs—was being dumped into the dark waters below.

The wooden crates split open as they hit the surface, their contents dissolved uselessly into the sea.

Micha smirked, flicking the ash from his cigarette.

"Such a waste," he muttered, before turning to his men. "Hurry up. Get the cash out."

The real target wasn’t the drugs—it was Richard’s money.

Several of Micha’s men had already broken into the storage units, ripping open the heavy metal safes filled with neatly stacked bills.

Millions.

Richard had been stashing his reserves here, thinking no one would dare touch it.

But Micha wasn’t just anyone.

As his men loaded the stolen cash into their trucks, Micha checked his phone. A message from Diane blinked on the screen.

-Diane: Everything is ready for tomorrow, rabbit.-

Micha smirked. "I do love a woman who keeps her word."

But just as he was about to type a reply—

A gunshot rang out.

Micha’s head snapped up just in time to see one of his men collapse onto the ground, blood pooled beneath him.

"Shit," he muttered.

Someone else was here.

"Get the hell out of here!" he barked at his men, reaching for his own gun.

Another shot fired, barely missing him as he ducked behind a crate. His men scrambled, returning fire toward the unseen attackers.

Bullets whizzed through the air.

Who the hell was this?

One of his men, Santiago, ran up to him. "We need to go now! We’ve got the money, leave the rest!"

Micha hesitated, his jaw clenched. He hated losing men.

But they were outnumbered, and staying would mean more losses.

With one final look at his fallen man, Micha spat onto the ground and growled, "Let’s move."

They jumped into their trucks, tires screeched as they sped away from the docks, leaving behind the burning wreckage of what was once Richard’s most valuable operation.

When he received the update, Richard’s office was in shambles.

The moment he got the call, he went into a full-blown rage.

Glasses smashed against the walls. Papers and furniture overturned.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN EVERYTHING IS GONE?!" he roared into the phone.

His men on the other end were scrambling for words.

"The drugs were dumped! The money—gone! We think it was a planned hit, boss."

Richard’s blood boiled.

Someone had planned this. Someone had taken everything from him.

And only one name came to mind.

"Adrian," he spat, his hands couldn’t stop shaking.

Rachel, who was sitting in the corner nursing a drink, looked up sharply. "You think Adrian did this?"

Richard turned to her.

"Who the hell else?! That little bastard has been waiting for his chance to take me out, and now he’s making his move!"

Rachel’s lips curled. "Then do something about it."

Richard gritted his teeth, pacing. He needed to strike first.

He was thinking of ways to gut Adrian from the inside out.

Then an idea formed.

A brilliantly idea.

He turned to Rachel. "Call your contacts. I want to know where Adrian is at all times."

Rachel smirked. "You’re going after him directly?"

Richard’s smile was cold. "I’m going to make sure he regrets ever thinking he could cross me."

Rachel chuckled. "This is going to be fun."

But what neither of them realised—

Was that Adrian had nothing to do with this.

And the real mastermind behind their destruction...

Was Diane.

Rachel sipped her drink slowly, her long red nails tapped against the glass as she watched Richard seethe.

His rage was violent and dangerous, but Rachel had learned how to talk to men like him.

She had always known Richard was paranoid, but tonight, his anger burned hotter than usual.

And she had her own problems to fix.

"I need to get my stupid son back," she muttered, swirling the liquid in her glass.

Richard stopped pacing, narrowing his eyes at her. "Arthur?"

Rachel exhaled dramatically. "Leon and that little bitch Diane have completely poisoned him against me."

Richard sneered. "Well, maybe if you’d been a better mother, he wouldn’t be so easy to manipulate."

Rachel’s expression darkened, but she forced a smile. "You’re one to talk about being a good parent, Richard."

Richard slammed his fist onto the desk, making her jump. "Don’t push me, Rachel."

Rachel rolled her eyes. "Relax. I’m on your side."

She leaned forward, lowering her voice.

"But you and I both know Arthur is a good way to get back into Leon’s world. If I have Arthur, Leon will have no choice but to acknowledge me again. And Diane—" She smiled coldly.

"She’ll break."

Richard watched her, his jaw ticked.

"And what exactly do you plan to do?"

Rachel’s lips curled into a smirk. "I’ll make Arthur want to come back to me."

Richard chuckled as if not believing her.

"And how do you plan to do that? He’s a kid, not some plant you can move around."

"Oh, Richard. Every child is a plant. You just need to know how to play the game."

Richard leaned back in his chair, intrigued. "Go on."

Rachel downed the rest of her drink and stood.

"I’ll make sure my dear son remembers who his real mother is," she purred. "And when the time is right... he’ll beg to come back to me."

Richard smirked, raising his glass. "Now that I’d love to see."

But neither of them noticed a person lurking outside the door

One of Richard’s men, listening carefully.

And in his pocket, his phone was already recording.

As Rachel and Richard continued talking, the man outside the door slipped away unnoticed.

He pulled out his phone and forwarded the recording to a single contact—Leon Hoffman.

The message was sent instantly.

-Unknown: You’ll want to hear this.

Seconds later, Leon’s phone buzzed in his office.

As he played the recording, he gritted his teeth.

His grip on the phone tightened.

"Rachel... you just made your last mistake."
