Chapter 53; Blood Against Blood
Gabriel filled Diane’s inside with his thick milk while grabbing her breasts.
Their bodies were so wet from the formed sweat, so out of breath, so exhausted.
"Choose me, Diane..." Gabriel whispered into her ear as he pushed himself hardly one last time into her.
They felt their muscles twitch and eventually it relaxed.
The world blurred as Diane and Gabriel collapsed onto the cold, hard floor.
Their breaths came in short and quick gasps, the intensity of falling down left them both dazed.
Diane’s limbs trembled, her skin damp with dirt, the adrenaline still was travelling through her veins.
She lay still for a moment, staring up at the balcony’s top, trying to process what had just happened.
Gabriel was beside her, one arm draped possessively over her stomach, his hold as firm as ever... he refused to let her go.
His chest rose and fell with deep, long breaths now.
The silence between them felt uncomfortable, with weird feelings that neither of them wanted to name.
Then—
Gabriel chuckled.
It was rough.
Diane turned her head slightly, locking onto his eyes.
"What’s so funny?" she muttered, still breathless.
He tilted his head, a smirk played on his lips. "You."
Diane narrowed her eyes. "Me?"
Gabriel leaned in, his breath was warm against her skin.
"You keep pushing me away, but your body..." He trailed his fingers over her arm, sending a shiver down her spine.
"Your body keeps coming back to me."
Diane swallowed hard, refusing to let him see how his words affected her.
"You’re delusional."
Gabriel laughed again, sitting up and running a hand through his hair.
"Maybe," he admitted. "Or maybe I just know you better than you know yourself."
Diane sat up as well, pulling the top and clothes around her. "You think you own me?"
He grabbed her wrist, his but not painfully. "I do own you."
She jerked her arm free. "You don’t."
Gabriel looked at her, "Then why didn’t you stop me?"
"Tssch..." Diane’s jaw tightened.
She hated that question. Hated that she didn’t have an answer.
Then she stood up, pushing her skirt down, "I’m leaving."
Gabriel didn’t move, didn’t stop her.
But his voice followed her, wrapping around her like a chain.
"I canceled dinner with Isla."
Diane froze, her back to him. "What?"
He exhaled. "We’re not going."
She turned slowly. "Why?"
Gabriel leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"Because I don’t feel like sharing you tonight."
Her pulse quickened.
He watched her carefully, waiting for her reaction.
Diane clenched her fists. "You don’t own me, Gabriel."
His smirk deepened. "Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart."
Diane turned and tried to open the door, but it was locked.
*tuh* *tuh* she moved her hand with more force.
"Don’t need to be so aggressive, wife. The door is locked."
"Then how the heck are we supposed to get out of here?"
"I have the keys," Gabriel put his hands back up, and took the keys out of his pocket.
"All this time you had them? And you decided to do this on the balcony?!" Diane raised her voice, pupils turned smaller.
"Sssshh. You don’t want them to hear you now, do you?" Gabriel’s lips formed a small smirk when he unlocked the door to let her in.
"I can’t believe you!" She pushed him aside.
"You’re mine."
But even as she stormed away, she knew—
She wasn’t really free from him.
Not even close.
Gabriel drove them home in silence.
Diane sat in the passenger seat, arms crossed, staring out of the window as the city lights blurred past.
Her body still tingled from his touch.
Her mind, however, was at war with itself.
She hated him.
Hated the way he made her feel, the way he pushed her past her limits, the way he owned every moment between them.
But even now, as she tried to will away the memories, her skin betrayed her, still craving his warmth.
Gabriel pulled into the driveway, killing the engine.
The house was quiet, dark—everyone was asleep.
Diane quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out, not sparing him a glance as she walked toward the entrance.
Gabriel followed at a leisurely pace, looming behind her like a shadow.
The moment she stepped inside, she turned to him. "Good night, Gabriel."
The corner of his lips lifted. "Sweet dreams, wife."
She scowled and marched upstairs to her room, slamming the door shut behind her.
But no matter how much she wanted to forget, the moment she lay in bed, the ghost of his touch haunted her.
She turned onto her side.
Then onto her stomach.
Then onto her back again.
She couldn’t sleep.
Couldn’t stop replaying everything.
His voice, his breath, his hands—
Diane groaned, covering her face with her pillow.
’This is insane.’
She wasn’t supposed to want him like that.
And yet...
She squeezed her eyes shut.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow, she would focus on what mattered.
Not him.
The next day, Diane made a decision.
Arthur wasn’t going to school today.
She refused to let him walk back into that place until she was sure he was safe.
Arthur didn’t protest.
He simply sat at the breakfast table, eating quietly, his small hands gripped the silverware too tightly.
Diane ruffled his hair. "You’re staying home today, alright?"
Arthur glanced up at her, eyes widened, then nodded.
Riot leaned against the counter, also crossing his arms. "You sure about this? Leon’s gonna get a call."
Diane exhaled. "Let them call."
And they did.
Diane was at work when Leon called her.
"You pulled Arthur out of school?"
Diane pressed her fingers to her temple. "Yes."
"The principal just called me," Leon said, his voice was deeper. "Apparently, he’s concerned about Arthur’s absence."
Diane scoffed. "Concerned? He wasn’t concerned when Arthur was getting bullied."
Leon sighed heavily. "I told him I wanted those kids expelled."
Diane’s heart pounded. "And?"
Leon hesitated.
Diane straightened. "Father."
Leon’s voice dropped lower. "The kids who bullied Arthur..." He exhaled sharply. "They’re Gabriel Frost’s sister’s children."
Diane’s breath caught.
Her mind reeled.
’Isla’s kids?’
She gripped the phone tighter.
Leon continued in a grim voice. "The principal isn’t going to expel Gabriel Frost’s family."
Diane felt her stomach twist.
This wasn’t just about Arthur anymore.
This was about Gabriel.
About power.
And suddenly, Diane realised—
She wasn’t fighting against just the school.
She was fighting against Gabriel’s blood.
And that changed everything.
