Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: Am I a puppy, alright? Woof!
David Locke accelerated madly after leaving Martin Jonah behind, swiftly outrunning the paparazzi and returning to Rose Valley, where numerous reporters were indeed blocking the entrance.
Having anticipated this, David had contacted the security guards in advance, parked the car outside, and stealthily slipped in wearing a security guard’s uniform.
As soon as he entered the neighborhood, David dashed back to the villa, opened the door with his fingerprint, and rushed upstairs, but Mary Scott was nowhere to be seen.
David shouted around, continued dialing Mary Scott’s number, but it was still turned off, which was unusual.
Standing in the room, David was anxious and irritable; he hadn’t lost control of his emotions even when dealing with the malicious scandals these days.
After forcing himself to calm down, David called Alfred Scott, probing to see if the media was bothering him.
Alfred had just been discharged shortly before, and was infuriated after seeing David’s scandals, rushing to Rose Valley to hit him, but was fortunately persuaded to leave by Mary Scott.
Though he left, his anger towards David hadn’t dissipated. When he received David’s call, he responded with a bout of sarcasm.
David ignored Alfred’s nonsense, discerning from it that Mary hadn’t gone to find Alfred, and promptly hung up the call, not waiting for him to finish his tirade.
Despite not minding being cursed at, David regained some calmness, turned to check the villa’s surveillance, and found that Mary had left the villa after posting that tweet online.
"Could she have gone out for dinner?" David muttered while staring at the video, but couldn’t understand why Mary would have her phone turned off.
However, the villa’s surveillance only showed Mary leaving wearing a hat and mask, without confirming if she had left the community.
Thinking it over, David simply called the property management.
Half an hour later, David finally found Mary’s trace in the property surveillance.
She indeed left the neighborhood, but how she avoided reporters and where she went afterward couldn’t be tracked.
David called Martin Jonah, who had returned to the company, and after checking around the company, he shook his head to David on the other end, "Director, she’s not here."
"Not here?" David furrowed his brows tightly.
At this time, the people Martin had sent out to continue searching also returned, he helplessly confirmed again, "Yes, Director, the lady didn’t come to the company. Could she have gone out for something? Don’t worry, she’ll probably be back soon."
David didn’t speak immediately, remained silent for a while, "Have people keep an eye on the area around the company, and notify me the moment you see Mary."
After hanging up Martin’s call, David called Mia Anderson.
Mia, because of David’s recent scandals preventing Mary from leaving the villa, was put on leave too. Seeing David’s number, she immediately sat up from her slouched position while eating chips, brushed off the crumbs on her hands, and somewhat uncertainly asked, "Director?"
David responded and immediately asked, "Is Mary with you?"
Mia was surprised, "Why would Mary be with me? Isn’t she surrounded by reporters and hasn’t left Rose Valley these days?"
David realized Mia didn’t know Mary’s whereabouts, pondered, "She left the villa this morning, her phone is off, can you contact her?"
"Did Mary run away from home? Did you argue with her? Are those rumors true after all..." Mia speculated wildly with just one sentence from David.
David rubbed his temples, "No, can you get in touch with her?"
Although Mia was afraid of David, she had deep feelings for Mary after following her for a long time, ignoring David’s words and retorting angrily, "Mary wouldn’t run away from home for no reason, and her phone being off means you bullied her, right? Director, even though you’re a big director, you can’t just..."
Beep beep beep...
Mia hadn’t finished her words when David abruptly ended the call and dialed Mary Scott’s number again.
Just then, the sky began to drizzle.
Although spring had begun, it wasn’t March yet, the temperature wasn’t high, and as soon as it started raining, the air temperature dropped significantly; David, wearing a thin windbreaker, shivered slightly in the chill, thinking of how Mary wasn’t dressed warmly in the surveillance, his eyes grew colder, wondering where she had gone? His heart sank heavily.
He was afraid that Arthur Cook’s people would harm his Mary.
As David contemplated whether to call the police, his phone vibrated, he initially thought it was news from Martin or Mia, but he saw Mary’s number instead.
Almost instantly, David’s nerves tensed, he inhaled deeply before answering, calling Mary’s name hoarsely.
But despite calling Mary several times, there was no response from the other end, causing the already nervous David’s heart to rise, suppressing his unease, "Mary, speak to me, what’s wrong? Where are you? I heard you breathing, don’t scare me. No matter what happened or what anyone said to you, don’t panic, I can explain anything, but you mustn’t get into trouble, okay?"
David assumed someone had sowed discord in front of Mary, making his little woman angry at him, hence the phone being off and her leaving the villa.
However, his words were met with silence from the other side, just as David was about to break down with worry, there was finally a sound, "I’m fine, just around the neighborhood. Did you call a lot?"
"You’re okay? Where in the neighborhood? Why is your phone off? Never mind, send me your location, I’ll come pick you up." David had a bunch of questions, but restrained himself in the end, at this moment, he just wanted to know where Mary was and quickly bring her back.
Mary sniffled, trying to make her voice sound normal, "It’s close, I’ll walk back shortly, the phone was accidentally turned off, don’t worry."
"Were you crying?" David ignored Mary’s words, asking in a low voice.
Mary paused, her gaze sweeping towards the disappearing figure in the distance, shaking her head, but quickly realizing David couldn’t see, she cleared her nasal tone again, "No, just got a bit cold because of the rain when I came out."
"Find a warm place to stay, send me the location, I’ll come right away," David said, leaving no room for refusal.
Mary felt the wetness on her body, looked around, then walked to a billboard, sent David her location, and slowly squatted down.
Her mind repeatedly replayed the message she saw today, and the woman she met who said those things...
She sneered after a long while, the rain grew heavier, water occasionally splashing on her body, amplifying the chill around her, she couldn’t help but hug her arms tightly, but couldn’t shield her from the strands of cold emerging from her heart.
It’s really cold!
When David Locke found Mary Scott, she was curled up on the ground, shivering in the first rain of spring. He hurriedly got out of the car, took off his jacket, wrapped her up in it, and held her in his arms, unable to resist softly scolding, "Who told you to run out wearing such thin clothes and turn off your phone? Do you know I was about to go crazy looking for you!"
Listening to the man’s voice, both angry and concerned, Mary nuzzled against David’s arm like a kitten trying to please him.
Seeing her like this, David was still angry, but he first carried her into the car, turned on the heater, and then used his own jacket to wipe the rain off Mary’s hair and body.
Mary watched as the man used a coat worth thousands to wipe off her rainwater and felt a bit guilty, pushing him slightly, "I’m fine, I didn’t get that wet."
David gave her a cold glance, "Still haven’t told me what you went out for?"
"Wanted to eat Flynn Restaurant’s soup dumplings." Mary mumbled quietly.
David looked at her, "Did you eat them?"
Mary shook her head aggrievedly.
David snorted lightly, turned his head, and started the car. In no time, the car reached the nearest mall. Puzzled, Mary looked at him, "Aren’t we going home?"
"Wait." David said, putting on a baseball cap and mask before getting out of the car. Soon, he returned with a set of clothes and opened the car door, "Change into these."
Mary opened it and found a complete set of underwear, a sweatshirt, and an overcoat inside. They completely mismatched her usual style, clearly from a nearby sports fashion brand.
Seeing Mary’s hesitation, David said discontentedly, "Though not very fashionable, this store has the most comprehensive quality near here. Quickly change into them, I’ll take you to Flynn Restaurant."
Hearing this, the previous chill in Mary’s heart was dissipated by David’s actions. She checked the size of the underwear, her cheeks flushing slightly, "In the car?"
"What are you afraid of? The outside can’t see through the one-way glass." David said as he restarted the car.
Mary glanced sideways at the man but still didn’t move.
David had driven out of the mall area but still hadn’t seen Mary move, and looked over puzzled, "What’s wrong?"
"I..."
"Hmm?" David glanced sideways, seeing Mary’s face full of embarrassment, suddenly understood, "Shy?"
Being so straightforwardly pointed out by the man, Mary shyly and angrily glared at David, who chuckled lightly, "What haven’t I seen? Hurry up and change, don’t catch a cold wearing those wet clothes."
"Then you turn around and don’t look at me." At that moment, Mary was in a bad mood, but from the moment David carried her into the car, to seeing him personally run into the mall to buy her clothes, and truly taking her to eat Flynn Restaurant’s dumplings, the overwhelming dark emotions that seemed about to swallow her disappeared completely, and she became aware of the stickiness on her body from being rained on.
"Alright." David’s voice was full of amusement, focusing his eyes straight ahead as he drove.
Seeing this, Mary sighed in relief and reclined her seat slightly before slowly starting to change her clothes.
David was initially just worried that Mary would catch a cold in her wet clothes, but after she acted this way, he couldn’t help but develop different feelings. Especially with the rustling sounds from the woman beside him, he found himself inexplicably drawn.
When one can’t see, the hearing becomes remarkably acute, and David continued to focus on the road, but his ears were filled with the sound of a woman unbuttoning...
Changing clothes in the cramped front passenger seat also made Mary very nervous. Although they were married and had done what should and shouldn’t be done, it was still the first time changing clothes in front of David, in broad daylight, and in the car. As she gradually took off her clothes, she couldn’t help but glance at the man beside her and noticed that the ears of Director Locke, known for his romantic reputation, blushed with her actions.
At first, Mary thought she was seeing things, but after several glances confirmed it, she realized she wasn’t the only one in the car feeling shy.
With this realization, Mary’s courage grew, and a mischievous prankishness emerged.
After taking off her last top, Mary switched into what David bought for her. She didn’t know how a man like him managed to buy her underwear, but it didn’t stop her sarcastic thoughts at the moment.
"Mmm..."
David, while driving, was irresistibly drawn to the rustling of the woman beside him. Suddenly hearing Mary’s "Mmm," he quickly turned his head, "What’s wrong?"
As soon as he asked, David was stunned, his gaze falling on Mary’s nearly bare upper body, his mouth moved but no words came out.
He always knew how beautiful she was, but it was his first time seeing her beautiful body in such bright daylight. Her skin was fair and smooth, her slender arms seemed like they could break with a touch, and she was slightly turned towards the car window, allowing him a perfect view of her lovely fullness, which he loved to grip firmly, urging her to make noise when he was most passionate. At the moment, he couldn’t help but lick his dry lips and softly called, "Mary."
Mary mischievously glanced back at the man, "Park the car to the side; this clasp is hard to fasten."
"Huh?" David, almost mesmerized by Mary’s gaze, sluggishly responded with a blank "huh" and then mechanically found a spot to park the car before awkwardly asking, "How to clasp it?"
Only then did he notice that Mary had her hands behind her, struggling with the clasp of her bra, yet was unable to fasten it. Panicked, he reached over to help, but whether it was from nerves or being bewitched by the scene before him, he failed multiple times.
Mary originally felt a bit shy, but sensing the man’s clumsiness beside her, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter, looking back playfully at him, "Why are you so clumsy?"
Meeting Mary’s gaze, David’s mind finally cleared up a bit, and he finally realized that the person beside him was teasing him. Immediately, he irritably hooked Mary by the waist, pulling her face close to his, rubbing his chin against her hard, "Mary, do you know you’re playing with fire?"
"I just asked for a little help, and you’re already this overwhelmed. Dobbin Locke, I can’t help but wonder if you’ve been deceiving me. With you like this, those women just need to beckon a little, wouldn’t you pounce like a dog?" Mary was in a terrible mood today after meeting that woman, and though David had considerably healed her mood earlier, the man’s apparent desire suddenly upset her, causing her words to turn sharp.
David was taken aback, then angrily pinched Mary’s chin, "What do you mean ’pounce like a dog’? Mary, do you take me for that kind of person? Do you think anyone else could make me lose control like you do?"
He was somewhat vexed and, finishing his words, bit her ear harshly.
Mary cried out in pain, meeting the man’s slightly angry eyes, her heart suddenly softened, realizing that she had not only unjustly blamed him but also baited him. She then leaned in to kiss David proactively.
But David turned his face away.
Mary knew he was truly upset, softly coaxing, "I’m the little dog, alright? Woof!"
