Chapter 375 - 376: It’s her, she is the murderer

Chapter 375: Chapter 376: It’s her, she is the murderer

The woman with the veiled canopy tipped the corner of her mouth slightly and whispered as she drew close to her ear, "Are you also willing to pay with your life?"

Before the woman could react, the dagger had already plunged into her abdomen, and then the attacker quickly left, leaving behind a sinister smile.

Stunned, the woman stood motionless for a long while before she realized what had happened. She looked down at her stomach, slowly laid down, not even managing to utter a word.

Shao He saw the injured person falling and a look of horror flashed across his eyes. He hurried over, intending to stop her bleeding.

Just then, footsteps approached, and a group of constables surrounded him.

"What’s going on here?"

"I don’t know, she was already injured and lying here when I arrived." Shao He took out a silver needle to seal her acupoints, hoping to save her life.

Unexpectedly, the woman shakily raised her hand,

"It was, her, she killed me." After the woman spoke these words, she fainted.

That’s how Shao He was taken away. Before leaving, he took a deep look at the woman and recalled the recent events. He realized that this was likely a trap set specifically for him.

Summoned to appear in front of the court, villagers testified, claiming to have seen him arguing with the woman.

The woman’s body was brought forward, and Shao He approached silently to check her pulse.

Just as he was about to examine further, he was suddenly pushed aside. The middle-aged man from yesterday, Zhao Yian, burst out, pointing at Shao He and cursing loudly, "It was you, you killed my daughter!"

"I didn’t kill your daughter." Shao He simply stated and did not defend himself further.

Because he knew that it meant nothing to Zhao Yian, who had already decided that he had killed his daughter. No matter what the reason, he would not listen.

"I’ll fight you." Zhao Yian roared and lunged at Shao He.

Shao He dodged to the side and then kicked at Zhao Yian, who was unable to stand firm and fell to the ground, clutching his stomach and wailing.

The onlookers pointed their fingers at Shao He, accusing him of having a heart of a serpent.

"No matter how skilled in medicine, what good does it do?"

"Exactly, as a doctor, you should have a heart of benevolence, not be petty and quick to violence at the slightest grievance."

At that moment, a woman’s voice spoke out, "Wouldn’t you strike back if your life was threatened? It’s easy to talk without feeling the pain."

And that comment silenced the crowd.

Zhao Yian drew a dagger from his waist and charged at Shao He.

Shao He’s eyes narrowed and he swiftly dodged, seizing the dagger from the middle-aged man’s hands.

Shao He scoffed, pressing the dagger against Zhao Yian’s neck, "I’ll say it one last time, if you want revenge, find out the truth instead of rashly throwing away your life like this."

"It was you, you ruined my daughter, I’ll never let you go." Zhao Yian said through clenched teeth.

"Slap" Master Liu slapped the tabletop, wiped the sweat from his brow with his sleeve, looking perplexed.

He was unsure of what exactly had happened, and considering Shao He’s current status, it made it even more difficult to handle.

"Take this woman to the prison and decide on a trial date later," Master Liu said in a hurry.

But this decision met with Zhao Yian’s dissatisfaction, who bellowed, "You corrupt official, are you colluding with the murderer?"

"Is there no justice in this world!"

"Enough! If you spout nonsense again, don’t say I didn’t warn you," Master Liu angrily rose from his chair, leaning forward heavily on the desk.

Seeing Zhao Yian’s pale face and hollow eyes softened Liu’s heart, "Calm yourself, I will investigate this thoroughly."

"Ha..." The middle-aged man sneered coldly, his mockery apparent.

Shao He slowly set down the dagger and prepared to follow the constables, glancing around at the crowd.

"Whiz..."

"Thwack..." An arrow tore through the air, aimed straight at Shao He’s heart.

Shao He’s pupils dilated, and he hastily moved aside, but the arrow still struck his shoulder, causing blood to flow and an intense pain that made him break into a sweat.

Screams broke out, "Ah, there’s been a murder!"

"Help!"

Someone in the crowd shouted, and the people scrambled in panic.

Pale-faced, Shao He’s lips were tightly pressed together, his face tensely strained, as he clutched his shoulder.

The constables quickly encircled her, and Shao He glanced up, sensing something, and looked towards the roof not far away.

There, a figure in black crouched at the edge of the eave, looking down with sharp eyes that seemed to penetrate everything, rendering nowhere to hide.

Realizing he was targeted, the figure leapt and fled swiftly.

Shao He clenched his teeth against the pain and turned to Master Liu, "Sir, may I borrow some writing materials?"

Hearing this, Master Liu paused before ordering someone to fetch them.

Shao He sat down and quickly wrote down several medicinal ingredients with a brush dipped in ink.

Master Liu received the list with a puzzled look that then turned into a strange expression.

"Please do me a favor, Master Liu, and retrieve these medical ingredients for me," Shao He said, her body swaying slightly; she was well aware that the arrow had been poisoned.
