Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World -
Chapter 264 - Chapter 264 Chapter 265 Do You Like It or Not
Chapter 264: Chapter 265: Do You Like It or Not! Chapter 264: Chapter 265: Do You Like It or Not! Shao He pursed her lips upon hearing his apology, her heartbeat inadvertently speeding up, and her cheeks gradually turning red. She turned her face away to change the subject, “Are you really going with me tomorrow? Aren’t you afraid that the Empress or the Second Prince might see us and misunderstand something again?”
“What’s there to be afraid of? I’m actually afraid they won’t misunderstand,” Pei Huaian said with a dim look in his eyes, staring ahead.
He knew this was a tactic Shao He often employed. Whenever she encountered a question she did not want to answer, or couldn’t answer, she would immediately shift the topic.
The two chatted idly for a moment, and Shao He, using the excuse of being too tired from the day, quickly ushered Pei Huaian out, wanting to rest earlier.
But in fact, that was not the case.
Shao He lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, visions of familiar figures constantly emerging in her mind.
Shao He sighed, turned over, and buried her head in her pillow.
She suddenly started to doubt herself, wondering whether she truly liked Pei Huaian or not.
She closed her eyes and tried hard to disperse the chaotic thoughts.
The next day.
Having gone to bed late the night before, Shao He woke up close to noon.
After hurriedly washing up and dressing, she stepped outside and saw that the carriage was already waiting for her.
“Have you been waiting long?” Shao He had not expected to sleep until this hour.
“Not too long,” Pei Huaian replied, grabbing some pastries and tea.
Shao He naturally accepted them and nibbled on the pastries while sipping tea.
The carriage soon entered the imperial palace, and they coincidentally ran into Pei Chengye at the palace gate.
“Oh, if I remember correctly, you’re still grounded. How come you’re out and about today?” Pei Chengye said teasingly upon seeing Pei Huaian.
Seeing him, Shao He instinctively stepped back. It wasn’t out of fear, but annoyance.
Pei Huaian naturally blocked him from view, and said cheerfully, “I was planning to enter the palace and plead with mother to speak to father about lifting my grounding.”
“This is no joking matter, how can you take it so lightly?” Pei Chengye frowned in displeasure.
While the two were conversing, Shao He bowed and said, “Since the two princes have matters to discuss, this commoner won’t disturb any further. I am in a hurry to give the Emperor a follow-up treatment.”
“Hey, you…”
“I heard that the Second Imperial Brother visited Flower Tower a few days ago and got punished by our mother for it, is that true or false?”
“Stop talking nonsense here; I was framed!” Pei Chengye angrily shrugged off the hand on his shoulder.
“Oh~ I see!” Pei Huaian feigned realization, “Did the Second Imperial Brother get injured? I’ve heard that the pleasure quarters in the capital have recently been quite tumultuous, with frequent fights breaking out.”
Pei Chengye’s eyes widened in anger as he glared at him, his teeth gritted, “I am perfectly fine! You mind your own business!”
“Why get angry, Second Imperial Brother? We are all family here, a little concern wouldn’t hurt,” Pei Huaian said with a teasing grin, completely disregarding the other’s reaction.
Seeing Pei Huaian dismiss him so casually, Pei Chengye trembled with rage.
His venomous gaze fixed on Pei Huaian, he hissed threateningly, “You just wait!”
With that, he stormed off, flinging his sleeves behind him.
Pei Huaian shrugged his shoulders, squinting his narrow phoenix eyes that sparkled with a dangerous gleam, his lips curving into a bloodthirsty smile.
The Imperial Study Room.
The Emperor sat high on his throne, dressed in a dark dragon robe, his expression stern and icy.
He watched unwaveringly at the memorial in his hands, his eyebrows tightly furrowed,
“Snap–”
The memorial was slammed forcefully onto the floor.
“Your Majesty,” Eunuch Li bent down to pick up the scattered memorial and presented it to the Emperor, “Please calm your anger.”
“This is outrageous, absolutely outrageous! These people are too audacious!”
The Emperor banged the desk, the loud sound startling the eunuch, who dared not utter another word.
“Cough, cough, cough.” The Emperor started coughing violently again.
“Your Majesty, you must take care of your health!”
“Isn’t it time for the follow-up consultation today? Why hasn’t Doctor Shao arrived yet?” the Emperor gasped a few breaths before asking in a deep voice.
Eunuch Li bowed his head and cautiously replied, “I have already sent someone to summon her; she should arrive very soon.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than a voice announcing her arrival echoed from outside.
“Your Majesty, Doctor Shao has arrived!”
“Let her in.”
Eunuch Li looked up and indeed saw Shao He standing at the door.
Today, she was dressed in men’s clothing, looking even slimmer than before.
She lowered her head and slightly bowed her back as she slowly stepped into the room.
“Commoner girl pays respects to Your Majesty,” Shao He knelt down to pay her respects.
“Dispense with the formalities,”
Shao He raised her head, her gaze sweeping past the Emperor and falling on Eunuch Li’s face, “Eunuch Li.”
“Hmm?”
“I’ve brought my medical kit, ready to give a follow-up consultation to Your Majesty,” she said with a voice neither servile nor overbearing, clear and resolute.
The Emperor took a deep breath, waved his hand, and signaled everyone to leave.
The room immediately felt spacious, leaving just the two of them.
Shao He took out the silver needle from the medical kit, thoroughly disinfected it with a cloth, and gently inserted the silver needle into the Emperor’s acupoints, carefully manipulating it.
Soon after, the Emperor suddenly felt his headache lessen and his mood became less irritable.
In a period of time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Shao He removed the silver needle and quickly came forward to check his pulse and pupils, relieved to see that there was nothing unusual.
She picked up a teacup by his side, filled it with tea, and handed it to the Emperor with a gentle voice, “Your Majesty is out of serious trouble now. You just need to take a few more doses of medicine.”
