Chapter 260: The Pig Monster

Amidst ruins, falling rocks and chaos Fanir arrived flapping his wings. Cassandra and Siroos climbed on his back; he swept them away, dodging falling debris—his destination, Dusartine.

Siroos just held her to his chest, her back pressed into his hard muscles as his strong arms wrapped tightly around her.

A satisfying hum connected them through the bond.

"I am proud of you, Cassa."

"And me of you, let’s go home. I wish to sleep in your arms." She pressed herself more into him as her wings shot out and they vanished, only to appear right outside their dwelling.

Ranon and Faris were just outside when they landed. Their faces blended into smiles of astonishment as they cast their eyes on the couple who had arrived on the back of a gryphon.

"Bless-o, you are here. Who is that?" Faris rushed forward and helped his SIL down from the gryphon and hugged her. His eyes took in the proud creature who sat on his hind legs, watching the young boy with his wisdom-ridden eyes.

Cassandra hugged him back, feeling his brotherly love.

"That’s Fanir, my pet Gryphon. I have so much to tell you all, but let’s gather everyone first," Cassandra said, letting herself relax.

Ranon and Siroos hugged and patted each other’s backs.

"Pleasure to have you back. Faris informed us of your rise to the status of god." Ranon’s voice held pride, Siroos gave a hint of a smile.

"People will think twice before messing with us now."

Ranon nodded but his lips were pursed so Siroos asked.

"What is it?"

Ranon and Faris exchanged looks and the latter spoke up, still holding Cassandra.

"Let’s show you."

Ranon gave a respectful nod to his Nissa and they led them towards the dungeons where the prisoners and sinners were kept.

Ranon took off the torch mounted on the wall and led the way while Faris trotted beside Cassandra, hungry for titbits of what had transpired.

They soon climbed down the steep stairs and arrived at the prison cell. The air was damp and reeked down there.

Ranon guided them towards a particular cell.

Vampires had been spying on them using the beetle-shifter. He tried to cross the magic barrier around the pack but couldn’t, still was able to learn from shifter warriors that Siroos was not in the pack. He escaped and informed Stephanie. She decided to attack the pack along with Kamyn’s father.

"Your crazy sister tried to attack the pack just as we arrived back, along with an army of vampires and a vampire Monarch. Most of them were killed when they tried to get past SIL’s and Princess Lotus’s protective barriers. Commander Razial and I killed the vampire monarch but this one was insistent even when injured, so we kept her for you."

Faris spread his hands forward to point to the cell which pulsed with Lotus’s magic. Inside was a hunched over woman in black clothes, she raised her head as Cassandra took a step forward and stood in front. Her lips thinned in displeasure as her eyes met with the girl’s on the other side.

"I wish I could say it’s good to see you, Stephanie, but it’s always a disaster," Cassandra spoke in disgust, her hands itching to blast her.

Stephanie raised her head and watched Cassandra with far less malice than she had always done. The curse that had tightened her heart against hers had been lifted, and she couldn’t hate Cassandra as much as she did before, even if she tried.

But the dislike never ended, and the death of Kamyn was still fresh in her mind.

"Your people killed the Vampire Monarch as well. The whole generation of vampires was wiped out by your mate and his people. I hope you are satisfied," Stephanie seethed, trying to use her shadows, but Lotus had cast a spell on her, and she could no longer access her magic. Stephanie wondered how Lotus became so powerful, not knowing Gildaryn had blessed all six of them, enhancing their powers.

Siroos let out a snarl but Cassandra only pitifully smiled and quietly asked.

"Ranon, open the door."

The beta moved forward and opened the cell door, it creaked on its hinges as it slid open.

"This will be interesting," Faris playfully mumbled in his smirking brother’s ear.

Cassandra confidently walked inside and faced the woman who had tormented her all of her human life.

Stephanie eyed her curiously, she slowly stood up and lunged as soon as Cassandra got in her proximity. But this time Cassandra was ready. Letting her power shootout Cassandra slapped the lunging Stephanie and sent her spiralling into the wall.

She shrieked as the hot pulsating energy melted the very flesh from her face. It burnt and dribbled down like droplets of melted wax.

Stephanie’s eyes widened in shock at what she had witnessed.

Her sister had powers now?

Why was her hand glowing?

"W—what? H–how?" She stammered, trying to speak through the clenching pain but Cassandra ignored her and replied through gritted teeth, her hands balling at her side as she didn’t want to attack her further. There would be no difference between her and Stephanie then.

"This was for all the torment you gave me and Lotus. And yes I am no longer that weak girl you loved to torment. I wish I could give you a slow, miserable death, but you and Tholarian were nothing but collateral damage in the grand schemes of a mad god. So I will just send you away in a grand fashion. Since you are a jealous person and love hurting others, I think you will find a perfect place with the goddess of jealousy."

Cassandra sensed Stephanie’s crippling fear as she called forth the goddess of oath. As promised the goddess appeared instantly, keeping her promise.

Sahli’s eyes shone with mischief as she stood beside Cassandra and cast a curious glance towards a cowering Stephanie with a burnt face.

Ranon confusedly watched what was going on in the cell so Faris placed his elbow on his shoulder and set out to explain what had taken place with Sahli previously.

"Sister trouble?" Sahli asked with a glint of mischief. She turned around and winked at the boys, they snickered wickedly in return.

"Pretty much over now. How do you feel about gifting the goddess of jealousy a pig monster? Since she seems to love turning people into those and keeping them as pets. Why not give her someone who deserves to be stuck like that," Cassandra asked but her voice lacked enthusiasm. She had wished for a healthy relationship with her sister but it wasn’t meant to be and she still possessed no remorse.

Sahli hysterically laughed at the suggestion, she genuinely loved it. Siroos snickered too with his hands on his waist.

"I believe that’s the fittest punishment for someone who deserves it," Sahli remarked, stepping forward towards a cowering Stephanie.

"W–what are you going to do? Stay back...Cassandra..." she screamed, as Sahli stepped closer and placed her hand on her head.

"You were bestowed with powers which came with a responsibility to help others. But you chose to hurt and kill, senselessly. It’s retribution time. I owe you to make you suffer and pay for the crimes you committed against the weak. For that, I turn you into a pig to roam the Underworld and be bullied by other creatures. You will carry no powers and your countenance will be weak and pathetic."

Sahli stopped uttering the words.

~Whoosh~

Stephanie transformed into an ugly-looking pig with a sad face and big belly.

"Tsk! If only that woman didn’t choose to go down such a route. Now she will reap the consequences of her own actions." Faris shook his head.

Siroos stepped inside and placed his hand on Cassandra’s shoulder as she watched a squealing Stephanie being taken away by Sahli.

Sahli waved at them before disappearing with a squealing fat pig.

"You acted just like a goddess should. Each one of them needed to be put into place."

Cassandra exhaled as they walked out of the empty cell and faced Faris and Ranon.

Their beta cleared his throat and gave them a shy sheepish look. "I know it’s a delicate moment but I have some good news."

Siroos and Cassandra both understood what it was, their faces melted into bright smiles as they attentively listened.

"We became parents. Lana gave birth to twin girls."

Siroos swiftly moved and gave a tight hug to his grinning beta, thumping his back.

"Congratulations, Ranon, what wonderful news," Cassandra chiruped, brimming with joy.

"They are adorable, wait till you see them," Faris added, dancing on his heels.

"I will go inform Aiko about your arrival."

They left the dungeon and headed towards Lana’s room.

The pack had been informed of their arrival and the preparations for celebration had already begun.

Lotus and Haylia were already with Lana when they arrived in her chamber, playing with her little ones. Their heads turned instantly.

"My children are back." Haylia scrambled to her feet and rushed to them, throwing her arms around both Siroos and Cassandra, hugging them together and not only her son.

"Ma!" Siroos lovingly called her and melted in her warmth.

Cassandra embraced her back and whispered.

"We did it. We lifted the curse and we mated. You will become a grandma soon."

Haylia’s tears of joy leaked out and she hugged both of them tight to her chest once again, overwhelmed with emotions.
