Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate -
Chapter 204: Hot Soup
Chapter 204: Hot Soup
Cassandra who had slept roughly more than Siroos, realised he was in a state of sleep. She pursed her lips in understanding and grabbed his face.
"Hey! Look at me?" She let her warmth seep into him, slowly awakening his sleep-induced mind. Realisation slowly hit him that he wasn’t in a shared dream with Cassandra but had woken up.
"Oh!" Siroos pressed his forehead with her and her low giggle rang out. She patiently waited, letting him take his time. Once he was fully awake, they decided to jump down from the tree.
Sirros securely kept her in his arms and leapt. He landed softly and let Cassandra stand on her feet, stabilising her.
"You good?" Cassandra asked, placing her hand on his back.
"Yes, I just need to wash my face," he informed her, still rubbing his eyes.
"We have hot water, soup and bread. Come quickly," Faris called out to them frantically waving his hand.
"Come!" Cassandra guided him forward while grabbing the blanket with her other hand.
"How did we get hot soup?" Cassandra curiously asked, her mouth watering seeing the swirling chunks of meat and vegetables in the thick liquid.
"Well, I went back through the portal to my mom’s room. Cooking it would have taken too much time and the smell would bring uninvited guests. She had it prepared beforehand. No one saw me," she quickly added in the end seeing Siroos’s raised eyebrow as he washed his face.
"You are amazing and smart, girl. Faris, appreciate your mate. None of us could have pulled this." Cassandra chuckled, accepting the bowl of soup from Aiko and a large piece of bread from Faris.
Both of them blushed for different reasons.
Lotus and Razial were already devouring their bowls so Cassandra joined them.
"You sleep all right on the tree? My little sister who is also a goddess is now a tree sleeper. So proud of you." Lotus thumped her back as Cassandra sat down beside her with a laugh. Lotus never let an opportunity pass to tease others.
"Yeah! I was comfortable but Siroos didn’t sleep well. I wanted to keep him company but instantly fell asleep."
Razial and Lotus guffawed at her confession.
She brought the wooden bowl to her lips and took a small sip of the hot deliciousness. It trickled down her throat, spreading its warmth and savoury flavours.
"Ummm! It’s—so g–good." She spoke between mouthfuls and glanced in Aiko’s direction, who was handing Siroos a bowl now.
"Tell your mom, thanks. Next time, you return," Cassandra told her and she promptly nodded.
"We should head out as soon as we finish our morning meal, staying for too long in vampire territory can be dangerous. I just don’t want them to discover any part of our plan." Siroos laid out, he took larger gulps of the soup than the rest of them and let Aiko fill it up once again.
"Yes, we have been camped here for too long. We shouldn’t stay in a single place for more than a few hours."
The breakfast was eaten with fervour and amidst the laughter. Ravens had begun to gather around on the trees, the smell attracted them.
They tidied up everything behind them, packed their blankets and mattresses, put them in Lotus’s magic satchel and were soon on their way.
Lotus chose to ride Siroos’s steed while Aiko and Faris took hold of the front of the carriage. Siroos was forced to sit inside and get some sleep by Cassandra.
"I am not sleepy," he insisted when Cassandra covered him with a blanket and pushed him down on the seat.
"Lay down and close your eyes, it will come. You are exhausted. We can take care of ourselves for a few hours, Alpha," she teased, wetting her lower lips with her pink tongue.
His eyes glazed over from lust seeing her tongue poke out. His hand reached out, the thumb landing on her lower wet lip, Siroos pulled it down slowly and whispered like the delicate flutter of a bird’s feather.
"If you keep doing that, you and I will end up without clothes."
"Not a bad idea until someone decides to peek inside. Sleep now or I will have to give you a sleeping potion. We would want you at your full capacity." She pushed him down again but Siroos wrapped his arms around her waist and took her with him.
Cassandra landed over him with a slow moan as her mate squeezed her waist and pressed his greedy lips onto her. There were so many layers of clothes between them but he could still feel her curves and soft squishable breasts.
His tongue slowly made its way inside her mouth, drinking up her moans so no one else would hear them.
The slow moving carriage ignited this sensuality with which their lips danced over each other’s. Cassandra waved her fingers into his soft hair, he had grown them long over the months and she loved feeling them under her skin.
He hadn’t even drank to his heart’s content when the carriage suddenly came to a halt, the horses neighed and Faris cursed out loudly.
Lotus let out a low scream as well.
They broke apart and Siroos gritted out.
"Something has happened." Like a bolt of lightning he was out of the carriage, Cassandra followed him, adjusting her coat.
Razial was already down his horse and rushing forward with Faris and Siroos in tow. Cassandra went ahead and saw there was a small child on the path, fallen on the snow, petrified and too afraid to move seeing the horses up close.
Razial picked him up and he instantly began to bawl. His small chubby hands without any gloves fisted and he began to rub his eyes as tears leaked out.
"Shh! Don’t cry." Razial rubbed his back.
"What happened?" Siroos asked his brother.
"He suddenly appeared in front of the carriage. I guess he was hiding maybe, I don’t know so I halted," Faris explained as Aiko joined him and watched the crying child with deep concerns.
Cassandra moved towards Razial, extended her hands and said.
"May I?"
Razial nodded and handed over the child to Cassandra. She carefully accepted him and hugged him to her chest.
Lotus joined her and rubbed the child’s back.
"It’s all right, little one. Don’t be scared." Cassandra slowly rocked and calmed the child down while the men surveyed their surroundings, trying to check if there was a lingering danger.
And then they heard a woman and the frantic beats of her heart.
"Luca!" She hysterically called out.
