Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate
Chapter 187: The Plans Further

Chapter 187: The Plans Further

The six of them gathered around the dining table after freshening up so Lotus and Razial could eat and they could further discuss the plan of action.

The pack had gone to sleep so it was only the six of them under the flickering lights of the candles and lanterns.

Lotus narrated what had transpired back at Speldaria and how she had to send a message to Siroos before making their own escape.

She was stuffing her mouth today, forgetting all her lady-like manners for she hadn’t eaten a proper meal in a fortnight.

"Our dear sister has completely lost it. I can no longer detect any light in her eyes," Lotus rambled about their eldest sister.

"I know, Stephanie wanted me dead. Kanyon told me. He kept saying for the world I was dead."

Cassandra’s mind drifted back to the moments spent with that fiend. The bond swamped with her anxiety and Siroos, who stood behind her, quickly squeezed her shoulders. His consolation and support, her heart soaked like a sponge.

"The utter vileness she uttered, trying to force King Tholarian to punish us to the maximum degree; I wouldn’t put it past her that she was the mastermind behind the whole attack," Razial answered, leaning back in the chair and enjoying the wine served to him.

"Kanyon is no saint, and the very fact divine intervention is what saved him still irks me," Aiko said in annoyance, sitting closer to Faris.

"Kanyon is the reincarnation of my fiancé, Kalthian. Even as a god he was ruthless and unforgiving. Loved burning people up. Every volcanic eruption is always his doing. He can’t control his anger when circumstances don’t suit him," Cassandra explained, leaning her head back so it rested on Siroos’s abdomen. His hands gently massage her shoulders to relieve the building-up tension.

Everyone except Siroos let out shocked gasps. The gods were playing some cruel joke on the mortals.

"Makes sense why he is such a debauched soul. Thank the goddesses, I never worshipped him. His followers have a bad taste in gods." Lotus reached out and squeezed Cassandra’s hand. Her sister was indeed special.

"Well, I only worship Aylin, although she has dealt me pretty wild cards lately," Faris’s words almost held regrets.

"My goddess is right in my arms and that’s the only goddess I need." Siroos leaned in and kissed the top of Cassandra’s head, showering her with all his love. A pinkish hue graced her cheeks in return.

Aiko wistfully watched, wondering if she would ever get a chance to have a similar relationship with her mate as well. She side-glanced at Faris and he seemed to be in the same rocking boat as she was.

"So what’s our next plan of action?" Lotus asked, finally having her fill and delicately dabbing her lips with her handkerchief.

"We need to find out the location of that tree and begin our journey. The sooner, the better. The skies I observed were pinkish-white instead of our regular blue. That’s the colour I heard the sky has in the Grimhollow and beyond."

"That’s my hunch too. I have a mage friend who travelled to those lands a few years ago. I think he can provide us with some insight and what to do. Maybe he has heard of such a tree. Is anyone good with drawing?" Razial spoke, placing his empty tankard back.

"I will draw it out," Siroos instantly said while mind-linking Ranon and telling him to bring him some chalks and black cloth.

He seated himself on his designated chair.

"I can take us to the borders of Speldaria to the point till I have travelled," Aiko offered, knowing that travelling by portal would be so much faster but she could only open them to the places she had visited before.

"I will accompany you," Faris answered in determination, turning to her. She smiled at her mate.

Siroos nodded at Aiko while Razial turned to speak to her.

"That’s a very special bloodline you belong to. Portal openers are extremely rare, that magic is almost lost to our world."

She sadly sighed.

"That’s my father’s bloodline. He told me how his ancestors were hunted down for this very power."

"I am sorry about that. Powers always bring challenges with them, especially if you dwell in the Western Continent," Razial sympathetically answered, and Aiko agreed. The mate bond between her and Faris flicked to life and sadly hummed in their chests.

Faris reached out and lightly touched her arm, calming her down.

Lotus and Cassandra were lost in their own private conversation.

Ranon arrived with the required materials and placed them in front of his Alpha.

Opening the rectangular cloth, Siroos spread it wide on the wooden table. Cassandra and Lotus helped him straighten it up and remove any wrinkles present. The others leaned in to observe as Siroos picked up a white chalk and began to artfully draw the tree from their collective vision.

Cassandra observed how artistically his hand moved over the cloth. The bluish streams in his hands stood out like thick cords against his bronzed skin. A small ridge rested between his furrowed brows as he concentrated.

Faris had picked up the lantern and angled it in a way that maximum light fell on the cloth, assisting his brother. Lotus and Cassandra held the edges of the cloth so he could easily draw.

With precision, he created the branches, the leaves, the sky and the other details he remembered, using different coloured chalks.

"There were large strange birds too, I remember they were orangish red," Lotus loudly remembered and he began to draw the birds.

"Pretty sure they were phoenixes," Razial added.

"I don’t have anything golden, the tree had gold streaks running through it as if it was alive." Siroos paused, staring at his creation.

"One moment, I think I have something." Lotus gestured to Razial to hold the cloth in her place. She reached back and picked up her satchel from around her chair where she had placed it earlier. Putting her hand inside she began to search it.

Soon she had extracted a small box. Opening it she placed it in front of Siroos.

"Gold dust, I use for make-up. I think this will do the trick." She gleefully offered.

"Certainly will." Siroos accepted the box and opened it. Pinching some of it he began to carefully spread it on the tree trunk and between the leaves.

Soon the drawing was complete.
