Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate
Chapter 184: Their Plant

Chapter 184: Their Plant

Aiko stood up and thanked everyone with a small bow on the behalf of her family as well.

"I appreciate being accepted in the pack, especially to Alpha and his family for making us feel welcome."

Her curious eyes went to her mate and he was already watching her with those needy eyes of his. She smiled and settled down.

Cassandra left her seat and picked up her tankard, raising it in the air, she announced.

"To old bonds and new, to the happiness in our lives and the one still waiting on the borders.

To us."

"To us!" The pack chanted back at her, raising their tankards and wineskins.

Siroos’s eyes held nothing but pride for his mate. How she had settled into this role.

The feast began. An assortment of dishes, ranging from flatbreads to carrot stew and meat smoked on charcoal, had been prepared.

Cassandra ate to her heart’s content, making up for meals she had missed in Kanyon’s captivity.

Siroos, as usual, provided morsels to his mate so she could easily relish the meat. It had turned into a habit of his to break down the meat for her.

"It feels so good to eat with the pack again, I missed this so much," she confided to her family.

"It wasn’t the same without you," Faris answered, stuffing his mouth with bread.

"We are complete with you, Luna," Haylia offered, learning her true identity had exalted Cassandra to a much higher position in her eyes.

The feast ended on a high note, and Cassandra and Siroos decided to visit their plant. Last time they were near it together, the poor sapling was in tatters because of their strained bond and relationship.

Cassandra took Siroos’s arm as they made their way to the oasis.

"Previously we were so heartbroken while being near our baby plant. It absorbed all our negative emotions. I hope it can heal now."

"It will. I have an idea, why don’t we name it?" Siroos suggested while kissing Cassandra’s temple. She leaned onto his shoulder, basking in his scent.

"That’s a great idea. How about Amal (meaning Hope) since I like to believe it to be a female."

"Sounds perfect to me. Amal it is."

The night had spread its inky wings outside but the moon peeked at them with its silvery rays. The sharp breeze swirled the sand particles. The weather had changed even in Dusartine although it wasn’t as cold as the North and West, they welcomed the mild winters.

The moonbeams had warmly enveloped the art piece they had grown together. Cassandra hurried towards it, seeing new leaves had germinated and the wilted ones had gotten life back in them.

It had gained height and a small bud snugly nestled between the soft leaves. It was enclosed in a green sepal, but both of them knew a flower was about to bloom, the flower which would bring fresh beginnings, an indicator of the new dawn they were about to welcome.

"Siro! Look, Amal is bringing forth a flower," Cassandra excitedly cried out, kneeling before the plant and placing her face on the fresh leaves.

Siroos stood closer and watched with satisfaction.

"I missed you, sorry I caused you so much hurt," Cassandra whispered and more of the leaves caressed her resting face as if this particular flora had a mind of his own. It understood every emotion.

They curved to the shape of her face as if hugging her, the corners of the foliage tinted pink.

Siroos had to fight back an uproar of laughter. This was a male plant alright. He leaned in and touched the bud standing tall amongst the leaves.

Instantly, it began to open from the top, revealing golden-pink furled-up petals inside. His heart lightened seeing the flower responding to his touch.

"Cassa!" He called out, pointing to the blossoming flower. She reached out and touched the base of the bud as well, and the slow process sped up.

The tender bud stirred under the soft light of the moon. Its petals tucked together, whispering warm promises to Siroos and Cassandra.

The bud seemed to happily sigh as it unfolded, delicate and slow.

The ballads of joy seemed to merge with the rustling wind. The plant was happy. It revealed the inner emotions of the two people standing before it.

Layers unfurled like whispers of silk making their hearts unburden. The captivating sight had them both lost in its splendid beauty as from the heart of green and stem, a radiant blossom emerged fully.

"Awww! It’s so pretty, like a moonflower, it has bloomed under it."

"Yes, under our touches plus sprinkled with moonlight. I think it indicates prosperity for the pack and us," Siroos hopefully concluded, the silvery rays highlighted his soft curls. Cassandra stood up and proceeded towards the oasis. Filling up the earthen pot they kept there, she brimmed it with sparkling water. The surface of the oasis almost seemed enchanted under the moon’s rays.

Bringing it back, both of them held it from the sides and they watered their plant together with gentleness and love. It was about four feet in height, but Cassandra could swear it gained at least another foot from their watering.

"Did it just grow?" Cassandra asked, stunned, sides of her lips stretched in a smile of astonishment.

Siroos let out a small roar of laughter and answered.

"It certainly did, it’s emotionally attached to both of us. It feeds on our emotions, and since we have returned, it’s growing nonstop."

"Ohh! How much will it grow?" Knowing that Alpha before Siroos, who were not cursed, must have grown them too with their Lunas.

Siroos draped his heavy arm around Cassandra’s waist and tugged her closer to himself.

"I remember seeing the one my father and mother grew. It was right about at that spot." He pointed in the other direction. "By the time my father passed away, it was at least 30 feet in length and was a fully grown tree. But within two days of his death, it withered away. First, the leaves dried and fell and then it completely lost the life in it and crumbled to the ground."

Cassandra felt an ache inside her heart hearing of such a fate for the Sensifa Tree.

"That’s quite a horrifying fate, Siro." Cassandra squeezed Siroos’s arm and he patted her hand.

"That’s how life is my Malakti. Nothing is forever until one is a god or a goddess," Siroos answered but had a playful smile on his face. He didn’t wish to sadden her.

"Well, then our plant will live forever too." Cassandra let go Siroos’s arm and gently cupped the gold-hued flower which had just blossomed.

Her positive energy whispered under her skin and shot out in specs of gold dust, it danced on the flower and all around it like tiny fireflies. Not only that, it merged into the sandy soil and travelled to all the plants like gold vines. Nurturing them, bringing forth some new plants and rejuvenating the old ones.

Cassandra gave her essence of love to these lands, the essence that had been snatched by her father.

She was going to return them to their former glory.
